@shelley... Here's my response to another comment that I am sharing with you... You bet the Catholic Church has the answers you seek after 2,000yrs of prayer, contemplation, meditation, debates and addressing heretics not to mention the ever present "progressives" within the clergy who want to throw out tradition and doctrinal certainty. By contrast what Luther created and which has ballooned over a mere 500 yrs is sheer doctrinal confusion and chaos arising from the dismantling of the truth of Christ as long as it is "inspired by the Holy Spirit.". Protestantism has loads more questions than answers, against Mother Church and within and between the different denominations. Thus, you get perpetual chaos. At 71, go talk to a Catholic priest. Run! Before it is too late.

As a son, grandson, nephew and cousin of sincere and faithful Baptist Pastors, I joined the Catholic Church at the age of 59, along with my wife. My youngest son is preparing to join the Catholic Church next Easter, God willing. It all started with my reading of the Church Fathers. Understanding the Eucharist was my first base. All this was a big surprise to me. I used to be a staunch anti-catholic and I became a staunch Catholic. I was a Baptist, now I go to Mass in a Parish called Saint John the Baptist.

Wonderful testimony… I, too, was in Protestant ministry, and converted to Catholicism. A couple of things you said really rang true with me; firstly, everybody being an authority unto themselves… This is so true, and I would even go so far is to argue that it is the spirit of the antichrist in that People claiming to be Christians are subordinating Christ to what they want Christ to mean or be Also, no longer being in protest… What I first converted my protestant friends would ask me why I became Catholic and I would tell them that I no longer was in protest. They would look at me with glazed over eyes of misunderstanding… After a little conversation, I have come to understand that most protestants do not know that the root word for protestant is, indeed, protest. When Christ was talking to the Samaritan woman, he said that Samaritans did not know who they worship… I fear the same is true for most protestants. Thank you for having the guts to come to the Catholic Church.

Your comment reminded me of Trump's religious advisor, wife of Journey's guitarist (don't remember her name), when, furious at a Trump event, she started shouting that the ground she was walking on was sacred because she had touched it... this made me think 2 things: 1 ) that many Protestant ministers tend to shout a lot (a characteristic of fanatics is that they shout at the masses, like the Austrian gentleman with the mustache) 2) how some Protestant denominations have distorted Christianity to such a point that they really believe that they are the ones who sanctify the things by just touching them, instead of god, literally them believing themselves to be gods. That's creepy.

That’s me, too. Born Catholic, a decision that was made for me by my maternal grandmother as her family was growing in WWII Germany. She married a Lutheran, they agreed that their daughters would be Catholic, any son a Lutheran. I was baptized, did reconciliation and first communion. Never lost sight of God and His Son. I even volunteered my time during St. Pope John Paul II’s visit to Monterey County, California-he is truly a saint, I could see and feel it. But I was angry at the Church for 20-plus years due to the failure of a priest to come to the hospital where I worked as an RN, at the request of a young couple one Christmas Eve, whose baby girl died in utero, the family wished her baptized. The priest refused to come, saying “I’m preparing for midnight mass,” and that was that. I was angry at the wrong entity. I explored Krishna Consciousness, the Lutheran church, and even LDS. Mother Mary was nothing more than the mother of Jesus. The saints were regular people, no one more special than me. “There’s no one in Heaven running interference between your prayers and God.” I had a hard time with that. Just before COVID hit, I returned to the Catholic Church, just to sing in the choir. I was confirmed in 2023, losing my beloved catechism teacher, Ruben, a month before my ceremony. He was grooming me to become a catechism teacher, which I have done with humility and my love for the Holy Trinity. The two priests in my parish are good men that I consider among best friends. Praying the rosary gives me much comfort.

Yes, you are quite correct in saying that. Everywhere protestants misuderstand Catholic teachings. They usually accuse us based on false interpretations of Scripture and also on lies spread by protestant denominations. This shows ignorance of Scripture and ignorance of what we, Catholics really believe and do. However, it seems that worldwide honest protestants who study deeply the Early Church and the Fathers of the Church are becoming Catholic. It is happening here in my country, Brazil, in the US and all around the world.

