Every year in the East Bay of California, about 12 miles or so from SF, my local radio station would play this song on the 4th of July right before the fireworks at the local park started. They cued the music on the radio so it synced with the fireworks. This song with forever remind me of those summer nights with my family.

Before Covid- my daughter and myself had the privilege of greeting Steve perry at a breakfast location which he eats always on Sunday. Steve asked -my daughter (age 16 at the time) what is your favorite song- she said" When you love a woman" -Steve took the time to tell us how he wrote part of the song and sang a couple words from the song to us-what a nice gift that was.

My grandma still lives next door to some of the guys parents. Anyways my Dad passed away four years ago. My three year old son never met him, however he eat, sleeps and breathes Journey. Funny thing is that I don’t listen to Journey, because it would just make me miss my Dad and make me cry. So he picked that up on his own. He dances around the living room putting on his own little Journey concerts. So there’s hope :) for the younger ones.

Freddie Mercury was asked what does it feel like to have the best voice in the world. Freddie replied “I don’t know why don’t you ask Steve Perry”.

Journey was a rock legend. This is the album that had us all listening. No other band will ever sound like them. Steve Perry was the voice of rock for a long time. I miss hearing him and the rest of the band. This was the sound of 1978

In my 50's now, but every time i hear this song it takes me back to my younger days and all the memories come flooding back. When your young all you wanna do is grow up fast where no one can tell you what to do. When your all grown up and no one is telling you what to do anymore you would give anything to go back to those days when they were. Enjoy your youth, but dont be quick to grow up.

wormyish Freddie Mercury was more of a frontman than a singer. Yes, Freddie can sing, but somehow I don't imagine Freddie singing a song as challenging as Mother, Father. I can imagine Steve Perry singing the Queen songs well. Freddie's gift was how he was able to motivate the audience. And Freddie did all the wrong things when it came to voice care: he smoked which messes up your lungs and he drank alcohol which reduces the fluid in the circulatory system which supplies the vocal folds.
@nonoyobeezewax952710 жыл бұрын
B Martin No way....Steve's voice is too squeaky for Queen. He doesn't even sing in the same range as Freddy. If you believe that Freddy couldn't sing "better" then you are very mistaken. Freddy way a whole lot better than you give him credit for, and Steve could never write music as "complicated" as Queen's.

I've literally never heard anyone put so much soul into a song. No one comes close to Steve. I'm serious, If there is a band that plays in heaven, Steve will be the singer. I wish he could just come back with Journey and do a farewell tour. I want it so bad. He's a legend.
