This is a fascinating analysis, and I learned something new about glutamate!! As someone who has postpartum bipolar and has done a vegan ketogenic diet for two years, I’m so happy that you chose this topic.

I am also thrilled by this paper because it explains the switching between the two completely diametral energy states, the cycling nature of the process, why this switch often happens quite suddenly and why it happens in connection with psychological or physical stress.

I think the well-formulated vegan ketogenic diet I’ve been practicing complements the lithium and the MAOI tranylcypromine I’ve been taking since 2013. I was interviewed about my experience by Dr. Iain Campbell and Matt Baszucki on episode #23 of the Keto Bipolar (formerly Bipolarcast) podcast on KZbin.

When young children are traumatized they breathe in a lot. Developing lungs don’t develop right. You smell in the lungs - pheromones - oxygen. Schizos yelling is their cells releasing off gases. I think their metabolism all does a purge. It evolved in the winters when hunting was the only option. All plants dead. Had to hunt in the cold. Had to have the energy to hunt. I think the mitochondria all surge at once. Maybe neurotypicals do little by little energy production. It’s something to do with the lungs. Aspiration. It’s like too much oxygen in the blood and it makes it hypermetabolize
