It was because of Manny, why Angel got chainsawed and nearly Tony. Had he not tried to pick up scantily clad woman on the street, he would’ve seen Angel get forced inside the hotel room by a gunman from outside.

Actually the beginning of Tony's downfall was when the banker tried to explain him about "a new Times magazine article", but instead of listening to him Tony was busy with *his *nose. Later on, is implied the author of that article was the man he had to takedown in New York. And after that, every time Tony does something with *his *nose, someone is trying to tell him something crucial to the plot, but he is distracted. He should have listened to Lopez.

@@christiandupont950 The thing about getting mobs on tax evasion charges is not because these guys are greedy and want to keep all the money. Its because the loundred money comes from cooked books from legitimated bussiness, most of the times these bussiness generate far more money than the bussiness is worth and if you tried to declare everything as legit to the IRS they´ll see that something is off with the bussines. Clean money doesnt neccesary mean taxed money but money that comes from a legitemated place. The more you try to make more fake bussinesses to spread the illegal money the end return from your illegal operations becomes less worthy of doing it, so there is some risk of how much money you can loundry. Its not that the IRS cares that they get their share (which they do) but also from where that share comes from. There is a bottle neck in how much money you can clean to a point that the biggest criminal "empires" in real life will end up with piles of cash that they can´t even use. TL:DR : if you tax all of your illegal money you are gonna get cought for worse crimes than tax evation.

This scene did trigger Tony’s downfall as his wife and best friend began walking away from him; he got greedy and thought he could do everything himself and screwed up, with no one to bounce ideas off of and stupidly trusting Seidelbaum to launder his money. Had he let the bank take more of a cut, he never would have had this problem. By the way, Steven Bauer was so incredibly gorgeous. Mmmmm.🎬❤️🎬

Tony's insatiable hunger for the world and everything in it, got him. He thought the bank was trying to dick him, but turns out he was safer with them than walking into a sting that got him popped. Then, he refused to check his morals at the door when doing a job for Sosa. Kills the button man who was there to blow up a car, which sets Sosa right off and it's on from there. The final blow was finding out that his sister married Manny on the low. Killing Manny pissed off his sister, who then shoots him right as Sosa's hit squad is at his place. He fought it off as long as he could but predictably, he couldn't fight em all and it's the shot from behind that ends it. The one he didn't see coming. After he got popped, it was downhill in a bloody hurry.

If Manny actually was there and got caught, it would of been a lot easier for Tony to not face jail time since he wasn't actually there, could of used a lawyer to help Manny and with his overall attitude, he wouldn't of taken the slight few years on jail as bad as Tony especially with them having the money to be treated much better locked up and how being millionaires in America in jail was a very different experience from when they were in cages in Cuba. Manny always had a grateful attitude of where they presently compared to where they were in the past, where Tony was never grateful and always unhappy with life no matter where he was.

It’s not really about toughness. For someone like him, going to jail for 3 years is a death sentence. In the process of being locked away, his organization gets weak/broken. By the time he’s out, every rival knows that he’ll be trying to make a comeback… which means as soon as he is released, he’s a dead man.

Technically, the start of the end can be attributed to a drug dependency, notably influenced by aggressive tendencies and compounded by obvious PTSD mixed with heavy cocaine use. The tipping point was the evening of the fall, where, if you observe closely, Tony’s wife was the first to introduce him to cocaine sniffing. Cocaine makes you aggressive and dulls your sex drive; if the characters in this movie were true, this would have been the cause. However, if the movie's portrayal of violence in the drug distribution business were accurate, one could also argue that the start of the downfall was getting into the drug business. But than there would be no movie to assess.
