@@Frenchieeeee IMO, he seems about right. I work in tech, just not silicon valley. Everything he considers the "norm" because every tech company in silicon valley sounds like an overbloated perks package. The free food is probably the worst offender, but things the video considers bad is just normal for the rest for the world. Since I'm not in silicon valley, I can't be definite, but if I had to guess, the reason he considers Tesla pay to be ridiculously low is because pay in Twitter (Google, Facebook etc) is ridiculously high. If pay in Tesla is slave wages then nobody will take it. It's probably more of a "reasonable California living wage" which is barely enough for folks especially those who got a taste of the wage + perks of Twitter. So in short, yeah, Silicon Valley "Tech" employees are very pampered.

I am not a tech. I work on vehicles and I never once had a job that provides food and all the break rooms in the world. We got two 15 minute breaks and one half hour lunch. I worked through my lunch alot of times because I wasn't hungry and got tired if I ate around that time. Now I work with family in the automotive field and kinda get to make my own hours, but I never screw a customer on me being lazy. Even the military charged me for food and I never ate it because the times frame never matched the work schedule. I bet Facebook is the same way and that's probably why they never pick up the phone when I need help.

It isn't..... but only because of where the company forces them to work (WA, and CA, two of the most expensive states in the country) to put it in perspective, 150k at one of the twitter offices in CA, WA, or NY, is equivalent to working anywhere in the midwest for between 75 and 90k depending on specific city/major metro area. To put THAT into perspective... pre-inflation; The store manager at a McDonalds in the midwest made anywhere between 55-75k. Starting at 16, you could [theoretically] have it lined up for you the exact day you turn 18 (or 21 in some cases). And no degree needed, so no 20-120k of student loan debt to pay back. On top of that, many "dead end jobs" in retail and restaurants (mostly Fortunte 500 brands) actually have programs to pay your school, pay off loans (rarer) or pay a portion of costs.

To be fair in California you need to pay more for the employees to survive, because inflation there is insane (their retarded government is at fault), which is why Elon is slowly moving all his companies out of the state. The reason their economy looks huge is because of the insane price inflation. If you take into account price inflation it's actually much lower then what people think it is. Taking into account inflation the economy size is smaller then Texas, despite having 10 million more people. (Keep in mind this is taking for granted that most people who work and live in California as well). If you can somehow live outside California while still working there you come out ahead, but not a ton, because even the states around California have high inflation. The Texas economy punches above it's weight because inflation is below US average. Texas is going to replace California fairly soon as the tech capital of the US. Elon is moving here we already have Dell and many other tech companies, and now High grade silicon chip manufacturing is coming here.

There is no such thing as “free lunch”. It is employer paid lunch, which means employees are making less or the employer is making less money. I feel like employees are part of the company, and also have a say, having contributing with a lot of hours of work, progress and years. Why should it be just hierarchical with one person deciding when he just bought the company when there are the workers, team leader and coordinators that made the comapany be what it is. Ideally they should have boughts some stocks of the company to share it with musk, so he don't start to mandate what he wants to his employees expecting them to act like robots following orders. This partially a quetion, i don't feel entitled to make an statement since i have little work experience, but i would like to know if people really just see it like that, as is just a bunch as big guys always deciding and workers not having a say on they work when they have being in the company for years.

@martillo de la justicia It's like that for larger companies usually. You can bring up a legit problem you see from the floor to a manager in a meeting, be given a generic "how to win friends and influence people" rehersed answer, then come in the next day to the announcement that manager and employee groups meeting are never happening again. The best thing to do at that point is to keep the resume updated and apply around, or know company policy well enough to call them out on paper about a process or benefit they aren't doing as an example (unemotionally) and see what response you're given then. If it still sounds rehearsed or you get a non answer, then you can pretty much feel safe assuming they don't really care while knowing it optically looks bad for them to be honest about it.

Have you worked any real jobs, you know ones with 2 ten minute breaks and a half our lunch you pay for everyday? Also Tesla is a profitable company unlike twitter for a reason, Tesla is run like a real job. “Benefits” to the vast majority of people are good healthcare, dental, and vision insurance. Individualism has become too prominent in our society. Ego is growing too large. Humans must learn to work together for a bigger more important mission. Elon doesn’t want to hire people whose purpose for work is to meet their personal goals/lifestyle. He wants people whose purpose for work is to meet a greater goal than their own personal wants/interests. Basically like minded people. Which I agree with him on. I think that’s why a movement towards more collaborative effort is growing. People realized that putting their own self and ego aside, and working alongside others as a collective and unifying our goals is much more effective as we are faced with larger issues concerning all of humanity.

I understand why normal people wouldn't want to work with for Musk, but it's a little mediocre. Tesla and Space X both have 10x BETTER talent that Twitter, and that's because the biggest minds need the biggest pushes and challenges. Twitter doesn't have a mission as important for humanity as Tesla or Space X, and as businesses you just can't compare the massive scale of Tesla with the miserable results of post IPO Twitter (You guys screwed Vine and allowed for TikTok to happen...) Tesla isn't generating a lot in profits but you are missing the point. Tesla is investing in massive returns for the future, just the way Amazon is. Twitter employees aren't as productive or profitable as Tesla's, the real reason of the profit comparison is only Twitter's lack of growth. Twitter's lackluster performance would inevitably mean massive layoffs, so all those perks and ultra-high wages would have been for nothing.. Tesla btw is a tech company. They build autonomous technology and software. Batteries will be nothing compared to Tesla's AI.
