So funny you say that four walls. Think that terminology I have used too. Lol sometimes I refer to it as my dungeon or prison. A. K. A. My bedroom especially during covid times. When I isolated myself so I would not get it. Seems like it might have worked. Idk thought after reading medical articles. It seems some people are just more genetically fit to get covid as other people aren't. Luck of the draw I guess. Beyond that pocket hugs are cute. They also take on several other shapes as well besides hearts. Like angle shapes moons stars or I'm sure whatever other shape is possible to do. I have a clear oval shaped one with a little angle like statue on the inside. I have it for when my sister passed away in 2020. Basically they can take on anything that seems to settle ones mind or for anything we have lost or gained. Whatever you deem the pieces to be to you really. The mind is a incredible object and so is an imagination. ❤️

Best video I have found for beginners, but what I don't understand is, what is the difference between using epoxy mix, vs just resin? Please help
@JOTZdesigns2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! “Resin” is what people generally say nowadays when taking about epoxy resin art. There are tons of kinds of resin. Epoxy resin is a two part resin, and is just the one used more often for art purposes. Side note to that, there are epoxy resins with UV inhibitors (meaning it will take longer to yellow over time - ALL resins yellow), and there is UV resin which is a one part resin and only cures with UV light from the sun or a lamp. Many people assume they are the same thing, and they certainly are not. Thanks for watching!

I love your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your talent. ❤️ Wondering if you would know why my hearts stick to the sides and bottom of my silicone mold? I’m using one like yours. I mix the resin properly because I resin other items and pour any leftovers into the mold right away. But the bottoms and sometimes the sides stick to the molds and it’s ruining them! Any help appreciated!
@JOTZdesigns2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m happy to share! Usually when resin sticks to molds it’s because too much heat was used. Do you use a torch or heat gun to pop bubbles? What is your exact process?
@terigrubbs63442 жыл бұрын
@@JOTZdesigns I poured the resin the molds. Dropped some alcohol inks into the resin. Added a little white and stirred with toothpick-tried not to touch the bottom of the mold. Used torch to QUICKLY pop bubbles. 24 hours later, I tried take them out. 4 of them were stuck to the bottom of the mold and another 3 stuck to the sides. I have had great success with resining my painted tiles and canvasses. However, the silicone molds always give me this grief! Lol Could it be caused from hitting the bottom of the mold with toothpick? Do you torch to pop bubbles? Thank you so much for your help!
@JOTZdesigns2 жыл бұрын
Touching the mold with the toothpick would not cause this, but it could cause scratches that show on the cured resin. I’ve used a torch to pop bubbles, but I avoid touching the mold with the flame because that will most likely cause it to stick. Alcohol ink is very flammable, and I do not recommend using a torch or any heat after adding alcohol inks in a mold. It’s quite possible that since you used such a shallow mold, it caught on fire when your torched it (even inside where you could not see it), causing it to stick. Usually it’s too much heat that would cause resin to stick to silicone. It can even happen when you don’t even use any heat, but the resin flash cures. That can be cause by letting it sit too long in the mixing container, or even adding too much colorant - especially water-based colorant. I’d recommend not adding any heat after adding alcohol inks. Pour the clear, and get rid of bubbles with a heat gun - still being careful to not make it too hot. You can reduce bubbles by mixing slowly and with plastic or silicone sticks - wood creates bubbles. Using a thinner resin helps with bubbles too. Another thing to try is mold release. I’ve never actually used it, but I know many people who have and use it all the time. Here’s a link to Castin’ Craft’s version. I think you can get this at Hobby Lobby, too. amzn.to/3Po1uAO Hope this helps!

