For the SSD, you could've screwed it on the grating of the HDD cage upside down using washer head screws. There's plenty of holes in there.

This might sound weird, but I get genuinely frustrated when the kitty is on camera right next to you and you're not petting it 😭😭😭

Question: Should RAM always be replaced per set? So 2 dimms that were produced together, or is that a sales pitch? Nice video ❤

I was just trying to get some similar 4GB sticks with the same speed rating, and trying to make sure they were both PC3L so the voltage was the same on both, thanks for watching :)

I usually match them best I can in pairs for each dimm pair but have mixed and matched ram without much detrimental impact to performance. So long as you match speed and capacity you should be fine.

Great video - I'm impressed by the layout of those machines. I always imagined they used laptop cpu's, but these can be upgraded, which is useful.

An interesting and very useful video!👍👍 I checked online and that computer can handle a maximum of 16 GB of DDR3 RAM..

I think you might be able to clear the password when you update the bios (it should reset intself). These computers actually received new BIOS updates until 2018 or 2019 so you should update them anyway, they made them support more ram (if the chipset allows it) and unofficial processors on those sockets too. As an example the Optiplex 3010 would only support 2nd gen i3s or 3rd gen i3 and i5s but now it can take any 2nd and 3rd gen processors and have 16 gb of ram (it was limited to 8 originally) because of the latest 2018 bios

I come for the computer revival projects, I stay for the cat! :D Nice work. Win 10 is still viable as there's an option to get extended security updates for a year after Oct 2025 EOL (I believe it's $30USD and the details will be posted closer to the EOL date). You may know that already. :)

You really need an overhead camera. Shame that Dell sold this with a single SODIMM in single channel mode. At least you can upgrade the memory. Remember, 80 Plus Gold is only an efficiency rating, not a quality rating. Good to see a replaceable, possibly up gradable, CPU. Always good to have a few 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch drive adapters around. Process count is too high, use the Chris Titus Tech Windows 10 Debloat Tool. Why didn't you use UEFI instead of legacy for installing the OS? Nice video, thanks.

Thanks for watching, re legacy/UEFI, I was probably rushing or trying to get a USB drive to work that didn't want to work.
