This is such a great and helpful video ! NOBODY had explained this so simply and beautifully, it's like you're actually teaching us the basics so we understand what we want to do and can then think about doing it, not the other way around!

Hello @JoshuaBardwell. Thank you for this tutorial. There is a difference between your explanation and the tutorials in the sims. The problem is that sims give: 1) make yaw and 2) make pitch. And you say make a pitch and then yaw. Your explanation is much more intuitive. Pitch and roll controls where the drone flies, and yaw controls where you watch. Only, after your explanation I got this. I'm from Ukraine. For sure, this knowledge is important for me.

Simply Superb and Amazing the way Joshua Bardwell has been teaching the basics and understanding of flying FPV drones. No body has ever taught the basics so closely and with minutest of details. From the start I am totally hooked up to it and trying to learn the basics. Kudos Joshua, I am fan.

I'm going to go through and watch all the vids as I am an eager learner. Been practicing on liftoff and uncrashed but needed and appreciate your vids. This helps get more of an understanding of the how and why's:) I have an avata 2 and been flying manual mode for the last month or two and hit 72mph recently. Was with a strong tailwind of course lol

these are nice videos when you already know how to fly and I don't want to downplay the importance of these videos, but in general my suggestion is just run some sim, choose a map you like and try to follow checkpoints. you will be falling all the time and will be making some weird movements at the beginning, but just try doing some short sessions going through the checkpoints until your fingers got tired. have some rest, maybe a day. it’s fine, because your fingers already remembered what you’ve learned. in a week (I’m judging by myself) you’ll be flying the whole track at a slow speed. then just repeat this each day several times and you’ll fly better. this is like driving a bike, you can do it or you can’t. just keep trying to do these simple steps. when you feel confident enough choose another map

Want to add that I gave up flying a year ago trying to follow these kind of videos. Began again a month ago just by trying the steps I’ve mentioned above and it worked

I always think about where my props are and where they blow air, because that's exactly opposite of where I'm going. Thanks JB. ♥ First lesson was enough for me to get it, but I still struggle Minus Two map, it's so scary to have no sky over your head. 😂

Hey JB, It helps to demonstrate the effect of yaw if you have a quadcopter in hand. Great tutorials as always.

This is great! The only suggestiong I would have is using graphical examples. Small shots while you talk that show on a cartesian plane where the vectors are to the drone.

I’ve been flying on angle/ horizon since Xmas - and thought I was getting the hang of it…… then I turned on acro to fly like in this video (thanks for this playlist! ⭐️👌🏻)…… oh my god what a difference. I could not fly at all 😂. Back to square one again.

I've been learning in the simulator by just 'doing' for a while now, and even though I intuitively managed to get a grasp of it, I feel I understand turns better now that you've broken it down like this!

Oh dear! I am trying to follow your series and it is harder than I thought. Saw you in episode 7 gliding through that house... I really would like to do that, but on the field I am still struggling with maintaining altitude after a slow turn. But thank you for sharing...

I think the turn is such a challenging move, especially when you have 2 sticks that have 4 functions each. It's such a great exercise to avert Alzheimer and dementia 😂 I am not sure if I sure pay too much attention to the overlay image of the sticks on the screen. I think that's distracting me.

I wish that sims explained drone piloting step by step like this, rather than doing the "first hover, then glide, now draw the rest of the owl" thing.

What I'm noticing from these videos so far with the way the quad responds to inputs is it's much like in the game Elite Dangerous with flight assist off. Which. I. Hate! 🤣 So guess if I want to get good at fpv drone flight I'm going to need to get used to 👍

Is 'huvver' American for hover? Do you guys actually spell it different as well or do you just pronounce it differently and still spell it in English..? I've never heard anyone say it like that before.. Do you call a hovercraft a huvvercraft as well..?! Anyway, daft questions out of the way.. This content is gold. I'd watched the first vids and got ok at hovering and moving forwards, going over stuff etc, but couldn't help getting slightly ahead of myself last time I was on the sim and trying to turn.. Watching this though, I can see why I was finding it so hard.. The way you explain things is brilliant 👏

should mention the fact that after you roll left then yaw left, that roll angle then becomes your forward pitch angle.
