Just when i was wondering how the quick change works you bless me with this. The wealth of knowledge that you have is almost envious. I left this video smarter than before

This was great! You should make a transparent side so you can demonstrate how the diff oil works and how it causes the breather issue under higher crown speeds. Good slo-mo opportunity too.

The make a 4.86 ratio which was the most common quick change ring and pinion for decades. It had a 12” ring if I’m not mistaken. Then came the 4.33 then 4.12 then 4.11. In the 11 12 and 8” ring.

Thank you for putting your time and incredible knowledge into showing us mortals how a quick change works. I knew how a normal diff works. (Dad is retired car mechanic). Passed on his knowledge. It was the small gears and how there diff ratio changed the wheel speed and grip. Thanks for sharing 👍 . Good luck at your next drifter masters event.

Quick note: the term is Torsen LSD, which stands for "torque sensing"

So I’ve only been watching from the start of driftmasters and for a channel that’s here just to create content you guys are off to a great start and smart start nothing huge or over the top. Updates tech advice and info and product showcase. Great job eh

It would be cool if the moved the breather to the top. like the Winters.

AWESOME VIDEO, super informative. 1500 hp rated? I will need this for my road race car later. Are these available with standard style live axle tube rear end? I have an old ASA NASCAR chassis I am converting to road race use. Later after I get the car running and sorted I am going to drop in a little surprise for my competitors. Twin turbochargers and 1200 to 1400 HP. The QC in the car now is a standard winters live axle style used in NASCAR. I do wonder if you should chk the side/gear play after switching that gear over to the other side. Dimensions are supposed to be the same... but are they..really? Easy to check shaft rotation/gear mesh from the rear to confirm this but I'm betting you already know how to do that.

Why not use the diff brake for drifting as your handbrake?

And run 4 rotors?

Could you explain why rating is in HP? Is it US thing? In Europe we use torque to determine strength of gear things (diffs, transmissions). For example ZF (transmission manufacturer) rates their products by torque. HP tells nothing, low revving V12 with massive torque and high revving R6 with lower torque both can have 1500HP but forces are completely different. Another confusing thing is 1500HP+. What + means? More than 1500? Does it mean it can handle 1599HP or 5000HP?

Anyone got a link to a picture showing the internals of the gearbox talked about here? I can’t get my head round how 4th gear doesn’t use gears and can just use a dog ring if the input and output shafts aren’t inline. As he says in a sequential, even if its 1:1 it will still use gear with the same amount of teeth, I can understand that.

It is a Gforce GSR, and the input shaft and output share are inline with each other

@@FDFraceshop thanks for this. That makes more sense, havent seen one like that before
