it's looking pretty good imo. the general power level of SUDA and ALIN (what we know so far) looks pretty healthy. tcg only archetypes are good, structure decks are back, lots of reprint sets... I hope they keep designing cards and archetypes that aren't obviously broken because we don't need any more T0 formats

I'm a Yubel enjoyer, and while I enjoyed the deck a lot, it was very oppressive, so I like that what we have so far from 2025 is slowing down a lot and previous decks are being hit, and the format is in a much better place for it.

I always cheered for Yubel support but uhhhhhh they kinda overdid it... I like the Dragon Link-like pile you could make with it but the stuff just was too generic even tho it felt like it shouldn't for some cards. Like I NEVER would've thought of including Sacred Beast stuff with Circle and Dark Beckoning Beast

On Maxx C, I do think the reason the card remains semi-limited ATM is because of the trial decks that are out in the OCG. Eldlitch, Cyber, and Live Twin all have 2 copies in the deck. They are printing those in demand and also the reason why we got support for all 3 archetypes, because a new player can just slot those right into their existing trial decks.

Tenpai as a dragon engines and not just a going second strategy is actually quite fun. Easy synergy with dragon rulers for example

In MD's solo gates mode, my favorite way of playing Tenpai is not pure, but mixed with P.U.N.K. for some of the truest "no such thing as overkill" kind of damage it can put out. Living it out with a PEP with 8.1k+ ATK, a Ukiyoe with 3.6k + 2 attacks, then Tenpai things.

In the OCG, ryzeal does not do the hand loop combo but Eclipse Twins is always played to revive your Dednader. But with Orcust in the OCG Metagame right now, the handrip combo is less than optimal

As for the banlists discussion: tone down end board pieces, keep banning/hitting floodgates, keep designing interactive decks instead of negate-heavy ones, and we’re in for a hell of a year

Id say this year we have a much much higher chance for the tcg exclusive to be meta relevant. I've watched a lot of mitsurugi testing and played it myself and this first wave is already as good as the entire mimighoul support. If we get even 1 more good card out of 7 in 3 months in ALIN we have a solid tier 2, if they are as good as this first wave then it has really top tier potential

I typically LOVE alternate arts and borders. But for yugioh specifically, I actually kinda dislike it. Yugioh kinda runs on the idea that both players need to already know all the cards before they can play the game well. The art exists to jog your memory about which card it is. You're not supposed to pick up and read most cards during the game, given how little the text is and how much there is. So I think the art should be kept the same to keep that connection.

I think 2025 is gonna a good yr and we're starting off pretty good. What i think needs to happen is yugioh needs to slow down on the power creep and stop making crazy decks like the last top 3 decks as they dominated the format and ppl weren't happy aboutbpkayijg against them at all. I also think we need to take a more direct approach and hit cards faster like they did for fiendsmith and ryzeal. Lastly, I think we need to change the way our rarities are in the boxes, and I mean instead of having secret rares, we have just have ultra and some other high rarity like collectors rare. The ocg has good rarities, and the cards are a lot cheaper over there, so if we only print say, secret rares in like a megatin for an upgraded version, then yugioh becomes cheaper and not out control and paid behind $1k decks that only KZbin rs and rich ppl can afford.