Hi Raquel here from Puerto Rico Thank you so much for this information I am going to try it i have a question I was doing a little heart earring and I use the pigment inks with UV let's resin why did it not cure inside what it look on top was like a thin lay of ink in the mode any why thank you for your prompt reply God Bless you and Merry Christmas to all your family
@JOTZdesigns Жыл бұрын
UV resin is another beast all together. The key is UV light. If you add anything opaque to it then you run the chance of the resin not curing because the UV light can’t get through to cure the resin. This can be anything from pigments, too much mica powder or glitters, and embellishments, etc. If you’re using a silicone mold, it needs to be the translucent kind (kind of a white-ish clear). Again, the UV light needs to penetrate to cure the resin. Check out my UV resin videos for some tips and to see some things I’ve used and how. Hope that helps! kzbin.info/aero/PLx7Pf5A8e8pyF4XBbTtozJoMzyzK8rfmU&si=gUU5xK2hPf7mJK4s

Hi loved your video, thank you very much. I have not started working with resign yet but my question is, if I wanted to give one of these hearts to my family member could I put a another layer of resin on the back and then sit my photo in it please? My thoughts are then they would have the heart that I have personally made for them and my photo on the other side close to their heart. Thank you very much I look forward to your feedback
@JOTZdesigns4 ай бұрын
Yes! I'd recommend using epoxy resin then, instead of the UV resin I showed in the video (it wouldn't cure under the photo). I would start by adding a little resin smeared on the back side of the photo paper and the back of the heart - just enough resin that each surface is very thinly coated. Then starting from one edge of the photo, lay it down slowly towards the other edge to prevent bubbles. Gently press the photo down to remove any bubbles that may have still gotten trapped (watch the edges so excess resin doesn't come spilling out!). Then pour a little resin on top to cover the photo. And you're done! Another option is use epoxy resin as I have above, and after pressing your photo down let it cure. Then you can top coat the image with UV resin and dome it a bit, if you'd like. Another option is to glue the photo onto the heart using some glue - making sure the back of the image is lightly coated, but not so much that it'll all ooze out the edges when you apply it - again starting at one edge to lay it down. Wipe off any excess glue right away, and let dry. Then you can use either epoxy resin or UV resin to top coat it. Hope that helps! 🧡☺️ Thank you for watching!

I wish I could do this effect. Doesnt matter how I use the pinata inks and blanco, a film and clumps end up on the surface. Whether its the inks creating a film or the white binding everything up I've not figured it out - I've tried stirring straight away, leaving it to thicken, only using 1 drop of colour etc. Its almost like the film or clumping happens instantly. Using normal Let's resin thin/medium visc resin in a warm water bath before mixing too. You can see it starting to happen in the middle heart expect it happens to every one I do.
@JOTZdesigns Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching! I get the same film/clumps when I do this. It's harder to tell in the videos because I have it sped up, but it's totally normal. You want to make sure that you leave it there after you swirl with a toothpick, otherwise you'll take out most of the color. I'd also recommend not using a warm water bath, at least not for these. I've never had success with warming the resin, it might be my high altitude or lack of humidity, I don't know, but I do know that every time I have tried it my project is ruined in some way. I haven't tried the Let's Resin resin with these yet, but I don't think it would make a huge difference. I mention the clumping in this video starting about 3:40. Also see it in this video at 3:15 kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5WyaJSFq61of8k Also see it in this video 2:40 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHm4oIJvYrWdpbs

@@JOTZdesigns Hi, thanks very much for the reply. I'll try without the water bath and see how that affects things. My clumping is exactly like the bottom blue one you linked in the 2nd video link above - its almost like an instant reaction when the white drops on the ink. Thanks again for the inspiration in the vids!
@JOTZdesigns Жыл бұрын
The bottom right one? The one I take out at about 4:02? Definitely had some clumping on that one, and the one above it (and taken out just before it). They still worked though. Alcohol and resin resist each other (same with silicone oil), and that's what causes the effects you get, and the clumping. Definitely normal! Good luck!

These are beautiful! Thank you for the sharing your technique! Is the small nail brush just from leftover gel clear coat? That seems so much easier than using a toothpick!
@JOTZdesigns6 ай бұрын
Thank you! Happy to share! The brush is from an empty bottle I got from Amazon that I added the UV resin to. I have links listed in the video description for the products I used. You could use any old gel bottle, so long as it's black and throughly cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. I wouldn't recommend adding the UV resin to other types of UV resin in the bottle, including gel polish. ☺️🧡 Thanks for watching!

