I’ve bought cheapo tools and had to replace them so many times over the decades I realized that a good tool would last forever basically plus it does the job better. Also the amount I’ve spent would probably been less if I just got the good tool from the start. Final also: if you DIY all the time it will eventually be cheaper than using a bike shop for assembly and service. My advice is like Jordain’s, buy top quality tools you won’t regret it.

I was really surprised how practical this list was. Thanks for the video. I avoid doing this much stuff, but I learn quite a few things.

Just started routing the cockpit of my Airwolf gravelbike, so the cable routing trick might come in handy!

5:53 This should be clarified. Usually the torque specifications are given for dry threads, not greased. Lubing the threads and then applying the specified torque can result in bolt/thread tension/BB compression up to twice of what would result with dry threads. Frame o BB manufacturer should specify if threads should be lubed or not.

Torque wrench: hold it at the handle, operate smoothly and stop at the first click. With each additional click you apply more torque to the bolt despite not changing the setting. Thanks for the tips, Jourdain.
@sabamacx

This is untrue. ✓ operate at denoted hand position; X additional ticks will apply more torque, untrue.

@@sabamacx Don't believe me, believe the manufacturer's manual. Also, you can see the bolt move with every additional click.

@@DnDMF I have a PhD in materials engineering. There are plenty of click-torque wrench videos on youtube against strain gages and load cells confirming what I've said above. A good recent overview is to search "torque wrench john cadogan", also a fellow engineer.

@@DnDMF obviously hold a torque wrench at the correct point along it's length and never deviate from that, but you're 'advice' to not go more then one 'click' is BS. torqued correctly the first time, a second or third torquing carefully repeated exactly the same way as the first almost never increases bolt torque. see, now you're even smarter than you were before.

@@seanmccuen6970 It is not my advice. It is the manufacturer's operation manual. They built the tool and they obviously know less than you.

NIce tips! Thank you. But the first tip is biggest problem for me, as I'm in between sizes (M and L) 😅 and I'm still struggling with decision

Many people have the same issue. I done a whole video on choosing frame size here, it could help you - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5LLmXugYpJ7kM0

If you're between sizes, then the bike doesn't fit you. (But if you insist, downsize, you can make a smaller bike fit larger, but not really a bigger bike fit small)

You forgot one, if you can't get the headset spacers to fit don't cut the steerer short and slam the stem.
