As Pastor of a Church I was offered a sneak preview of Journey to Bethlehem - along with my wife and kids. This movie is simply outstanding! This is simply a beautiful retelling of the events leading up to the birth of Jesus. The costumes are good, the scenery and camera work create a worthy visual experience. The actors are well chosen and extremely likeable. This movie has managed to stay Biblically accurate and yet allow the characters to be human - like we are. There are real emotions and humor displayed, which allow us to connect more deeply with the reality and depth of this story. I am trained in classical music and Theology and can say that I was pleased in many ways with this musical movie. The Jewish elements of arranged weddings, customs, agriculture and travel were all well depicted. I had wondered how they would handle the place of birth and was impressed that even in this detail this movie chose the correct locale. Few are aware of just how dangerous and deranged King Herod was, and this movie along with a very credible performance by Antonio Banderas give Herod all that delusional jealousy and megalomania. History has shown that Herod had his wife, her mother, her brother and 3 of his sons murdered. Banderas shows off his vocal abilities and truly brings his character Herod to center stage with a full range of emotions. His song was a high point musically and dramatically. The musical aspects far exceeded my expectations! Several of the songs will no doubt become top hits and I have no doubt this will become a staple for High School and College musicals. There is true musical talent in this music and even the coldest hearts will melt and shed tears. This movie is fun, touching and offers a human connection to the Bible’s greatest event. Suitable for all audiences!

You can certainly elect not to watch this enjoyable movie, but your comments about reality and history will require more study on your part. Bethlehem at that time was quite small and Herod's command may have only put to death 20 to 30 males (not something that would be added to historian's accounts). There is ample evidence of Herod's deranged and lethal mindset, so this is no stretch. Even the Smithsonian has made several statements concerning the accuracy of the Bible as a historical document - which has yet to be disproven.@@LiliAna-bq8lb

​ @joelweber3462 ,studying this awful prank is a waste of time from the moment you read about a god who urges his submissive slaves to paint their door frames with blood, so that the powerful and omniscient god will not make mistakes and will not kill their children, but only those of the enemies .... when a donkey, a snake and a burning bush speak .... when you read that no sinless people were found in Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities were destroyed, even there , the loving god did not care about babies at all, he did not forgive enyone....when you read that the so-called son of god died shouting „ My God, My God, why did you leave me? ” ... and similar atrocities in this holy shit 🙄

I hosted a pre-screening of this film and will happily pay to go see it again! The music was so enjoyable, the comedic moments were really funny, and "The Greatest Story Ever Told" was delightfully re-told in a musical format. Cast and characters (Fig the Donkey!!) were outstanding! Vocals were strong. Choreography was authentic. As a music educator, the most beautiful musical moment for me was when the shepherd girl sang "Silent Night." Do not miss this movie!! Take your entire family! Ask your church to rent a theatre for a showing. It was really well done. Tutti Bravi, Affirm Films!!

We saw it in the theater tonight & my 3 teens, 12, 17, 18, loved it! My husband & I did too. We have 3 musicians in the family & their standards are high. The whole thing reiterates how regular people can be used greatly by God if we listen & obey, despite our normal fears. A very Biblical message! Believable, realistic, inspiring characters. The acting, scenes, & (even) the singing was wow! Dramatic enough but never overdone, very fitting and touching- and nothing was cringe or Broadway. I was so surprised. I normally don't like most musicals unless they are exceptional! I'm buying the movie & soundtrack immediately! It will be on many more times before Christmas in our house hopefully and then added to our family Christmas traditions each year.

This movie is exactly what it is, a movie, it's not relevant, and to that pastor who made a comment on how wonderful this movie is he should know that it goes against what he should have read. Movies like this take the Word and change it and put words and actions where they don't go. Tell me where any of this was written, maybe a couple of parts but small parts. Aweful.

A true masterpiece that I've seen twice already and one that I'll look forward to re-watching every Christmas from now on! What's not to like about it? It has everything - a great cast, great cinematography and a terrific soundtrack to boot with every song a winner in my opinion! If you've not seen it, what are you waiting for?! If you have seen it, go watch it again LOL! This film truly deserves the same meteoric success as 'The Greatest Showman' and as a personal plea to the film makers, could you please release the song instrumentals for people to cover and spread the word including myself! :-)

No, a lot of times they twist and mock the scriptures in these kinda movies. I don't know about this one but I remember Noah being straight-up offensive. Only good Bible movies I know of are The Prince Of Egypt. And also The passion of the Christ

My stepdaughter worked on the film for this movie. I just got out of a premier and was amazed at the outstanding performance of all the characters! The songs were incredible, as well as the dancing! Hearing of the time and dedication put into this movie behind the scenes is fabulous! I'm so glad that Hollywood finally make a family-freindly, biblical movie. I highly suggest coming to see it when it's released to the public this Friday! 2:17

I’m hesitant on the assumptions of Mary and Joseph’s personalities. The Bible tells the story so well! It’s hard to watch someone else’s interpretation of what they must’ve been like and how the events actually took place. But we’ll see 😊

Obsessed with this trailer. Joseph and Antipater (Antipas) are my favorites. And at 1:45, Fiona Palomo looked... super pregnant! And I think Joseph's face at 1:46 is adorable. Also Fiona's face at 1:57 is adorable! I am not her biggest fan, but I do love that little expression on her face. She is just too cute! I need to see this in theaters! I so want to see Jesus Christ in Fiona's tummy! What I mean by that is Fiona being pregnant with him throughout the beginning and middle of the movie. Do I think that Joseph is attractive? Yes, yes I do. Mary looks too cute by the way. Excited to see this beautiful cute film before I see sweetie Darren Criss for his A Very Darren Crissmas show either in Virginia or New Jersey.

Many read the book before watching the movie, may anyone who plans to watch this movie read The Book (Matthew and Luke and others if you so please) before watching the movie. Also research The original and true Hebrew name of The Messiah (Yahusha), His actual birth date (read about Elisheba and Miryam’s pregnancies and know that the Bible defines the New Year occurring in the same month of Passover which is march/april and not january), and research the origins of christmas (Jeremiah 10:1-5). May you know the Truth and the Truth set you free (John 8:32).