Nice, but what did you mean don't let them be opaque or they wont cure.. the back side or??? pls explain?
@JOTZdesigns23 күн бұрын
I said that about the UV resin. It needs UV light to cure and if you add too much colorant/glitter/mica/etc. and make it opaque it will not be able to cure properly. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Brilliant video! Thanks for sharing. I just started making pocket hugs with bears but i do have that same heart mold. Can I ask why you put UV resin on the backs of the hearts?
@JOTZdesigns Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The main reason of putting the UV resin on the back is to seal in the inks and fill in the shallow cavity that may have been created once the resin cured. I more often than not use UV resin because it’s virtually instant, but you can also use Epoxy resin, especially if you want an opaque color - or you could paint the back and use UV resin still. Thanks for watching! ☺️🧡

Hi i just love this video can i use epoxy pigment ink by Let's Resin that is resin brand i am using i am a beginner and would like to learn more specially how to measure the correct amount of resin most came out sticky and i don't know how to fix it thank you for this video
@JOTZdesigns Жыл бұрын
I used alcohol inks in these. Alcohol inks and pigment inks are different. Completely different result. It’s especially due to the white Pinata Blanco Blanco that creates this effect. Let’s Resin does have a sinker white that should work similarly, but I have not tried that one yet. As for mixing, you need to follow the resin’s directions. Let’s resin has several resins. If it’s 1:1 by volume then you measure 1 part A into 1 part B in a measuring cup (ie. 2oz of each) If it’s 2:1 by volume then you mix 2 parts A into 1 part B in a measuring cup (ie. 2oz A and 1oz B) If it’s by weight then you do the same as above except you go by what the scale says, not the cup. Check out this video on mixing. It’s for 2:1, but once you’ve got both parts in the cup it’s mixed the same. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6eleGpnrLCZba8si=-aGagNzcGkfq9v4k Hope that helps! The hot glue doesn't stick to the back of the heart when someone peels it off?
@JOTZdesigns7 ай бұрын
The glue peels off the heart as well. Because of the heat, if you haven’t let the resin cure for 30 days you might get an indent/mark, but that can be removed with a heat gun. If you don’t want to use hot glue you can use removable adhesive dots like these (linked below), but they’re not very strong and the hearts can easily fall off the card. @JOTZdesigns5 ай бұрын
To achieve this technique, and the similar flower method, you do want to add the white (alcohol ink or paste) to resin before adding it for sure. If you want the petri effect, that's when you drop the white alcohol ink onto your piece after dropping colored alcohol ink. I'm glad you found this video useful! 🧡😊 Thanks for watching!

The way I use it in this video, the back is up and comes out flat, so the curved side of the mold touching the surface is the front. When I pull them out of the mold and flip them over you see the front. You can choose which side you want as the front/back, but if you choose to have the side touching the surface as the back then your back will be the curved shape and your front will be flat. Hope that helps! 🧡🙂 Thanks for watching!

Is It possible put in a photo? Kind of paper?

Of course! I'd recommend glossy or metallic paper, but always do a test first as all papers are not alike. Thanks for watching! 🙂🧡

Lovely but the video was a bit fast for me. I missed why you had to paint them again with resin after they partially cured.
@JOTZdesigns7 ай бұрын
I’m not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean the UV resin I used to seal the backs? That’s the only time I added additional resin, but the pieces were cured when I did that. I mention I’m using the UV resin to seal the backs at 5:20. If videos are too fast for you, you can slow the speed down by click on the gear icon when you tap the video and change playback settings. You can also turn on the CC (closed captions) if what is said is too fast or an hard to understand. Hope that helps! 😊🧡 Thanks for watching!

Nothing. They are for lazy jewelry designers who are too lazy to actually make them into a proper pendant. So sad.
@JOTZdesigns6 ай бұрын
@pepethepatriot7524 Not everything needs to be jewelry. Creating things with resin isn't limited to one purpose; people can make whatever they want. It's unfair to label them as lazy just because their work doesn't align with your expectations.
