Coco taught me the true meaning of the blues. We met in a bar when he was still playing drums for Albert, 48 years ago. We developed a life-long friendship. I was honored to have been asked to play on his 3rd, 4th, and 5th album. I remember when he was playing here in town in the early 90's and asked me up to play. Josh, then in his teens, was in the audience. I hope he's forgotten me. So cool that these two legends know each other...

That was a great interview! That Eydie Gorme LP with Trio Los Panchos was in just about every Chicano household back in the day! It had some great Requinto guitar playing as well! God bless you Coco!

Thanks Josh for a great interview. As a lover of music, and guitar player, I was living my life through those questions and responses. I did the blues backtrack as well- getting blown away by Mayall, Savoy Brown, Clapton and Beck, and back tracking to Chicago, Texas to pick up on the roots. Fortunate enough to see Albert Collins, Fredding King back in the day. And we all had a watershed moment ( or more) as guitar players. For me- Duane Allman, and guys like Roy Buchanan, Rory Gallagher- guys that took blues and added their beautiful spin to it. And of course Coco, Lucky Peterson, Tommy Castro-guys that are killing it with chops and emotion. And now Josh, who's taken what love, and enhanced it to the next level- no ego at all, just the love of what he does...

Wow. The younger players need to aspire to Coco's attitude and perspective. Playing of course, but the man!! He sets an example for all with his gracious honesty. The best interview I've seen. Thanks Josh and Coco!!

I know of Coco because I am friends with "Uncle Spot" and I got to see one of his amps in Ron's shop... Ron now has my '65 Twin... Coco is the epitome of 'feel'. A real ambassador of the genre.
