"Wow, what a great film, I can't believe how some of the reviewers did not enjoy this movie!!!! Sure some of the acting wasn't that great. The music really set the tone on Williamson's character. He was quiet, calculative and ominous. He wasn't riding to play no games, nor have much conversation - he was riding to avenge his mothers death and the music and lack of dialogue from him showed that.
Some people are just to critical on films like this. This movie was not made to win no Oscars or any other awards. It was made to entertain, and in my opinion it really did do just that for me. For those whom tend to be to critical I say - LIGHTEN UP!!! Just stop looking for things to complain about with a movie like this and just enjoy it.

"This film I consider a very good example of how a film may elicit a variety of responses. I have learned not to take too seriously the comments by others or I may miss a real gem. Not that I would put this film in the gem category but definitely the good side of in-between. I am amazed to read how some abhorred the music. I recall how the music in Keoma drove some people crazy while others (like me) liked it. In Joshua the music fit the film perfectly, especially the low growl when the camera turned to the black rider. So (as we well understand) people's tastes vary. I went for the acting in this one also. I even liked the bad teeth on those ugly bad guys. Though I prefer an unpredictable story line, this film can be good when one prefers sometime something simple. Credibility got stretched for my taste but the music saved it for me. Not bad. That syndrome of falling in love with capture wasn't yet explored. She ended falling in love with the bad guy. With the exciting and dangerous life she ended up enjoying it or it was her way to survive the bad guys. He could have saved her and see if she was still willing to be with her older husband or find her way in the hostile land. It wasn't easy for a woman to make it without a husband

The main character is Black and Dine' is speaking from the Black Community Perspective and Culture as it relates to anyone harming and disrespecting our mothers. We aren't saying other ethnic, cultural, and racial groups don't feel the same about their mothers. We are just sharing, expressing and conversing among each other and ourselves how we feel about our Mamas. I do enjoy this movie. It is a 10 in my book, and if Hollywood ever decides to do a remake, I would like to see the director and writers develop it more. What I don't like about the movie is how she ended up falling for the bad guy and staying with him. Whether it was because it was a survival mechanism, she enjoying the thrill of dangerous antics, her feeling guilt and shame and unworthy of returning to her husband, or developing feelings for her captor, she still was violated and a victim of rape and torture. She was physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually, and spiritually abused and scared. There is no coming back from that. I truly feel sadness and pity for her and the fact the movie didn't really delve into this aspect of the times of racism, racial bias, sexism, and victim shaming that occurred then.
