if we make endboards breakable again instead of 8+ distruptions im all for banning maxx c but aslong we have boards that not been breakable w 6 cards we sadly need it, in a bo1 where coinflip allready is a huge factor. i hate w a pation combo decks that end up on way to many negates/ista removals like ip in sp. its for me personal a downturner and im on the edge of quitting md (actually since over a year but paleo saved it for me ) but losing coinflip and then watching a 30min unskipable movie to the bottomline that i cant play because everything get negated/removed is kind dumb and soley for that reason i respected maxx c. not because its so powerfull just for the fact it stiked fear in the eyes of a person that doing combo 1337 from spreadsheet 557. if maxx c gets to 0 and combo endboards dont get nerfed i can just say i never would be happier to hit uninstall

​@@undertaker8187 that's exactly what Josh was talking about and why the ocg and MD just couldn't ban maxx c yet, they know a lot of decks are too crazy and therefore they keep maxx c as a bandaid in the game. The main problem is that they don't seem to want to tune down the overall powerlevel of decks yet so outright banning maxx c will take a while. Maybe when ryzeal drops and games become more grindy instead of ftk simulator the maxx c ban will come.

That's just Master duel they rarely like to ban cards unless they are a serious problem like if your opponent can play 2 cards and your entire 5 card hand is useless they know when things like this happen because they collect information on what cards were activated before someone scoops and they start reviewing duels when it happens repeatedly which can warrant a ban like when floodgates are too easy to use along with omni negates and indestructible monsters I'm surprised winda and the barrier statue chimera plays weren't hit too but I'm sure it's only a matter of time

Buffing Branded was a weird choice since the deck was already the 2nd best right between Snake eyes fire king and Yubel. Nerf number 3 (Yubel deserved it) but buff number 2 (Branded did not need it) is weird. They're small changes but non-sensical nonetheless.

@ Just because MDM says that Branded is the second best deck doesn't always mean that that is the truth. I think the deck is very beloved which makes it over-represented. The deck is not overpowered, it is healthy when it doesn't lock (competitive lists are not doing that) and has still big weaknesses. It is fine to bring its consistency up

Lab is honestly scary with furniture's at 3 with peformapal floodgate and transaction rollback being broken with random blowout traps and floodgate traps. But at the same time it's OK because those cards are usually bricks without furniture's idk

@@candlelit77 the thing is, lab will propably play fuwalos now. Even before fuwalos you barely played discard-engines, because they brick often and if lab bricks, it loses. So even with all fuenitures lab would propably not play 6 cards, which are potentially dead with 3 fuwa and 3 rollback. Only thing it does, it lets you play your traps on turn 2 by going second, which is a good thing imo.

Sar is way bigger for branded than either aluber or opening. I know a lot of top level players who aren’t even that high on opening at 3 to begin with. And some people don’t even run 3 aluber. When this deck dies it’s usually because it dies to normal summon into imp’ed. Sar and opening both bigger deals. Especially together. Because now you get advance off of sar discard with both opening and high spirits. Plus Sar line with merc helps you extend past hand traps. And in general people way over exaggerate sanc. Going for a lock is so volatile and it leads to bad end boards. Especially with Ladd out now. Why go for a lock when you can put up 3 omnis with better end board overall. Also Sanc used to be the maxx C line. It’s not good enough anymore. Because sanc is a relatively weak tower that can be beat over and in order to survive your opponent has to severely misplay into an albaz. Most top branded players aren’t even playing sanc at all. Neither am I. And I don’t miss it. Imo sanc is a slightly above average card on its own merit. If it went away I don’t think anyone would miss it. It’s a decent tower that in Archtype can help you maximize albaz. But you have other ways to do that to. And some other utility with reviving old fusion summons like borrel etc. maybe steal another useful monster from opponent. But it’s always going to be best to just ban all the dark floodgate monsters who can be abused because that’s what’s abused. More people care about using sanctifier than ddd. Or any of the other cards. Who the heck is playing ddd or using gimmick puppet nightmare in gimmick puppet decks.

Thanks to amazing content Josh! I just have to disagree with the branded situation. Saying that Krystia and Vice King Requiem make Albion banworthy is to me similar to comparison between Maxx C and Fuwalos, because to set it up consistently, first you need to be a really good Branded player, and even then you cant just go for these cards always when the opponent could just tribute summon over them or send them for cost for droplet or something. These cards dont have lingering effects like Gimmik Puppet and allow outplay potentialy. You just cant say that the full branded board is harder to beat than Snake Eyes, Yubel or anything like that even with the "floodgaty" effect witch makes it even debatable should you even play that brick in the deck since it can be outed in so many ways. In some situations it is an FTK but every competitive deck has FTK boards and I think there are more problematic cards than Albion because of that.

