ohhh... I love this!! I hope you keep on making journals... I need to go back and make some soon. I used to love to make a book!! My only piece of advice is get yourself to a Blicks art supply or something and get an Awl. It makes a world of difference, makes you feel official and isn't really expensive!! Hope things go well in your journal!! Thank you for sharing!!
@JamiePate Жыл бұрын
And we know how much I need to feel official!!! haha!!! And yes to making books. I do love making books. You should get back to it. Do you use the book spacers for crafting your journals. I think I need those too.

This is great! It's hard to believe it's your 1st attempt. Really lovely. I've been making my own books for a while now ( an ex-library employee here), and I have to say, your work is better than my 1st few attempts. Although there is alot of work that goes into book binding, it really does make a wonderful completely homemade scrapbook!!
@JamiePate Жыл бұрын
I completely agree. About the complete scrapbook. Sort of why one enjoys hovering around the book makers. It's a beautiful art. What is your favorite resource for book making?
@ellenrodriguez9517 Жыл бұрын
I can't say I have a favorite. I've used many mediums from store bought to leftover cardboad and cereal boxes. Pretty much anything I have on hand. I want to try working with leather, but Im feeling intimidated. I've recently made a couple of hardcover recipe books using basic scrapbook supplies.

You go girl!! Such a great idea and intention. That’s what’s important, mistakes and all.😏. I love the idea of why you created this book. I, too, am venturing on an art journal intention in October with some techniques I want to play with and see where it goes. Unlike you, I just bought a small book for this project! Maybe I’ll cover it with the beautiful Plum papers and an ephemera cluster🙂. (I’m still struggling w/those clusters!! I’ll just keep practicing, as you said!) Thanks so much for sharing these book binding techniques and trials! Happy weekend!!❤️.
@JamiePate Жыл бұрын
Keep going! Don't quit. Maybe those techniques can be some of your October focus. And enjoy finding your style in it all. Copy copy away. But you will be found in your making. Then you won't be able to stop. Thank you for sharing. Thanks for watching!!!

Jamie, not sure if you know there are dies by a certain designer for Sizzix offering different journal sizes. I wasn’t sure if I could mention her name here or if it would be appropriate. Even though I’m new to making my own journals, I recently purchased two of the dies and they are awesome. Of course, making your own is fun as well but having dimensions and holes cut out with the die was a whole heck of a lot easier. Just throwing it out there for you if interested! Your journal turned out beautiful, and it’s great to know we are not alone and to be patient while working through mistakes.

The ones from Eileen H? Are there some that are tall enough for a 6x8 book?
@colette4hm Жыл бұрын
A great journal and fun to watch mistakes and all! The mistakes and how you regrouped were very encouraging to me to keep on pushing through and adjust what you thought you were going to do! Kind of like...turn a drip into a dot!" I was wondering about how many pages were in each signature and how you decided on that?
@JamiePate Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! The struggle was a little real, but I am loving this book so very much!!! The signatures have 2 white cardstock sheets and then 3 of the grid dot sheets. Which then translates to about 10 pages once folded. This is not a daily journal. But rather to hold the intentions and check off charts for certain of the goals. The card stock will probably be to hold art journal type pages. The dot grid to hold journaling and charts and the different categories I am intending to pursue these next few months. Hope that helped. Let me know. Thank you for your comment.
@trinabarnes9160 Жыл бұрын
It did help thank you. The decision on how many pages to add to any book leaves me nuts! Maybe it is too personal but I would love to hear your intentions for this journal. I just love it! @@JamiePate
@JamiePate Жыл бұрын
@@trinabarnes9160 I may need to blog this. It's a little heady. But I am basically taking a couple of categories: relational, experiential, intellectual, spiritual, and there is always one more I always forget...LOL...and outlining some specific things I want to work on in those areas. So, that is the Cliff notes version. I may need to do an article. Also, have you heard of Last 90 Days Challenge? I am incorporating that as well.
