As Pastor of a Church I was offered a sneak preview of Journey to Bethlehem - along with my wife and kids. This movie is simply outstanding! This is simply a beautiful retelling of the events leading up to the birth of Jesus. The costumes are good, the scenery and camera work create a worthy visual experience. The actors are well chosen and extremely likeable. This movie has managed to stay Biblically accurate and yet allow the characters to be human - like we are. There are real emotions and humor displayed, which allow us to connect more deeply with the reality and depth of this story. I am trained in classical music and Theology and can say that I was pleased in many ways with this musical movie. The Jewish elements of arranged weddings, customs, agriculture and travel were all well depicted. I had wondered how they would handle the place of birth and was impressed that even in this detail this movie chose the correct locale. Few are aware of just how dangerous and deranged King Herod was, and this movie along with a very credible performance by Antonio Banderas give Herod all that delusional jealousy and megalomania. History has shown that Herod had his wife, her mother, her brother and 3 of his sons murdered. Banderas shows off his vocal abilities and truly brings his character Herod to center stage with a full range of emotions. His song was a high point musically and dramatically. The musical aspects far exceeded my expectations! Several of the songs will no doubt become top hits and I have no doubt this will become a staple for High School and College musicals. There is true musical talent in this music and even the coldest hearts will melt and shed tears. This movie is fun, touching and offers a human connection to the Bible’s greatest event. Suitable for all audiences!

No thanks, we are already tired of so much connection with unreality.For example, God performed a miracle and Mary became pregnant with a👻, but the almighty god could not protect them from the wrath of Herod, who did not slaughter all babies as the Bible says,.Historically this genocide did not exist. Too many events in the Bible are just nonsense and fairy tales

The story in this movie is an obvious lie. First of all, Mary and Joseph were not at same age. As in the gospels, Joseph is older than Mary maybe more than twice her age. Besides, where does it say in the gospel Mary used to enjoy dancing parties? Mary was spending most of her time praying in the temple where Zachary the priest and husband of her cousin Elizabeth was serving. God saw Mary was not an ordinary girl. Ordinary girls were millions. Mary was virgin pure innocent religious little girl, that is why God send her His angel Gabriel to give her the message from God that she was blessed by God and chosen to give birth of our saviour Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.

What bible verse does it say that Joseph was twice or age?? You are right regarding that. Mary was blessed by God because she had a humble and contrite spirit, and she loved the Lord. Obviously, nothing as worldly as dancing or partying, HOWEVER, the movie doesn't say anything about mary wanting to dance and go to parties. In the movie mary wants to be a teacher.