Sphere Mode seems kind of absurd, but not nearly as much, it's balanced by 2 things, the most obvious being that a board with less than 3 monsters leaves you with an absolutely useless brick in hand, hence why it is usually a strict side deck card. Two being that you sacrifice the ability to normal summon the turn you use Sphere mode, with normal summoned monsters usually having the best effects to advance a deck's strategy. The only reason Sphere Mode seems absurd is that protection or locking against tributing monsters is very rare, and tributing is not something you can stop by reacting with an effect, even when you're tributing as part of an effect because an effect that tributes as the effect instead of a cost is really rare and not good anyway.

As a person whose majority of games in Master Duel are with Branded here are my comments that no one asked for: 1) Right now most people do not even use Sanctifire to lock. Some people play him as their way to "beat" Maxx C and even then you need to play The Golden Swordsoul to make him impactful enough on its own. I understand that getting sacked by a floodgate strategy on ladder feels awful though, therefore I agree he should get banned. 2) Buffs for my pet deck are always nice. Still, no idea why buff branded out of all things, there are decks much weaker than branded that could use some unlimits, people are getting top 100 and top10 spots in the DC with the deck. 3) Hitting Maxx C is awesome. Fuwa and Purulia are very well designed cards and they work against degen combo decks the best whereas maxx c works against everything.

How is sending The Golden Swordsoul better than Quem as fusion material for Sanctifire? I usually send Albaz and Quem, so I could reborn Quem to send retribution for follow up, and Quem effect to reborn Albaz to fuse into Mirrorjade if my opponent summons from the extra deck. It feels like Quem gives enough Value for the Sanctifire play against Maxx C.

The floodgates hits are a bonus for me on this list, the real treat is seeing Maxx c finally getting hit. Too all those out there who said "You're just coping thinking they're going to hit Maxx c.", this one is for you. Also, I agree with the thing Josh said about hitting generic end board pieces... Again, I think the TCG is ahead on this point; they should definitely hit baronne, Appolousa, ect; I think IP and SP are probably fine, they're just quality cards, not something that act like a pseudo floodgate or invalidate other hand traps.

You are right that combo decks need to be kept in check. Go ahead and ban maxx c, but nerf decks to the point that they cannot set up a powerful endboard of omninegates and yet have too much follow up for next turn. Remember the good old days of swordsoul? They had baron chixiao and protos endboard which was quite powerful but if you managed to deal with that, they run out of followup quite easily because swordsoul doesn't really have ways to recycle cards. Sure they can draw another mo'ye or taia but the followup turn will be much weaker than the first turn. Decks that can put out omninegates should not be able to recycle multiple resources from the grave. Snake eye has incredible graveyard recursion, but at least they have to wait a turn to use the second effect of original sinful, wanted, etc and generally do not end on omni negates. Just nerf fire king a little bit. Yubel has an omninegate but they can only recycle yubel cards and run out of followup quite easily. No need to nerf Yubel Spright is a fair deck because although it can put out multiple negates, the way they recycle cards is through spright elf which can be negated and requires 2 bodies. Spright can run out of resources quite easily. On the other hand, decks like Chimera, White forest, Centurion need to be nerfed much more because they have too much followup. Chimera can recycle chimera fusion on their turn, white forest can recycle the synchro monsters back to the extra deck, centurion phalanx can recycle on your turn. These decks will never run out of resources. It becomes unfair to play against these decks going second because even if you deal with the board, they will have an equally powerful second turn. The game should not be decided by a coin flip. Get rid of Gimmick Puppet and Mathmech too and maybe put big welcome to 2. The game is fked now.

As a branded player I do of course love the list. I don't even play sanctifire anymore and I think most branded players don't play the the lock anymore. With ladd being out locking your opponent really isn't that good anymore so I would actually like sanctifire to be banned cus it's a pretty toxic card and thing you can unfortunately summon with verte ofc (I have seen chimera play vice King + sanctifire with verte which is very annoying)

we have 5 format: TCG, OCG, China OCG, Master duel, Asia English and Maxx c only banned in 1 format, if maxx c banned it just TCG format

You forgot 2 formats, Brazil is TCG but the card releases aren't scheduled the same way as Europe and NA because Brazil still publishes YGO through a national company that was part of WotC. And Korea OCG that basically operates like Brazil, idk if for the same reasons but probably yes, except it uses the OCG banlist.

why would you not just craft all 3? when a card gets banned or limited you can dust it for the full amount. so if you had 3. you can now dust 1 for 30cp.

This list is almost perfect Maxx C however is one of these cards that should be either at 3 or 0 however. Also no Shifter ban and honestly Droll is in the same boat even if it doesn’t do much. Wouldn’t mind honestly seeing the game progress towards branded power level minus LADDL. Because Sanctifire is a necessity so you don’t die to Maxx C in Branded. So the card theoretically is fine especially since floodgate Branded is a lot weaker than regular Branded atm. Otherwise the list is awesome
