We had a Cretan salad in Chania that was life changing, the soft Mizithra cheese was incredible. Sadly you can't find it here in the states, I've searched everywhere! Here in Vegas we eat at Meraki, it's the closest to what we had in Greece.

The bugs are called Tzitziki or tzitzikia ( plural ) They are usually heard in July-early sept. They are completely harmless

I think you are lucky to port in Chania. We ported in Heraklion and while I was excited to go to the palace of Knossos, but we had a bad experience in the city but once we got out it was nice. Overall it was our least favorite port. If we ever go back we Wouk go to the west side where you are. Nice beach. Looks real calm. Beach beer, yes please.

If we recall correctly, it was in the restaurant area, not sure if it was specific to the restaurant itself. We didn’t check anywhere outside of the restaurant area!
