Great video. As a customer and Travel Agent I have always had a very positive experience with AF/KL. I have flown AF Dreamliners on their three cabins and the service is always consistently good. Also their flights within Europe are always enjoyable (always a snack is included). In my opinion AF is not suffering a crisis identity like other carrier in Europe that charge legacy airline fares and provide los cost airlines service. I hope they will keep their service level in the upcoming years.

FYI, it wouldn't surprise me if AF cuts down on it in the long run. The AF/KLM group is only profitable due to KLM, AF generally runs losses. Which is basically the root issue of the divide between the two in upper and lower management - AF is trying to pawn KLM's more profitable lines while pushing the responsibilities onto KLM. KLM on its own can't survive due to scale benefits, but neither can AF due to their financial incompetence.

The funny thing I’ve noticed, both as a customer and employee, is that we often get tougher reviews because we are a legacy airline, people will put up with hassles on low cost airlines that they will not accept on bigger, better famed companies, and this even when the cost will be comparable, once all things are taken into consideration: luggage (s) weight, ticketing, refund, delays, et al. that being said, I will always be proud to work for AF, I feel like I am part of a legend, and try to add my little positive input to it, anonymously.

Yes I think you're probably right. I've just seen a French television programme about an AF flight to Japan, where the cabin crew were very professional and at least one of them had taken the trouble to learn Japanese - very impressive, I thought. I also find Roissy a bit difficult to navigate around, but I don't go there very often. I used to fly regularly from Orly to Nice and back and I have always been impressed by the quality of the AF staff both at Orly and especially at Nice, as well as the cabin crew. The son of a friend of mine is an AF long-haul cabin crew member and the last couple of years have been very tough, because of COVID etc. I regularly use the RER B, yes it's true that sometimes there are delays, but it's usually not their fault, but apart from that I don't have any major problems travelling on it. There are now trams that connect with Orly and of course there's OrlyVal which connects with the RER B at Antony which is fast and easy to use. A couple of years ago we took an Air Caraïbes flight to Martinique and the cabin crew, the service and the food were all excellent.

Sure but even worse is an airline using a new aircraft for the first time, first one off the production line lots of new equipment/systems. A'line very very keen to get the plane in the air so no training. At arrival a'port staff can't open any of the entry/exit doors and cabin crew also can't open any doors. Two hours later technician arrives from another city with special equipment/manual needed to open the doors. Full flight, more aware passengers giving cabin crew, purser and pilots who had come out of the cockpit serious abuse for their failure to open the doors, and abuse for the very dangerous situation - if any problem or forced landing it's imperative to get passengers out as quickly as possible. Meanwhile the naive purser is telling the passengers 'isn't it fun'.

And if my crew treated passengers who speak our native language better than those who don't, they'll have some explaining to do. The challenge in this work is communicating with and providing excellent customer service to people you can't communicate with in words because they don't speak your language. Or even a word of English. Going the extra mile means that you, as a flight attendant, learn some words of the country you're flying to. To make passengers feel comfortable and a bit at home. To break the ice. Surprise them in a positive way. It seems like you have no idea what my reply was all about. Everybody in aviation speaks English. It's passengers who often don't. Nice review, I generally say how good an airline is how good their economy product is, as most people don't fly business and so their image is based off this. Had to change flights once before at CDG from transatlantic to European and yes CDG is a maze in connecting flights. Being proactive, showing a smile is hardly difficult and travellers appreciate that warmth, hospitality shown to them.

I'm With you on requesting the back of the plane, Josh. I lucked out last March flying from Los Angeles to Tokyo. I couldn't believe when they closed the door and I had the whole row. Then Tokyo Manila-- almost Full flight.. And nobody in my row again! That was on a 777-300ER and 767 RESPECTIVELY on JAL.. I've never tried Air France or Hop. ...but I love your flight vlogs when you're happy. Merry Christmas

On a flight from Atlanta to Frankfurt, our aircraft was filling up, when a rather attractive lady was going to sit in my aisle seat (I was at the window). I asked her if she snored when she slept, and that was the end of it. She moved, and I was the only passenger in economy to have all 3 seats to myself. Merry Christmas.

I love the exhilaration of take of and landing. Nice for you to show it. I've only done one Air France trip from Frankfurt. Very impressed. Have you done any SAA trips recently?

Lucky guy that transit in CDG was just so easy and no queue at immigration. I did it several times and experienced everything - from no queue to total chaotic immigration were I did not get my connecting flight, with a connection of 1:15h. I always would recommend to only book connection witj at least 2h to be safe- if you need to go through immigration. And, as always, gr8 Video...

Hello Josh. Nice review. However, I am not sure characterizing HOP as the low-cost arm of AIr France is correct. HOP is the regional branch (Transavia the low-cost). Cheers.

I flew on Air France A380 in 2018 from CDG to LAX. Their service was surprising good and professional, unlike many in Paris.

Just two days back, I had a connecting flight at CDG. I could find my way out and had to ask two staffs to find my way. Directions should have been better. No other major airport in the world have this problem. Also, I had to take a train to go from one section of the terminal to another within the same terminal. Plus, had to go through security. Terrible experience. Only thing I liked was that the gates had enough sitting and lot of natural light.

No additional security check in Paris when switching terminals? I had to another one from Terminal 2E to 2F, also connecting from an international flight to a Schengen-flight to Germany on Air France.

I travelled from Newcastle to Tokyo , Japan via Paris with Air France with my Son back in 2019. Best airline ever. Flew in economy and we were so well looked after by the cabin crew. They were great. Kept us hydrated and fed. I even received a complimentary glass of champagne upon departure. I’ll never forget that trip.

When my wife and I travel we book a 3 seat row and book leaving the middle seat open. Very few people want to book the middle seat. Being retired we fly in the less busy times so we usually end up with the seat between us being empty.
