But I can tell you that he is one of the rare cases where content creators stay just as humble as they were when they started. Can’t wait for the rest of the series, just got the Radiomaster pocket and have around 4-5 hours on Liftoff. Threw myself in without much understanding and was just yeeting the drone around in acro till I got the hang of flying around but only at speed. Got excited and started doing slipstream with cars on the short circuit and was loving that a lot. Realised I can’t fly slow and precise so loaded up the less forgiving level, Minus Two. Spent some time on that, went from banging the ceiling, floor and pillars none stop, to be able to fly around way more comfortably. Still struggling to make tighter turns without my drone drifting away but learning slowly.

Your how to fly series is excellent for beginners. I wish I had these “how to fly freestyle” when I started fpv over 10 years ago. I came from the school of expensive hard knocks. lol. Anyway, my biggest breakthrough when I started I was flying 15-20 meters in the air. I did that no problem. But I wasn’t learning close proximity flying. So I went straight to flying low to the ground and maintaining a very short amount of altitude from the ground. Like when you see every blade of grass low. And I gradually sped up without increasing altitude until I could pretty well much go flat out a few inches above the ground. When I turned at speed, that taught me precise stick movements paid dividends. And after a short while, I could start doing my first tricks, like a forward flat spin. That was the breakthrough for me. Sure, I broke a few drone arms. And yeah, my first freestyle 5” quad was totally destroyed quickly. I learnt my first bit of close proximity flying by learning to fly as close to the ground as possible at a reasonable high speed, while being able to pitch and yaw just using micro movements until my confidence increased to the point where I did my first trick. Then I learnt the reverse flat spin and after that, my flying skills moved way forward quite quickly. The first Fpv freestyle quad I bought was a pre built Impulse RC 5” quad. From then on I built all my quads and repaired them. And rebuilt them. But geez, it’s been a helluva lotta fun flying them.
@stevemartin22745 ай бұрын
I'm just about to complete this section of the training. This course is brilliant. I kept crashing because l was used to flying DJI VLOS and, you guessed it! I was pushing the pitch stick forward and not releasing it, somersaulting and ending belly up. Thanks Joshua. 🎉

Boy Joshua, I am glad you put this series out. Yeah back in the day we didn’t have lift off, or f4 f’s but seeing this after 3 years of not flying, I kind of want to get into it again. I have no idea what my firmware is on my quads. I’m still on the old AACS d9. It should still work. I guess.
@SiddharthBhadauria Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this ! As a DJI Pilot I was confused if I need to hold the pitch stick or not, I though if I don't hold it, it will make the pitch 0 as soon as I leave the stick and not move forward continuously. Now it makes sense. Waiting for the next video as I can now move forward fine, but suck at turning :P

Not bad at all! That's about the cheapest you can get into the hobby while still having something worthwhile. Just be sure to spend time in the sim first in an effort to minimize crashes with your real gear. Get the regular one. The mechanics of acro is the same. I think it's just the scale of the maps that differ, and when starting out you want lots of space! When I fly cinewhoops indoors I fly in angle mode but outside it's all acro regardless of type of drone.

In aviation control law speak: With DJI controls, the right stick commands the aircraft to translate laterally along an axis; the greater the deflection, the greater the translation rate. With an acro drone, the right stick commands the aircraft to rotate about an axis, and the greater the deflection, the greater the rotation rate.

Hi guys, I have an important question to ask you. I purchased a used DJI FPV controller. Both on liftoff and on another simulator if I only increased the throttle I saw that the quad was going to the left. I calibrated the controller several times and finally solved the problem by putting a deadband of 0.01 on the Roll axis. is it serious? in the sense that if one day I want to use this controller with a real drone it will be a serious burden?