I was raised Missouri Lutheran and converted to Catholicism many years ago. The comment Daniel Tews made that was most striking to me was when he said that the Lutheran catechism didn't really teach what it meant to be Lutheran but rather what was wrong with Catholicism. That is exactly true. The most annoying thing about this is that their arguments aren't even accurate. They parrot things they've been told that are absolutely false! There are 3 books that are eye-opening regarding the Catholic faith. 1. Ugly As Sin by Michael S. Rose. He discusses how our churches, since the 1960s, have been secularized to the point where they are no longer Houses of G_d but sterile assembly halls and entertainment centers. A true Catholic church teaches the Sacraments through its art and architecture. It evangelizes. We need to return to that. 2. How Catholic Art Saved The Faith: The Triumph of Beauty and Truth in Counter-Reformation Art by Elizabeth Lev, an art historian at the Vatican. She discusses how Luther destroyed the faith for many Catholics and how the Church employed the most well-known artists of that time to depict the Sacraments and re-establish the teachings of the Church. 3. The Limits of Papal Authority Over The Liturgy by Fr. Chad Ripperger. This book reads like a law book on papal authority and discusses every minute detail of the Mass and the reasoning behind why Catholics do what they do. Papal authority is NOT what Protestants claim! I am SO happy I became Catholic! I continue to learn about all the beauty and deep meaning of Catholicism as taught by our Church Fathers and instituted by Christ. I pray that others will discover this path.

As a former Baptist, now Catholic, I couldn't agree more with the very relevant points you make. Art has been an important part of Christian churches, solemn celebrations, witness, devotion and liturgy since the beginning. It conveys the Christian gospel message along with a sense of awe and veneration for all the characters of salvation history. Protestant and evangelical churches trivialized the Christian experience and destroyed the original idea of the church as a single body with one spirit, one Lord, one baptism, one soul, one mouth and one teaching. They despised the Mother of God incarnate and abandoned the Eucharist because they do not believe that, after the prayer of consecration, it feeds the Church with the body and blood of Jesus Christ. It is sad to see all the division.

Luther wasn't as bad, he was pointing at genuine corruption that was happening at that time, he just pushed the bounds of reform too far and his movement led to a great unfortunate shattering of Christendom and from there, his moral failures just became greater and greater however even from all of that, I don't think Luther, if no one developed his theology further, wouldn't have done as much lasting damage to the church as we have seen today. . Calvin is the real mind of the lasting protestant movement and for that, I dislike Calvin more

Many of those who left the RCC, have not done because of theological reasons, but rather because of the wanton abuses perpetrated by clergy over the many decades, and the cover ups that ensued…… sad to say!
@jimklein6958 Жыл бұрын
I’m sure that is true to a small degree but many many more have left long before the abuse was in the media. Far more leave because they don’t know their faith and it is much easier to be a Protestant. Catholics NEED to realize that the Church teaches that if you leave the church knowing that it is the One True Apostolic Church that Christ started, then that is the same as denying CHRIST and if one denies CHRIST then without asking for forgiveness and returning to the church then one can’t be saved. There is no reason to justify leaving the One True Faith. Satan delights every time a Catholic turns their back on the church because Satan has gotten that person to deny Christ. Peter denied CHRIST three times as did Judas but thankfully Peter did not despair and asked for forgiveness. Judas despaired and didn’t ask forgiveness and the church teaches he went to hell.

God bless you. I was raised Catholic, left as a teen for a 'Bible believing church'. Went to a very fine Bible college. It was my last year of school, that I realized the Truth I left behind. I think the turning event was the realization about salvation. We were told you must accept Jesus as your personal Savior to be saved, its great, and every Christian must have a Personal relationship with Christ, but that's not what the Bible says about salvation. Acts 2 says, Repent and be baptized, so that your sins may be forgiven.. today I'm back in the ancient Faith

My mom was Buddhist and she found Catholic when she was 17 and I was so lucky that I’m grown up in a Catholic family even our family not perfect but God fixing our steps each time we did anything wrong and we feel God is with us every day. Back home we were so poor, people go church every day to pray, to worship God sincerely sincerely you cannot imagine. I feel sorry for the rich country like Canada state, fading out the faith to God so much, and it’s been along time God has been very sad. He has is waiting for His children to come back in one church what he made up over 2000 years ago, the original one, not the one man-made. Amen 🙏

Beautiful conversion story! Thank you for sharing. And Welcome Home! May God bless you and your family, always. I hope you have access to a really good Catholic Bible study group led by a priest who is VERY well versed in theology. I live in a very small rural community; our priest is from Nigeria and he is so strong in his theology. Our Bible study group and our entire Parish and community is so blessed to have him as a teacher, priest, and shepherd. The Pope, cardinals, bishops, priests, deacons all need our prayers right now so they will be open to receiving God’s will and carrying out God’s will in His Church, dying to their personal wills and living in God’s will alone! Bless them all!

