This song means so much to me. My fiance was leaving for Iraq 2 years ago and the night before he was to ship out I stayed awake all night to memorize him to keep him in my heart. My beloved Chris never came back from Iraq, he died there and we never married and became one. I loved him so much and I still can't even look at another man. But I stayed AWAKE and memorized him that night and I will never forget him and how precious he was to me. I love you Chris and miss you so much.

I'm fourteen, and this is the music I am most into. I agree, most teenagers are either into pop or metal, but there are still those who have such a passion for this genre. A beautiful and blinding morning The world outside begins to breathe See clouds arriving without warning I need you here to shelter me And I know that only time will tell us how To carry on without each other So keep me awake to memorize you Give us more time to feel this way We can't stay like this forever But I can have you next to me today If I could make these moments endless If I could stop the winds of change If we just keep our eyes wide open Then everything would stay the same And I know that only time will tell me how To carry on without each other So keep me awake for every moment Give us more time to be this way We can't stay like this forever But I can have you next to me today We'll let tomorrow wait, you're here, right now, with me N' all my fears just fall away, when you are all I see We can't stay like this forever But I can have you here today oooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooo And we'll remember Oh we'lll remember Remember all the love we shared today

Josh Groban is many faceted like a diamond ! He has musical feeling and what lifts him up " head and shoulders above" other ballad singers is his rich exquisite male voice as well as his personal style and song choices. His diction is very good and clear, plus his emotions are neither exaggerated but balance and improve the lyrical content of each song.

I had the honor to see Josh live in GR a couple of years ago. My youngest daughter blessed me with her company. I am a shower, shed, long drive singer that mimics Josh’s songs more than I care to admit. His voice, performances and videos raise me up every day. There is a calm that comes with hearing his music. I am so happy to have lived a life during Josh Groban’s time with humanity. My heart aches with the young woman that lost her fiancé in Iraq. May your loss be lessened by the breadth of emotion shared in Josh’s every song. Kindness, joy and music make us all better people.

While Josh may never read these comments, perhaps, in a way, this song and what I write here can be a comfort to someone else. While this song might be geared more towards a romantic angle, for me, it’s geared towards a mother/son angle. I lost my one and only son, Gianni, before I ever laid eyes on him. And I would never have another. Years later, Gianni began to show up in my dreams, and I was able to learn so much about him. There would be days where I longed to have him by my side. He promised I would always see fragments of him in every person that crossed my path. He continues to hold on to that promise. Then one day, when I going through the motions, I came across ‘Awake’, and Gianni felt more real to me than ever. My Gianni would have been musically gifted in this world, so seeing Josh sing and play the piano made me see so much of Gianni. I felt it was Gianni singing this song to me and sending me a message. When I told my sister, she remarked, “How do you know it’s NOT Gianni? This could be one of the ways he reaches out to you.” And a greater feeling of comfort overcame me. Whenever that deep desire of wanting my son in my life for just a little while comes over me, I return to this song, and another time, I see fragments of my Gianni in every word sang; every note played. So thank you, Josh, for this amazingly beautiful song.

@Ana Martins Gianni lives in your heart, and in every breeze that blows through the trees in summer. He lives in every snowflake and every gentle brook. He looks at you through the eyes of love, for his mama he never knew. Your thank you to Josh brought tears to my eyes and I do hope Josh has been able to read it. His heart would swell with appreciation to know he has touched yours in such a sacred way. Thank you for writing this. Take care of your gentle heart.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story of the love between you and your son. When we leave this earth all we take with us are the love and memories we share. I do believe that our loved ones can reach out to us from the other side but we have to be willing to accept them. There is a wonderful book I read after my mother passed it is Inspired by the Light, and another was Hello from Heaven. Each book helps to confirm our loved ones are still with us.

Just discovered this yesterday, and never did I think a song could bring so much comfort. One of my closest friends tragically passed away three years ago at the age of 23. Since her passing, each day has been a challenge without one of my best friends by my side. She passed unexpectedly so when I said goodbye to her for what I thought would just be the night little did I know it would be the very last. Didn't get the chance to say one last goodbye, give her one last long hug, or tell her just how much she meant to me, and how much she still does. Hearing this helps to feel like she is right here with me, and reminds me that each day is a chance to make her proud and live my life in the way she would want me to. Her loss is always one that is a huge struggle for me, and I miss her more and more with each passing day. I love you, Alexandra. Hope heaven is everything you would want it to be, and that I'm making you proud. I'll see you again someday...
