Randy Travis amazed me in how well he performed in acting. He always seemed rather quiet and reserved on stage and in interviews. I admired his voice and his selection of songs. He has an authentic Country Music sound. Quite like Meryl Haggard. The lead actor was excellent.

OMG what a great Western story of justice and redemption. Randy Travis was so cold mean and believable, great acting Randy! I see below some people dissed his acting. But I've known real cowboys who were just like this character. Of course they weren't shooting the Mayor or setting people up, but the cold steel calmness as they do atrocious things to people. So I found Randy's acting believable! The actor Micheal Dudikoff playing the lead man Michael, looks like he could be Brad Pitt's younger brother! I've never seen him in a film before. I loved the pinto Michael got to ride, it looks like one of the horses we had on our ranch! Great classic western theme! Thanks for sharing this film. ✌🇨🇦🐎🤠

Main bad guy in this Western was Dudicof Commanding officer in "The Lieutenant" one of the Best Vietnam War films ever produced!! Usually associated with Martial Arts films of his youth, this is a whole different deal!! Presenting us with an "A" Western during Western lean times. Those of us liking this genre are in awe of this performance!!

Based on what is known today--there were no "fast draw artists" in the old west--especially when shooting rom the hip. Ed McGivern showed thee things were not possible due to the time, money, and fragile guns. Few--if any--had the time or finances to train enough to develop any real skill.
@johnstanley7442 Жыл бұрын
@@robertwatson818 Yeah, but there WERE people who WERE fast, and, especially since your opponent could MISS, or, if you were initially wounded, but NOT incapacitated, being ABLE to draw and stop them QUICKLY actually COULD save your life. Being too-slow to prevent them from taking a final, well-aimed, follow-up shot could make all the difference. This was why 30-year Border Patrolman Bill Jordan not only advocated, but taught legitimate, no-nonsense fast draw, hip-shooting, AND its practical applications, to anyone who had the good sense to-listen. One of his friends, an astonishingly-capable Oklahoma Highway Patrolman, was on the same page. Early-on, when the fledgling FBI, who'd been working in more of a forensic accounting role, realized that they were going to have to be able to transition to more dangerous, face-to-face confrontations, they literally sent-out TALENT SCOUTS to scary-violent Texas and Oklahoma boom towns, to hire local lawmen who were known, hard-bitten, deadly gunfighters, to come get them up-to-speed. That is not a "legend," but simply what-happened, because it was NECESSARY. The British Commandos were ALSO taught hip/point/snap-shooting techniques, for good reason, and a person CAN learn to quickly dispatch opponents at close range without THAT much practice ammo. AND...CLOSE RANGE was usually the range at which most encounters happened, and still is. The "fragile" guns of the Old West might have been the open-top Colts, or the early attempts at manufacturing Double Action models, but I've only ever had ONE single action revolver go-down, and that was due to ONE defective cylinder pawl, ANOTHER reason, aside-from slow-reloading, that people are visibly toting TWO hog legs in some old photos, and why Cavalrymen would be seen not only their belt holster, but double pommel holsters. McGivern was a marvelously talented shooter, who became blindingly-fast, with his ammo manufacturer's corporate ammo-supply-backing, but that does NOT mean that fast draw or hip-shooting was "not possible," or "never happened." ONE man's admittedly astonishing exhibition shooting capability does not "mean" that he was the be-all and end-all of insight as to what "could" be or what WAS being-done, at times, even with some of those old weapons, though, yeah, the Dime Novel writers absolutely WERE known to embellish. As-far as there being no fast-draw hip-shooting, in the Old West, the Marshal played by Billy Bob Thornton in the recent mini series 1883 was, IN REAL LIFE, shot REAL-DEAD, in just such an exchange. Calling-out another known gunman, up in "Hell's Half-Acre," in north Fort Worth, the two exchanged words, and when the New Mexico gun hand absent mindedly hitched-up his britches, the Marshal mistook this movement for his going-for his hog leg, and drew FIRST, but his opponent STILL beat him, anyway. There would NEVER have been "time-to take-aim," in that scenario. As Bill Jordan used-to caution, "Speed's FINE, but ACCURACY is FINAL." A person SHOULD learn to draw-fast, with their finger OUTSIDE of the trigger guard, and using wax-loads, powered ONLY by a primer, with no powder, learn point-shoot, and HIT the target, with EITHER hand, if they can, though I certainly do acknowledge that the staged, showdown/staredown, slap-leather street scenes ARE ridiculous! IF you can resize your brass, and install primers, wax loads are EASY to make, and, though you do NOT want to be hit by one, they're still safer that learning using live ammo. Just don't go doing this around anyone named Alec Baldwin. Wax bullets have been used to train, "forever," including by French dueling instructors, in old single-shot dueling pistols.
@robertwatson818 Жыл бұрын
@@johnstanley7442 Jordan had a single thing in his favor--and it is the single most important one--access to a range regularly. Where I live range access is VERY difficult to get. Also someone else was paying for his ammo. I used to shoot 500 to 1000 rounds a week for over 15 years and it was not enough to bring me to a world level.

Two observations: 1) bones in the hero's smashed hands healed amazingly quickly and 2) too many man-a-Mano face offs. These guys could learn from Tuco's line in " Good/Bad/Ugly"--"If you're going to talk, talk, but if you're going to shoot, shoot,"

I agree on the crushed hands. Even with today's surgery, and rehab, etc., with that type of damage, a man would be very lucky if he could wipe his own butt, much less be proficient with, or even use, a handgun, ever. The movie was good, but that was very unrealistic. Nitpicking, I know, but I like to observe stuff like that in movies.
