His style is unmatched. I would give anything to be able to play with such emotion, with such a power that would make a person weep.

Joshua Bell is an amazing violinist!! I can only dream of being as good as him. He is so into the song.Whatever song he is playing he feels the song's sorrow and joy. It takes a true virtuoso to do that!! His emotional songs bring me to tears every time!!!

So did I!! When I heard him again on "Ladies in Lavender" and simply HAD to have more. I know elegies are melancholic, but I light up listening to this incredible piece.

The title of the album was definitely appropriate. It's like a new romance, when all you desire is to make love constantly. It sends chills down my spine.

I understand what some comments say about playing Elegie in a slow and dignified manner. But what Joshua Bell makes me feel with his interpretation is a keen and poignant pain. His violin sounds like a young man crying over the loss of a dear friend. I suppose there are as many ways to play Elegie as there are ways to feel and express pain. I don't think either is right or wrong, but maybe some interpretations speak to us more than others because of where we are in life.

@AmiableOrchid I agree with that. It's the epitome of romance. This piece, "Élégie: O doux printemps d'autrefois" just about does it for me. I listen to this piece constantly for the emotion that Joshua Bell brings to it. He's just amazing! :)

Is Joshua Bell the descendant of Joseph Bell? I read his father was of Scottish ancestry.

im not sure when this performance took place, but i saw him in N.J. around 8 years ago, 3 rd row. He has developed greatly as an artist since then to the point where I have become very impressed with his artistry. This piece however, is played way to fast for my tastes. Listen to it being performed by Ponselle, or Anderson, or Chaliapin, it is taken much slower, and at a pace more appropriate I think for an elegy.

Гениальный скрипач, нет слов, браво, но зачем так сильно раскачиваться во время исполнения? На мой взгляд это сильно портит презентацию.
