Contemporary Hifiman QC concerns are definitely overblown. Back in the day when they were a much newer brand, yes their QC was not up to snuff. Nowadays, they seem to be on par with similarly popular brands. Their build quality doesn't always feel as premium as other brands, but that could also be said about a brand like Sennheiser which has very good QC. For the unveiled, I personally would not feel comfortable because of its unveiled nature, not because I'd be concerned with Hifiman's QC.

HIFIMAN Arya Organic has great high frequencies, providing transparent, light, airy and comfortable sound, and they also have cool and powerful bass, which makes the sound warm. In the audio store I heard great sound, and at home through FiiO K9 Pro ESS the sound was sharp, synthetic, cold and weak bass. Hey Joshua, I keep seeing reviewers ignoring how do a specific headphone do with different genres. For example, the Stealth is terrible for metal music. Is that the case with the Unveiled?
@ChrisStoneinator10 сағат бұрын
Cuz that's not a real thing. Any two albums from any genre can be recorded, mixed, mastered and EQed entirely differently. Even if they're stylistically really similar... You can listen to British Steel by Judas Priest on a certain headphone, think "that sounds as good as I've ever heard it! Let's listen to some more NWOBHM", then put on Denim & Leather by Saxon and find it sounds shit. Another headphone might give you the opposite experience. Outside of spatial resolution being important for orchestras, and bass quantity being important for the bulk of EDM, there's really no rhyme or reason. Heck, the most fun I've ever had with 2001 by Dr Dre was on a pair of Stax.

The question between the clear and arya imo is in the resolution not detail. The clear has very good dynamic range which can make details quieter, so it’s possible to have more resolution yet less detail. Even vs the HD600 sometimes the clear sounds like much much more resolution but some details harder to hear cause they’re so quiet compared to the 600. I’ve only heard the clear, so I would love if someone who has heard both headphones can talk about resolution instead of detail.

Why the Fenestrated Sheepskin especially? Judging from the Comparison on Dekonis website the Elite Hybrid seems to have the exact same FR, but with a bit less treble?

@FabioGrenkh Because it has something that can't be measured by FR, and it's a more open sound. Since the fenestrated sheepskin has a more open sound, it doesn't affect the soundstage as much as the hybrid elite despite being thinner than the pads that came with it.

I mean, that's mainly why Sennheiser has been selling the same headphone for more than 20 years and increasing their price year after year with technology from the 2000s. They don't want to create new types of technology and develop because many people still buy their stuff. It's called technology advancement, which many headphone companies do not want to follow because it's easier to sell a $30 cost-to-build HD600/650 for $500 and keep selling them for another 20 years.

Except the fact that Hifiman has never once posted a single piece of PR claiming that one revision was better than its predecessor, only different. They leave it up to the people to decide which one the individual likes best. They also release every Arya no more expensive that the original Arya. No one has to "upgrade", because they have never called them upgrades in the first place. There are still people who prefer the Arya V1 to everything that followed. I don't fault Hifiman or Dr. Fang Bian for continuing to tinker. You cite Meze when they literally release an Empyrean 2 shortly after the first at an even higher price. There are three major issues with your reviews recently. First, your reviews have become more general and less audiophile-focused with each video you publish. You miss tons of information in your videos, such as bass definition, speed, texture, bass reverb, scale, midrange clarity, space, sound height, and treble area information like the leading edge and overall information extracted from audio files. Second, you keep changing the cables to aftermarket ones. The cable change affects the sound significantly, and I don't understand why reviewers change the cable when they review it. HiFiMan's own cable is much better tuned with their headphones than many of the $1000 cables I have tested. You show the headphones with aftermarket cables. Third, you didn't mention what source you used. Aune and Topping are awful sources with HiFiMan headphones. You used a $700 Aune source with their super flagship Susvara Unveiled , which ruined the headphone. You should ask HiFiMan to send the Serenade + Prelude for reviewing their headphones. You're making more and more general content without going into the details for such products that need a lot more information shared about them. Don't just compare them with the $180 HD6XX and call it a day.
@RaKnows12 күн бұрын
"The cable change affects the sound significantly.....HiFiMan's own cable is much better tuned with their headphones than many of the $1000 cables I have tested" Sorry but if you really believe this, you are too far lost in audio myth to be worth taking seriously. Cables don't matter. I'm not even an audio objectivist and know this to be hard fact.

Yeah, what a bad take comment. First off, Josh has never went into that much detail regarding specific characteristics for sound. He's always been an amazing B roll, general specs and opinion. I've been watching every video he puts out for years. Secondly, cables don't do f*** all. The only benefit to a cable is how flexible or ropey they are. I've had custom cables, stock cables, hell, even cryogenically treated cables with silver instead of copper, and they are all exactly the same.

Josh didnt swap to powerline cables for his review, if he did maybe your cable would be valid

Sorry, but this product makes no sense. There are materials with which they could try to cover the drivers that do not intrdoduce that much of reflections. Instead, you are getting a driver that will be exposed to dust and other micromaterials in the air everytime you listen. As much as a single hair can introduce distortion if it touches the planar. The longevity will be affected too die to all the debris collecting on the driver

Plastic is lighter - more expensive material is heavier

@thinkbeforeyoupost9766 so they should reduce the price due to "lighter/cheaper" materials, like the XS. He1000 unveiled looks premium, this one doesn t.

It IS really poor chinese stuff!! I have entirely plastic Stax that feel premium as hell, but I've demoed HiFiMans and they feel like toys.

@exact3 wow, you still living in 2015 eh? Currently own 3 HiFiMan headphones, the oldest being the Sundara is 8 years old and look mint despite being my daily driver for years. Have owned maybe 10 pairs in total and never had a single problem. 2 pairs of the HE400 series I sold to friends and family years ago are still going strong too.

just get LCDX if you want this kind of sound... it will be better quality-wise. "unveiled" is the most stupid thing I've ever seen in headphones. One wrong move and you're fucked.
