Thank you for saying that, I am a HUGE Steve Perry fan but I think since Arnel joined he did a fantastic job, not easy to fill the shoes of Perry. And he never pretended. He is humble comes from poverty (My wire is Filipina and I appreciate what Arnel went through) and for all the "haters" out there, go up there and sing better.

Love this kid! Listen, nobody will ever be Steve Perry, but Arnel did what Steve couldn't do, tour night after night year after year. So shut the f up if he backs out of a high note or alters it. Incredibly hard vocals night after night and he kills it! God bless you Arnel!!!

Exactly. We should cut Arnel some slack because he's been asked to deliver night after night for 17 years now, which he has! And he's not a prima donna like Kelly Hansen of Foreigner (if they should even still be called Foreigner at this point). Arnel has said himself that he would step aside if Steve Perry ever wanted to come back, as that is his "rightful" place. So what does Hansen do when Lou Gramm asks to sing "Juke Box Hero" and "I Want to Know What Love Is" on the upcoming 2025 reunion tour? Hansen tells Lou "no". Who does Kelly Hansen think he is? Is Hansen's voice on the original recordings? No!

17 long years straight with Journey! 😮.I know why because of Arnel's wide range.stage performance, he is not boring because he did different style(arrangement, version) of their songs.That Don't Stop Believing in Philippines concert that was his ideas, the most applauded Faithfully in his 1st Vegas concert that was his own version,Wildest Dream and Separate Ways even Wheel in the Sky with his amazing performance.l remember his bandmates said they become better because of Arnel.Sir Dean Castronovo was right when he said everytime they did the concert it's like the 1st he time he wached Arnel.For 17 years l did'nt see Arnel repeat that 1st Vegas concert.Actually the very 1st time l saw Arnel did like that in 1st vegas concert when he was 20 years old he sung all Journey songs in Hongkong in person .He did an amazing performance and gave me sleepless night. He replayed that concert when he was 40 with Journey. When Arnel joined Journey, l bought their CD and 3DVD concerts of Steve Perry.l watched the 3 concerts and it's like wasted my money buying 3 tapes(the same songs the same performance just walking and clapping hands so boring.

Years have passed, and the controversies between Steve and the painful "departure" of Journey will continue. In my opinion, I believe that no one in his prime could have the gasoline that Arnel has shown in all these years, not even Perry himself would have been able to withstand that rhythm, here no one is better or worse, each of the two, Steve and Arnel, have done their part to keep Journey current. What Arnel shows over time is unique and incredible.

Journey's songs are hard to sing, especially in live concerts, and I think that's one of the reasons why the band's early lead vocalists didn't last long. In recent years, Journey has had concerts almost every night, which can damage a singer's voice, especially without rest. I think that's why no lead vocalist of Journey has lasted long except for Arnel Pineda, and as we can see, his voice is changing, but he is still thriving compared to the band's previous vocalists. I think half of his career in the band journey as a lead vocalist is enough to prove that Arnel Pineda is one of the best singers in the world. (Former Journey's lead vocalists are still legends, especially Steve Perry)

I always have mixed emotions because I do like Arnell as a person and respect him as a singer. But Steve Perry has been my very favorite singer since I heard of them live back in 79. We snuck backstage and watched Steve Perry warm up with a bass guitar and a cup of tea. I was like 16 I’m 61 now so I’m kinda stuck with the Steve Perry era of Journey. Just hard for me I wish I was a little more light hearted about it. But like I said, Steve Perry is my man being a musician myself and a singer for 3/4 of my life music has been a deep part of my soul and it drives me crazy when people say that he sounds just like Steve Perry. No, he doesn’t. There’s a resemblance and that’s it but I think Arne is a great kid very humble and very sweet. And from his backstory, I’m happy for him to be able to live his dream so I’m happy for that. You can’t meet a sweeter guy. And he does have a great voice 17 years trying to sing journey songs would be very hard, especially being compared to Steve Perry all the time I wouldn’t wanna do he has bigger balls than I have happy new year.

Very balanced take and best one among the pro-Steve comments. Though obviously it’d be great to still have Steve still singing, I’m glad they have AP singing the songs. I was only a kid in the 70s and didn’t have a lot of money, so I never got to see them in their heyday. Perry isn’t singing with them and hasn’t been. That’s just a reality. Those who insist on having the original singers, that’s their prerogative. But having AP sing the songs, I can appreciate their sound and being able to hear the legends Neal and Jonathan, even if Steve isn’t singing. As others have said, Journey’s songs are hard, and I appreciate AP’s ability. Lead or leading singers drop from the band all the time. Earth, Wind, and Fire has never sounded the same since Maurice passed, though Verdine, Phillip, and George still carry on with others. Chicago picked up that base player who sounded like Peter - it was good to hear him sing some of those songs. Styx went through an acrimonious parting with DeYoung, Glen Frey passed. I don’t really hear the same kind of negativity when those bands moved on. People are free to have their biases, but things change with bands. I’m glad these guys are still touring and am glad they have AP, because not many can sing like this. Aguirre was okay, but this sound is better imo.

Singing Journey’s songs for 17 years is not a joke. Who does that? How did Arnel Pineda even last this long? Sure, his first 10 years were the best, then the succeeding years there after upto this day were just too much for him. The band members should have protected Arnel’s voice by not making him sing night after night every week. They should have slowed down by adjusting their concert performances less frequently maybe one two night show for each month for longevity of his voice. Even Steve Perry did not last 10 years because his voice was over used too.

I’ve been to 5 Journey concerts starting in the early 80’s. Sadly Arnel sounds sick here…on the lower registers. Higher tenor tones are clean. Hopefully Journey can keep it fresh
