This conversation was so interesting, and weirdly I could relate but it's opposite since I grew up in U.S. I love listening to your conversations, Joshua-san!
This was very interesting. I was born in Japan but have been living in the US for the past 41 years, and I can not write Japanese anymore. (I am ethnically Japanese. So, I look Japanese, of course.) For some reason, I felt so close to this lady (Mayca?).
(15:00) You’re absolutely correct in saying that the offsprings of those who migrate to another country become citizens of the adopted country. It’s obvious in a country of immigrants such as here in NZ and the US for that matter. Wherever their parents originally come from, those who are born and raised here in NZ are regarded and treated as Kiwis. While I do acknowledge that it does not equally apply to JPN and other countries which are not countries of immigrants, the principle remains the same and must prevail as there are more and more immigrants in those countries. Perceptions must change as things change.
