About WGU
WGU is an online university which is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). WGU offers several different Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the fields of IT, Business, Health, and Education.
WGU is unique in the sense that it doesn’t have a traditional quarter or semester system, rather, the students can choose to start whenever they wish. Start dates are set at the first of the month-every month. Another unique property of WGU is that you pay for time instead of credits-that is, you pay for one term at a time (6 months), and you are allowed to complete as many courses as you want within that term, which is key to our speedy completion strategy-more on this later.
It should also be noted that traditional homework is not a requirement to pass classes or graduate at WGU. In order to pass a class at WGU, you must complete one of two things, depending on the class:
Complete the “Objective Assessment”, which is just a multiple choice exam, and/or
Complete the “Performance Assessment, which is essentially an essay.
Some classes will require BOTH an exam and an essay to pass, but I’ve found the classes requiring both tend to be easier and/or less complicated to complete.
Going back to the Objective Assessment class-type, there are actually two types of Objective Assessments. The first type is an exam that was created by WGU in-house, and the second type is an exam that was created by a third-party. These third-party exams are given by well-known vendors such as CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+, etc), Cisco, Microsoft, ISC(2), etc. It should be noted that the third-party exams are much more difficult than the exams given by WGU-this is key to the strategy we will be discussing.
Note: I’ve actually created a video describing how to quickly pass these third-party exams, so check that out here:
How to Pass any Certification Exam
Now for the reason you came, The Speed Strategy.
Step 1: Choose Your Degree
The first step of this strategy is picking your degree. While this may seem obvious, there is some strategy involved in choosing which exact degree you enroll for when speed is your primary concern. Each area of study at WGU has several Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees available. Some of these degrees require you to complete many more third-party exams than others, especially in the IT track.
Take the Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity for instance. You’ll be required to complete over 12 industry certifications in order to graduate. While these certifications are quite useful, due to the difficulty, this will stretch out the time required to graduate by quite a lot. In comparison, the Bachelor’s in IT Management does not actually require any third-party certificates.

In the same boat with you!! But I wasted so much money and time in schools near me...and considering majors that I was not into. Then gave up...and comparison continued with neighbors kids, relatives, cousins...name it people I never met lol But finally in wgu and bec of this guy and couple other youtubers inspired me to give it a try...and after transferring all those classes...now I only need 18 credits to graduate. Not sure if I want to share it with family yet...I am thinking of once I get the job and maybe casually will say "I got the degree on IT management from wgu and now working on MBA there as well...not a big deal! And yes it's a legit school. "

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video you made a year ago. I watched it while I was pondering whether to get a Medical Coding degree, the school I was planning to go to didn't require a High School diploma (I graduated High School in Latin America and my HS diploma is not valid in USA). But, after watching your video I decided to research WGU and found out they had an Academy! And if you pass their 3 month course (a lot of people finish within a month tbh), you have guaranteed admission to WGU. So that's what I did! I'm on my way to getting my Business Administration Degree! And although I won't finish in 6 months, it'll definitely take less than a regular college, and that way I won't accumulate student debt. I only have to thank YOU for it. May God bless you in everything you do. 🤗 THANK YOU!! Btw, after my husband saw me going fast in WGU, he decided to enroll too! Previously he only had an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, now he's enrolled in WGU to be a programmer! 😃

After watching your video I decided to pursue BSBA-Information Technology Management. I started it in March and I passed the final capstone today. The course is 100% completed, while I was working two jobs, and having to help my wife with our two kids (1 and 3 years old). I still have 8 weeks left, even though I took two weeks and a half off. One week I had a work-related trip, the second week, I decided to take a must-needed vacation. Your personal experience plays an important role BUT this is not the main factor. On the other hand, your internal locus of control is. Once you start your term, you are the only variant standing between you and your degree.

Finishing that quickly shocked my employer and immediately began discussions about moving into management way earlier than I would have otherwise. ⭐ Quick announcement ⭐ Lots of people are asking me about how many credits I transferred into my bachelors. I transferred in 56 out of 121: i.imgur.com/k6smjPI.jpg I ended up finishing in about 5.5 months, but I didn't realize how to "accelerate" until after about 3 months. I originally thought I brought in like 30 credits, but I realized it was more after digging up my transcript (see above). For the MS, unfortunately I couldn't transfer in any credits even though I had CISSP. Also, If you're waiting to start your program, but you want to make your spreadsheet on which classes have objective assessments and which ones have performance assessments, you just have to use your ninja Googling skills to figure it out. For example, if you want to figure out the course code and exam type (OA vs PA) for the course "Secure Software Design", I'd do the following Google search: "Secure Software Design" site:wgu.edu filetype:pdf This will usually yield some kind of internal WGU documents describing the course, that usually disclose the course code as well as what is required to pass the course (OA vs PA, or both). I hope this helps!!

Couple of questions if someone can help I'd really appreciate it! 1. Are there any other assignments for the classes or just the course evaluation? 2. Are you able to contact a professor or other professional about the class or only your mentor? 3. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take at one time? 4. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take in a semester? 5. What happens if you fail a course assement? How soon are you aloud to redo it and is there a limited number of times?
@JoshMadakor
@JoshMadakor 3 жыл бұрын
You've asked some great questions! I'll answer in-line below: 1. Are there any other assignments for the classes or just the course evaluation? > Only the Final Exam / Final Essay(s), or a combination of both. No homework 2. Are you able to contact a professor or other professional about the class or only your mentor? > Each class has an instructor assigned to it, and you can hit them up as much as you want. Typically if you fail an essay, you'll be required to meet with the professor to go over your work before submitting it again. I failed most of my essays in my MS because I was rushing hardcore, and I had to meet with the professor every time lol 3. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take at one time? > When you start, you'll be enrolled in 3 classes initially. After you pass those, you can add more classes of your choosing (or let the mentor pick). 4. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take in a semester? > Nope! Which is why WGU is really good. You should watch my video "Is WGU Legit?", it dives into this quite a bit. 5. What happens if you fail a course assement? How soon are you aloud to redo it and is there a limited number of times? > IF you fail once, I believe you can take it again relatively soon. I believe the time period between attempts goes up, the more you fail the same class. I know for the exams, you have to start paying (~$60 maybe?) per attempt because you are being proctored and WGU has to pay for the proctor. If you get time, check out their retake policies: academy.wgu.edu/help-center/academics/retakes

@@haleystamper8489 No problem! Sounds like you already studied all the hard stuff and got that out of the way. Are you going to knock out the BS in CS then?

Hey, thanks for the video. I’m a complete beginner when it comes to cybersecurity or IT in general. I was wondering , considering i am a wuick learner and willin to study for around 10 hours a day. What’s the shortest possible time for me to complete the bachelors in cybersecurity in wgu ? Is it possible in a year or 6 months ?
