If he chooses to watch the anime, I hope he watches from the beginning and not try to continue where the live action left. The anime has so much more and has a different vibe to it, so starting from like episode 40-50 would ruin it. Glad how they did the live action though. Perfect adaptation.

Since you're an OST fan, there is a song that the directors slid in there to appease fans of the anime. It plays when Shanks is stitching up Luffy's stab wound in the flashback. I don't want you to spoil yourself if you plan to watch the anime, but it was such a nice touch to hear that shanty and there is a good English version without spoilers. But it was really nice to hear those subtle touches even to just the OST.

I was not expecting this my man!! The story in the live action is somewhat different to the anime as in the progression is changed but its still a good introduction to one piece. I wouldve recommended you to watch the anime upto where the live action is and watch it. Since it ruins the naime experience

I'm new to One Piece, & this show convinced me to watch the anime. I'm appreciating the anime more now than I would've if I hadn't watched the LA bc the anime is very cartoony & over-the-top, which I'm not against, but I'm less motivated to watch something if I think it won't take itself seriously or incorporate nuanced story-telling. Now that I know where it's heading, I'm actually looking forward to each anime episode & enjoying the extra stuff that the LA left out.

Live action wasn't supposed to be 1-1 anyway. After all, OPLA is made for new audiences, to show them the world of one piece. OPLA nailed the main core of the story, and the spirit of One piece. There's many changes and Oda himself reviewed and confirmed. Maybe because he also wants to improve and enhance some certain scenes, informations, and stories that he couldn't do anymore but instead, he does it in this. And there's nothing wrong about that. I re-watched OPLA for the 4th time, but this time together with my aunt and step sister (my step sister knows a little bit about one piece, but she just knows it's about pirates, and she knows some names, but not whole personality of the character. My aunt is the same but she just knows Luffy (which she calls “Laffy”😭)) My aunt loves the OPLA, and actually wants more. I told her that the season 2 is coming but they're still preparing it. This OPLA did so great and attracted many new audiences which is Oda and the whole team's goal. It's just saddening that most fans nitpicking every single details when they were already informed about the changes. They're even complaining more about tits, and literally the most ridiculous things, but never appreciate the hard work and acting skills of the actors. As if nami's tits is more important than the way Emily portray her. As if nami is nami because of her boobs when it's not. (it's getting annoying tbh). And they say iñaki's portrayal as luffy is too serious when iñaki as luffy is literally smiling and being goofy all the time (not when his friends and innocent people is hurt). Anyway, I hope we won't get only season 2 but more.
