Woowee,,,, In 1978, I was helping my Outfitter take a string of 5 mules to the mountain tops Southwest of Rifle Colorado. We were already on top about 2 miles from the old line shack we used for a camp site. Going through a stand of Quakies one of the mules hung a pack tote on one of the tall thin Quakies, and it shook a hornets nest down on top of her ! Damn,, we had 5 mules, and 2 horses pitching and running through those aspens and unloading packs and scattering our groceries and goods for 1/4 mile. Man, what a wreck !!! Quite a memory !! Thanks for the videos !!!!!!!

Brett, I have personally watched every one of your videos but something about this particular video was very inspirational to me, you have come along way since your first video and I still look forward every time you post a new one. It’s amazing to me that we are so like minded regarding this type of lifestyle. I also enjoy riding my mule’s and being in the outdoors. Good job!

Whatever you do, do not stop making these videos! I’m 76 years old. I have dreamed of your lifestyle all my life. I’ve had a couple of good mules and several horses in my days. I love the back country, and used to say quite often “I was born 100 years too late”. I can’t say with words how much I miss my critters. Much better than human friends.

I envy you your good gentle mules. Lot of folks think a mule can't run. Many, many years ago I went to a horse show, won a blue ribbon with a weanling foal there too. But they had mule pulling contests and a mule race there too. Some folks had bred mules by some fine fast quarter horse mares and those mules could scat like a scared jackrabbit. Fastest one was a little sorrel ridden by a little freckle faced red haired girl no bigger than a bobbin. When she came down off the side of that mountain her pigtails were flying and that little mule was low to the ground and moving like a rocket. I was 12 and it's something I'll always remember. Thought I'd share.

Mules can find their way even when they haven’t been there before. When the weather was bad, or the night pitch black, I would follow my mule. She never failed to get us where we were going, safe and sound.

Hey Brett love watching your videos. In my younger years I use to hike down into the Grand Canyon a lot. One year we were on the South Kaibab Trail headed down to the bottom. When we got to Cedar Ridge which is a large flat area only about 1 mile below the rim a mule pack was coming up. It's where they take their last rest stop before topping out on the South Rim trail head. I was watching the mules coming up and one cowboy was riding a young mule that was being trained. He came around a tight bend in the trail and his mule just started bucking with him, Didn't seem to faze the rider much at all. those are pretty tough guys. I got to talk to him for a few minutes and he explained what the tail clippings meant on the mules to designate ages.. I have had many horses over the years, but never got a chance to ride a mule. The Gila River runs just North of my home town of Coolidge, AZ, use to swim & fish it.

Johnson Lake is a family favorite. If you do get to the Pecos, I will be watching with baited breath. Beautiful country for sure. Last backpacking trip I took with my parents and three sisters, we got caught by a hailstorm. Two miles in, we were so cold and wet, my Dad turned us all around and we headed back to the trail head. Disappointed but satisfied we made a smart decision to leave.

Another great video Brett. Thanks. Turned the video on after I got home from checking cows this morning. While you were making history, I paused to make breakfast and then turned the video back on. Finished the video with a good cup of coffee. Only way to do it. Have to say you have me concerned that you and Agnes had fallen off the trail just before the black bear. Reminds me of the time Bronco Billy Bedson and I did a elk hunt down in the Savana Creek area about 30 years ago. Good time then too. Thanks again, hope to see you soon.

Awesome footage of my home country!! I grew up in Cliff!! Good to see someone sharing footage of this forgotten primitive wilderness!! 😊 Oh and I know where there is a uplift full of apache tear!! Hiked up over turkey feather and down iron creek a couple times as a teenager.. back before it burned!! Nice bear!!

Hey Brett, this is Russell I hope those Apache tears brought you luck. My friend came up from T or C and brought some Hatch Chili's that we roasted and ate with some wild mushrooms that we foraged. Just got back a couple days ago. I'm back in Tucson and I sure do miss those cool nights.

Brett, to me, one of your best scenic video’s. Relaxing, no rush, beautiful country, mules, hounds…..I know you had food somewhere 🫢 I am spoiled now, a trailer with a thermostat, privy, shower, stove ,couch….etc. not as far back in, but comfortable , generator I never lite it up, just back up. You must not be a fisherman, neither am I ,but those lakes looked inviting. Thanks a bunch…..🤠👍🏻

Thanks again for the great video. I respect the way you use a drone to get the far away perspective,I know that isn't easy, however you do it like it'd being filmed by a crew. Really enjoy these,Someday I might do a video getting to the rock house in the Gierero mtns northeast of Tucson where I live.Thank you again.

I'm that Warm Springs Chiricahua Apache that told you about my 3x great grandfather's Victorio, Mangas Coloradas and Loco. Thought I'd watch this video as I have a daughter playing softball for WNMU Mustangs, and I'd like to check out the Gila area as my people were taken from here in 1886 to POW status in Florida, Alabama and Oklahoma.

That's the way I am, come 5 or 6,I'm ready to find camp for the night. I travel in a van, so my tent is always setup. But I don't see well at night anymore. So I like to be done driving by 6 the latest. But I'm 73 years old, had a stoke and open heart surgery, but I refuse to stop traveling and rockhounding. Better to die doing something you love, than wishing you had.I love the way you travel, because you can go farther into the wilderness. New Mexico and Arizona are my two favorite winter places to travel. Then the summers I like Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
