5:53 my ex used to wake me up from a dead sleep every night for decades .There were times he would blast the lights The sleep depravation definitely took its toll. It’s all about keeping you off balance so they can control you. It’s called leverage.

Thank you for sharing what you know and making it applicable to all kinds of people and relationships. I've been lucky enough to find my way out of coercive control and it's never as simple as walking away. I hope your information helps someone.

I agree that's it's likely to be largely male on femal dominant, but I can also can confirm from experience that it can and does happen both ways. Again not always, but it often just gets swept under the rug.

Maid is based on the book by Stephanie Land. You credited Margaret Qualley’s performance. Not to take away from Margaret, but I think it’s unfortunate that you didn’t also mention Stephanie; the woman who actually dealt with abuse and then wrote such a compelling book about her own experience.

You’ve just described how half a billion women living under the Islamic faith are currently living, and it’s normal and regulated by the government in those countries where it’s practiced. I have no idea how you didn’t mention Islam once in this podcast…
@aricurtis13657 ай бұрын
The fact that you took a fairly universal concept and made it about your Islamophobia is … telling.
@cowmath777 ай бұрын
@@aricurtis1365 I’m not afraid of Islam, this is a simple fact of the religion. The fact that you can’t accept that is very telling. There is nothing universal about half a billion women being forcefully covered, denied basic education and rights in 2024. It happens under 1 commonality, and that is Islam.

I’m sorry but as a woman I find some of this to be a bunch of bs. People come up with anything these days. If a person tells you to not spend all of the household money they say coercive control, if you say you have to work, coercive control. Some of this is just plain silly. This is truly a sign of the times.

Listen to what you are saying if a person agrees to work it's coercive control when a person or group threatens , track, is harassed or forced to quit when they have a right to work and not be plotting against and forced to quit. To even harass a person to work part-time time then try to force others things to do that then person in their own power and freedom don't have to do so you do certain things claiming to add pressure until they cooperate and do it is harassment and coercive control. Only a person who is guilty for doing this would go against it. You also don't harass a person to take care of a person and manipulate the individual to do your will and verbally abuse anything that is considered contact with someone with the intent to highjack and force corporations to do something against they're will and even defamation of character to manipulate someone to get into action is also coercive control. Abuse is only crazy to abuse and people with Narcissistic personality disorder a need to control a person they will also twist the story and try to blame the anger of the person being mistreated as the one who is hostile. So they use the reaction as rather than the what causes the person so respond in anger while tell the attackers and harass to stop. So this is stupid only to abusers honey.

Those are examples of coercively controlling behaviors . It’s about manipulators utilizing strategies to leverage control. While you speak of low key events.. there are people like myself who have barely survived the extreme cases .. Many do not.. Many have their lives taken from them.. Along with their children .. Rooted in entitlement by way of a belief that they are superior.. a God Complex so to say.. Some take their own lives to escape… I almost did..