I was born and raised Catholic missed my confirmation and took RCIA before I got married. My mother in law was a Eucharistic minister and a lector. I have always felt God pulling me back home when I walked away or couldn’t go to church. We moved to Florida in 1999. And went to a Catholic Church here and it just wasn’t the same. So we went to a baptist church and was baptized again. Left there after a few years to a non denomination church and served in a few different positions. But I keep feeling God calling me back to Catholicism. The Piety and reverence and seeing the chosen. Wanting to find the true church and I come to this. I have been saying the rosary every day for quite a while. I helped my mother in law as she passed from this life to the next. Her 94 year old boyfriend took care of her as long as he could and I went up to Pa. To take care of her until she passed. He would come and start the rosary she liked on KZbin and they would watch daily mass. Ever since then I have been praying and studying the Bible almost all the time. I start my Day with Jesus and Mary. And end my day with them. After work I spend time in His word. I think this is a sign. I have recently been following and watching Gabbi. Thank you for doing the work. And sharing.

Daniel, I loved your whole message. It really resonated with me! My LCMS church left me and became a 'community church' with the label Lutheran still attached to it. Your comment about chaos in the church happened to my large Lutheran congregation in Indiana. A new pastor came in with very different ideas from what a Christian Lutheran church should be and proceeded to tear it down and build it up in his image. The chaos that it caused was immense. I stayed and sung in the choir for many years, but eventually the chaos finally found its way into the choir. Fortunately, I went to a choir workshop at the local Roman Catholic Church in town, where we were invited to sing as part of the Saturday evening Mass. I loved it! A few months later, the choir director invited me to go to Rome with the choir for the closing of the Year of Mercy in November, 2016. Prior to going to Rome, I started to sing with the choir at Mass. In 2017 I started RCIA and became a Catholic in 2018. My wife had been raised Catholic and she recommitted to the Catholic church, and we are very happy to call ourselves Roman Catholics now!

I was also Lutheran leaning very long. Born Catholic, believed in the real presence, but I refused to go to confession (original also a part of Lutheranism, but with no obligation to make us of it) and thus wouldn't receive the Eucharist for a decade after my first communion, because somewhere I knew I deep inside I shouldn't do it without confession. Eventually I was at a point, where yI didn't felt good eith my life and a very charismatic Catholic persuade me to go to confession. What happened was that I cried during my confession and that my Tinnitus, I had for a very long time, disappeared completely for almost and hour, while I felt really "light". My problem from then on was that I didn't believed in Mary or that I should pray the rosary. It wasn't until I witnessed something special in Mali Lošinj, a island in Croatia that is infamous for having Marian apparitions. So I attended one of those apparitions and smelled the smell of roses, while physically feeling a "Holy presence" (words csnt really describe). I was sure something supernatural was happening there, but my skepticism I've got from Protestantism made me consider to maybe it being a deception of Satan. However, the special thing about this place was, that they pray a Golden Rosary, which is directed to Jesus heart, which made me exclude any possibility that Satan could be the culprit of deception here. Also, the apparitions don't happen on the Lord's day, because the blessed mother doesn't put herself above her son. She leads to Jesus. Instead of viewing Marian devotion as idolatry I began to understand that Jesus gave His mother to us to be our mother and that prayer to her is not worship, just like asking someone on earth to pray for you is not worship. The reason Mary can hear our prayers is because she has zhe beatific vision. She is in heaven and united with God through her son and so are all other saints. That's how they can hear us. The plan of salvation is to make a huge family in God and we are never alone in faith. The whole body of Christ is united.

Very interesting story in this video. I'm Catholic too. Indeed, the theological arms of the Catholic Church are wide. The philosophical development over 2,000 years is unparalleled. Bringing up the idea that Protestant denominations continue to "protest" is an observant take. It is as much political as it is theological. In politics, any "radical" line of thinking cannot continue to exist without an adversarial incumbent. If it succeeds in eliminating the incumbent, a radical movement destabilizes since its views are usually fixated on criticizing established, outside authority. When the radical succeeds and becomes the established authority, then its internal incoherence emerges. The man's mentioning of Martin Luther as a "superpope" is the case in point. The Catholic Church is unique in that its existence isn't reactionary, thus doesn't rely on a continued worldly adversary. Its focus appears to me to aim higher, remaining steady on the theological/philosophical.
