I sure hope you continue with the videos. Old timers like me miss the days when you could take the dogs and a horse, or mule, and disappear for a while. I used to tell myself I was getting my head right, but in the process I learned to love the open country. Thanks for reminding me of that lost love.

I have used it for years .. many young preachers that are around me will say , “ as bro Wilcher says , Onward and Upward is our Watchword !”… so I’ve stated it for many years .. 😊😉👍👍.. but it’s certainly not original with me.. and so ; horizons are just goals when reached, show us more horizons .. We have lions here in our area in NW Montana. Quota system. Several years ago I was Jeep riding logging roads one early spring day. We were in timber and as we rounded a curve, a big Tom crossed the road in front of us. We went on a little ways and up an incline along side a creek. There in the road was a dead elk calf, maybe 350 pounds. I got out and lifted her back leg. She had been eaten a little bit there. There was a bluff about 10-12 ft high above the road. I went up there and found where the lion lay in the grass and watched the small herd of 6-8 elk walk by. He picked the easiest one, of course.

Brett, I am thinking that lion hunting dry ground takes more patience than fishing a dry hole. Perseverance and love of the hunt…..a lot of work at the beginning and the end of the day… saddling, unsaddling, feeding , water, food, gear sorting storing…..but most days, fun , seeng country, game,! Thanks again 👍🏻🤠 Different rifle o this sojourn…..

I was just about to ask you hv you ever seen or heard any odd sounds, howls or large human foot prints , rock stacks , stick structures ? 9:38 there it is! Now you or anyone try that ? Hours! It’s an Ebinizer or marker? Goes back to biblical times . I spent a lot of time alone in the high timber and had a cabin ! Fed by spring water , no electricity . And I had thee weirdest run in with something trying to snatch my dog? Anyway that pretty much answered my question!

The word I grew up using for a bowl in the bedrock that holds water is 'Tinaja'. There is an old ranch between Tucson and Nogales that has a lot of those rock beds. The name of the ranch is Las Tinajas. Perhaps the word you're using is correct in a Native American tongue but in Spanish its Tinaja.

That area looks like the southern trail described to me as a boy scout at Philmont. Our troop took the northern trail which was cool at night with plenty of streams to bathe and swim. I know mules are sure footed and don't spook like a horse, but do really give her the directions of where you going or do you let her guide the trail? And is a mule more comfortable to ride than a horse? I hope I'm not too confusing with the first question.
