game was KID, not pirc. And you wanna stay at the center push the h pawn after he castles, then develop everything. When he pushes f5 you castle queen side otherwise if they can lock up both the center and king side then throw everything on the queen side and it's over for white

KID is d4 Nf6 c4 g6 Nc3 Bg7 etc. Pirc is e4 d6 d4 Nf6 Nc3 g6 and that's what the position looked like in the game. I never played c4 so it's technically not a KID. That might be a line. I'll check it out later. But usually as White I don't want Black to call the shots and do what he wants. If I start attacking on the kingside instead that's not comfortable to a KID or Pirc player and I'm playing on home ground.

@@virtualanirudh you're right, but KID theory is to play d6 after e4 then continue as however they normally play. not playing c6 is a good idea, but if your opponent traded bishops then moved the knight for c5 b5 b4 qb6 a5 a4 stuff instead of reacting to your attacks it's a bit hard for white, especially in your position since your pieces were not developed this is just a general idea and it's obviously based on who gets to get a good attack first, but im always happy to learn and share what ik

Completely missed the reply. Sorry about that. KZbin only shows me new comments and not replies. Totally. I have lost games exactly in the way you described. It's a super double edged position. But I think it takes even Black out of their comfort zone. KID players are the ones who usually attack on the kingside and so getting attacked throws them off their game too.
