Steve Perry said this song is inspired from an experience back in school. He was swimming in a river, and he saw a girl he knew from school. He said she was a little older than him and never gave him the time of day. She was wearing extremely short "blue jean" shorts that he said left very little to the imagination, which is where 'Blue Jean Girl' came from. She was blond and tanned, which is where 'Golden Girl' came from. He was laying on a large "stone" in the sun to warm up because the water was so cold. Which is where 'Stone in Love' came from. Steve has said that the line, "Golden girl, I'll keep you forever." is one of his favorite lines ever. He meant he would keep her forever in his memory.

Kings of the 70s Rock Ballad. Nobody sings better than Steve Perry & FZ kicked Neal Schon out of the Mother's of Invention for having a promising career & shouldn't be stuck behind Frank. Same for Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, & there are others. FZ was Unique and Special. Decades ahead of his time. 🎶🎧🔥✌️

Been following Journey for decades. Steve perry had the best voice ever. I'll be 60 this year and still love to see younger generations listen to great music. It's so sad they dont make music like they use too. You got a long journey ahead of you Hap for great music. I'll go along for the ride❤❤🎵🎶🎹🎤

Yesss!! This song is probably my second favorite if I have to name one.. number one favorite is " separate ways Worlds Apart' for me. It's a beautiful rock love song.. I won't have to play any musical instruments vocal lessons as a kid and G's as far as American bands are concerned Journey without bands like Bon Jovi AC DC and even Van Halen. Many people might smack me for even mentioning that regarding Van Halen but until they got Sammy Hagar on both vocals, I didn't like the band that much. The musicians were fabulous and David Lee Roth was a fantastic front man but not a good voice.

Journeys music is every bit as relevant today as it was back then. Yes Neil is that good, he was touring with Santana when he was 15 years old. Also the other guy playing the guitar on this is Jonathan Cane who is on keyboards usually but Neil gave him some lessons while they were on tour and I’ve got to say he’s not too shabby on the guitar either.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🕺🏻💃🎸☘️

Late to the comments. I like it when the Bass in mentioned. Yes, Steve Perry IS "the voice." Yes, Neil Schon is one of the guitar greats. But, Ross Valory crushes the Bass. Put it this way, I like how Bass was in a lot of "dinosaur rock." I like when you "know the Bass is there." I like it when the Bass player makes the Lead Guitarist "earn his $." Journey's Bass player crushes it !!!

Steve took over playing the “Whale” which is what the band referred to the huge red piano that was moved around and used for all their concerts. The keyboard player Jonathan Cain was playing rhythm guitar up front for this song. So happy to see you diving into some great Journey, there is so much more to discover. Just the Same Way is another great older Journey that showcases Steve’s amazing voice and also the original keyboard player Gregg Rollie. Looking forward to seeing some more great Journey reactions from the BEST reactor on KZbin friend! Enjoy♥️

WooHoo, so delighted to wake up and have a new Journey reaction to listen to!! And now they have a playlist too. Neal Schon is the lead guitarist 🎸, who played with Santana, before joining Journey and was a member of the band Bad English, along with the keyboardist Jonathan Cain 🎹. 💥💥. "Open Arms", "Lights", " Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin', Don't Stop Believin'" "Only the Young", and so, so many more are all classic Journey songs worth exploring. 🔥🔥🔥🎼🎵 Peace J.

I know! I listen to Journey on KZbin all the time even though I was born in 1967 but Journey was big when I was growing up in the mid-to-late 70s and in the 1980s. They were touring with the new singer probably 10 or 15 years ago. Did guy actually looks very similar to Steve Perry but I think he's Filipino. "Arnel" is the guy's name and he's very very good.. Arnel sounds more like Steven Perry. Perry is still much better.. kind of like comparing Freddie Mercury to Adam Lambert._ I like Arnell with Journey better. Journey is my favorite American band and Queen my favorite British band try and try.. Adam Lambert has a fabulous job and he does the very best he can do with Queen.. he has definitely improved over the past five years or so.. I'm just spoiled because I'm a huge Freddie Mercury fan and when Queen was touring with Paul Rodgers,, I was a happy camper.. it's just personal preference

Thanks Hap!!! Love this SONG!! I gave a couple of songs last week but I don't know if you ever saw my comment.. this is one of my favorites by them and I didn't even mention this song.. I was talkin about " separate ways Worlds Apart".. that is rock like this, but really really beautiful.. overly sensitive individuals Call it eerier or depressing.. " separate ways Worlds Apart" is just about love and the facts!! We can love people dearly but sometimes it just doesn't work and it can't. The song makes me think of high school sweethearts who break up sometimes when they go away to college because they can't keep in contact with one another. That's just life. Thank you for your reactions. you're playing journey and you're going to get a lot more requests from people. Watch out! You are our favorite KZbin Music Man, HAP!!

Haha!! Yes that was hilarious. True! Their guitar player has been playing his whole life as well.._ damn he's been playing since he was a teenager ( in popular bands since he was about 16 or 17) the guitar players have something going on because the lead guitars always like to show off and do their loud solos.. Brian always did. John Paul Jones thought that John Deacon should use the heavier bass sounds. John Deacon didn't like the stick out as a sore thumb.. I'm sure it was all Freddie Mercury could do to get the guy to come out and sing.. John Paul Jones said that John Deacon was the youngest and one of the best bass players but he should play a heavier Bass. That wasn't Queen's Style. Songs like dragon attack, and another one bites the dust, and Under Pressure do have heavier Baselines. John Deacon favorite song was dragon attack and I don't even think he wrote it.. probably Freddie Mercury or Brian.
