Hi Stephan, and thank you for your interest. There are similarities to the Snider action, so perhaps. The Joslyn dose automatically extract upon opening, where the Snider is a separate movement. I suspect that the Snider is a stronger action. Regards....Doc

When I saw you wearing a glove on one hand, I thought it was a fashion statement like Michael Jackson. On seeing that 1862 contraption blow open, I understand it's purpose. Lucky for Asa there wasn't a personal injury lawyer under every slimy rock in 1862 like there is today. Your paper cartridges are always a work of art. I stick my end cap paper on the outside now, I find it easier and you can get away using fairly fragile paper. It doesn't look as good though. Good maps again, always like getting the lay of the land. The blue bird day was a nice ending. The western variety is one of my favorites out in the yard.

Hi gp, and I thank you again for the patronage. I really don't aspire to be Micheal Jackson, I am not a baby-dangler ! But I was getting down with my bad-self. That 1862 model had a very aggressive firing pin and when the primer ruptured it threw shards everywhere. I have my legal team searching for Asa as we speak. I put the end caps on the inside so if I put graphics on the paper tubes it provides an unobstructed canvas to do so, other than that I install them inside or outside. Yes, I love the old maps also. It helps me get my head around the fact that these were real people in real little towns making these objects that we hold and shoot today, If they only knew. A flight of Eastern Bluebirds came through to feed on the local fare and I tried to get some footage before they absconded. .....Doc

Hi Richard, and thank you. The Springfield version is quite a weapon so one would think more would have been produced. About 3,000 were made early in 1865 and they were purpose made and not conversions. This is before the first Allin conversions, so the Joslyns have the distinction of being the first breech loading cartridge gun fabricated in our nations armory. Regards....Doc

Hi Doc, Another great video! Liked the history about and behind these fine Joslyn carbine's and rifle. I have never had the priviledge to fire one. I liked the design on how the cartridge just slid down into the chamber, pretty slick! Looks like you were having fun! I always learn from your video's. Hope you are doing well. Hi Dave, I must say I'm proud to be the steward of that 1855 in particular. I can't imaging building one of those with that long tapered loading port, and it is nicely executed. Boggles my mind. Interesting video! I wondered how the various Joslyn models operated. It appears from the positive closing block that fouling wouldn’t be much of a problem with the 1855 model.

Здравствуйте, сэр! Крахмал добавляют в тканевые, тканевые и льняные картриджи, чтобы сделать их жесткими при обращении. Нитраты добавляются в бумажные патроны, чтобы они полностью сгорели в патроннике и не воспламенились при вставке следующего патрона. Врач
