His story was a polite way of saying "I was a trouble maker aand nobody could tell me nothing ". For example, his wife was well aware he was not a Catholic, didn't she tell him he should not be receiving communion?.. and the whole marriage thing... Anyway, he got to learn the truth and join the communion the right way, and do the propermarriage , problem solved!

alot of these journey home men are established.. how can i mentor to men if i can't even put food on the table? get proper vet visits for my cats ?

@ZombieHouseFresnoCA, my mother always said, "you have to listen". I always took that to mean "be open to what God is saying and asking of you". Robert's story exemplifies this idea. I do get the difficulty in affordability of asking someone for coffee, I think that is an idea that seems easy enough for someone who is "established". Perhaps ask someone to join you for a game of checkers in the church felllowship hall or something even less formal, feedign the ducks at the pond? The point is, and I think Robert makes it, just do something that starts a conversation. You never know what gifts someone else may share with you. Don't go into this with the idea that there is some sort of reward but be open to the idea. Robert said, "you don't need to be a genius..." he is correct. I love the parable of the talents, we are all given gifts, it is up to us to share them. Don't make the mistake of protecting these talents. My wife will often say something like, "I just want you to look at this." I have had to teach myself to just look at it and not comment, invariably, she asks for my opinion but that time has caused me to reallly think about what is being said, you have to listen.
