I think in the manga Jotaro has a bio, and it says part of the reason why he doesn’t show much emotion is because he assumes that people instantly know how he’s feeling just by looking at him. He thinks he’s easy to read, so he doesn’t see a need to let others know how he feels, but that lead to a lot of misunderstandings and fights as a result.

Maybe someone has mentioned this already. But I'd like to point out that most Hamon Users, are actually technically Stand Users also. 'Hermit Purple' Is actually a Stand Visual on how the Energy is directed and conveyed. Reason why Dio is able to use Hermit Purple, is because he was using Jonathan's Hamon, aka Jonathan's 'Stand'. It is also seems to be the most standard power for Hamon Users, working as conductors. Holy's Stand resembles Joseph's, because Hamon is also essentially inherited. Therefore, a part of it resides within her. But with how Holy is, she never trained with Hamon nor Stands. This information can be found in a Light Novel i think. It is a bit more recent, which is why the information seems out of place at first!

I'm not sure about the canonicity of any of the light novels, but your on the nose about Joseph and Jonathan's stand basically being the Stand version of Hamon. There's an extra chapter in Part 7 where it's stated that abilities like Hamon and the Stone Mask can act as gateways to obtaining a Stand. And According to Araki, if Jotaro and the gang were travel back to Part 2, Joseph's Hermit Purple would've been visible. It probably would've appeared intangible like Holly's stand.

Light Novels being canon or not, we do find out later in Part 4 that Stands can be obtained as a natural manifestation of absolute mastery of a craft, with at least two Stand Users just naturally gaining Stands after they became masters of their profession/hobby. So in the case of Hamon users, mastery of Hamon seems to lead towards precognition and divination abilities, like Tonpetty being able to see Zepelli's future through Hamon, and Caesar and Lisa Lisa being able to use Hamon Hypnosis on the girl Caesar kissed when he met Joseph, and Suzie-Q after she was possessed. So mastery of Hamon seems to tend to lead towards developing a Stand similar to Hermit Purple

Happy Wednesday guys. Time for the usual fun facts of the week. What's that symbol on Jotaro's hat? The hand? That hand symbol is actually the logo for Araki's personal manga studio, and his company! The author has a reason for this logo design. In his notes he states "The international sign of a manga artist: the big callous on the finger." Essentially its a symbol for the hard work he and many other manga artists put into their art. Araki's company is called: Lucky Land Communications! In JoJo there are a lot of hidden Easter Eggs. So many that I can't exactly point out all of them in a single comment thread without it being a written essay. There are some more noticeable Easter Eggs though. I'm pretty sure you and Kelvin might notice it sometime sooner or later If you're feeling adventurous.. keep an eye out for the: LUCKY LAND! logo with the hand I'd like to give you some brief character profiles for our cast of Crusaders so far, but first let me elaborate on a strange detail. Dio. What is his stand? Hah, who knows? (yet). But wait, Dio used Josephs stand. That's a bit weird, right? The reason for this being shown is because it was a detail in the manga. There has been much discussion on what this means, but let me get somethings straight. A. NO this is not Dio's horrifying [S T A N D O P O W A H] that the show keeps building up.. B. People theorize that this is Johnathan's stand from being connected to the Joestar bloodline. C. The theory above has no absolute confirmation as far as we know. So don't read too much into it. D. Now to some more bite sized fun facts The stand user for [T O W E R O F G R A Y] is named: Gray Fly. This old man stand user's namesake is based on the musician: Glenn Frey. I former band member of the band: "The Eagles" -Gray Fly was not given a proper name to the public until many years after Part 3 was published! His name was revealed in the playstation port of: Heritage for the Future, an old JoJo fighting game classic. -This is something that may have been pointed out to you guys already! But I wanted to wait until Joseph's stand was given its name first. Joseph had in stand during the entirety of Part 2! Araki confirms this fact with a statement saying: "If Jotaro's group time-traveled to the world of Part 2, they would probably be able to see "Hermit Purple" wrapped around Joseph just like in Part 3." You can also see Joseph's stand in the opening for Part 2! It's a very sneaky detail but at the beginning you can see his stand behind him in front of the American flag residing in the background. -Jotaro is a very grouchy guy. But oddly enough.. Jotaro actually smiled in the manga. A lot! For the anime adaptation of Stardust Crusaders, David Productions really wanted to alter Jotaro's demeanor a lot. Some anime fans of JoJo complain that Jotaro is too cold emotionally, which is understandable. But most of them still do not know that Jotaro's behavior in the manga was fairly different in many scenes. Jotaro comes out of his shell and warms up a lot quicker in the manga. But in the anime, its going to take a little bit of time until we see Jotaro's warmness. However!! You DO get to see hints of Jotaro's personality start to take shape. His character development is a very subtle one, but its a very strong development (even in the manga) -Meet Kakyoin! He's a mysterious dude. We still do not know enough about him. Can we REALLY trust him though? In the first episode, that's the side on which Jotaro fires the gun towards his head. Due to how close the gun was, & the fact that they were in a closed space, Jotaro most likely deafened himself on his right side, which would make him unable to hear the stand to his right. This fact is something that's usually not noticed until a specific moment in part 4 (you'll know it when you see that part), but I thought I'd point it out now.

When you said Jotaro's Stand is overpowered, you're absolutely correct. Star Platinum is one of the most balanced Stands out there, and there's actually no one in the Joestar lineage that has Stand capable of defeating it with their stats alone. Also, you can see when Star Platinum was drawing the fly, Jotaro can't actually see through its eyes, but let it draw it instead.
