To be fair, Runics are a draw engine with 20 instant fusions and the only requirement being your deck probably having to wait a turn to kill, which most modern decks can easily afford. Tenpai honestly... is a lot more limited in terms of deck building restrictions than Runick, one of your best ways to play through interruptions Limits your options quite extensively. Honestly the snake eye player here played this incredibly poorly, the Bystial engine was hardly doing anything and they still hard played into it in a way that benefited their opponent more than them.

There are 2 most common mistake from duelists: 1. refusing to read the activated effects 2. trigger happy - activating effects that pops out. That first tenpai player has both. Sadge he's already winning but throwed the game.

Yes we do just throw tenpai in everything. If you draw any of them, you threaten game. Which forces them to use their interactions and you can play with your actual win con after that. They go hard with dragon maid, because kitchen is searchable off all of them.

Clearly their intent in designing Tenpai was to make going second an option, which it does, too well. I don't think they originally intended to make going first decks so powerful to essentially push out blind second decks, therefore worse design.
