This truly is the Mega Man soundtrack for a game that isn't Mega Man. This song is a work of art. I mean that literally. This is an 8bit song, that could easily have slid into the top songs for a SNES list, and nobody would bat an eye. Whoever composed this one? They need more credit. This one is a masterpiece.

I played through this a couple years ago on Twitch. Beat it on stream and honestly, this seriously is a criminally underrated soundtrack for an equally underrated game. Plus I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this would be right at home in a Mega Man game.

The composer is Naoki Kodaka, he also composed the OST for Blaster Master, Batman and Super Spy Hunter

What's even harder to believe is NES games were programmed using Assembly language, since compilers from traditional languages were not as good back then.

Most people used DPCM to throw in really crappy voice samples. Sunsoft was like "Oooh, we have another instrument slot!"

Really?? I didn't see that one coming. It is a very obscure game. Only reason I knew about it was thanks to Gamepro TV back in the day, and then I got a copy new for $10 back in the day. Totally worth every dollar. Still have my childhood copy and no one will ever take it from me, they have to kill me but even then I would come back as a ghost to make sure it stays where it belongs WITH ME.

@@LUCKO2022 I never knew about it and sadly missed out on this game during my childhood. It would go unnoticed until a couple of years ago when I saw a speedrun of it during AGDQ. I found a physical copy and it fast became one of my favorite NES titles.

I actually started this game recently for a Twitch playthrough after a couple of my subscribers recommended it. My god is this game savagely difficult, but it's just too much fun and the music is absolutely amazing!

A lot of the Sunsoft games had an amazing soundtrack. Too bad more people don't know about this game, it's actually pretty decent--but the soundtrack is pretty incredible, especially considering it's an 8-bit game. See the two Batman games that Sunsoft did as well for more amazing music.

This one was a rental for me back in the day, but I vividly remember how amazing the soundtrack was. I even recorded it off onto cassette on my ancient stereo. The game was great, but man, the music blew me away.

The team who worked on the music for JtS was absolutely amazingly talented. They really pushed the NES to its limits. My favorite might be stage 2 for its unbelievable complexity, just pure eargasm... Sunsoft WTF!

0:11-0:55, 1:08-1:51, 2:04-2:47 reminds me of the Main Theme from Hang-On (1985, Arcade) written by Hiroshi Kawaguchi and the Bubble Man Stage Theme from Mega Man 2 (1988, NES) written by Takashi Tateishi.

This game is know to have one of the best 8 bit soundtracks ever, with some lasting about 2 or so minutes. That's very unique and uncommon in many Nintendo games, as most of the games only last about 5 to 30 seconds before looping. Solar Jetman is another game that has long soundtracks. (Except Planet 9 and 13)

For those who don't understand: Journey to Silius was going to be originally an interactive adaptation of Universal's The Terminator, but the rights were lost during the development, so assets and story had to be altered

Sunsoft should NEVER had OCEAN go near the NES version of Lemmings and should have done the NES version themselves with Tokai Engineering doing the soundtrack for the NES version of Lemmings.

For everyone comparing this track to Mega Man, you're absolutely right. For everyone who isn't convinced or is just curious, go check out Mega Man and Bass's intro stage theme, specifically the GameBoy Advance version. There's way too many similarities between this song and that one

for 20 years I could remember this song but never the game it came from, i remember playing it at a friends house, now all that's left to remember of my childhood NES days is the name of a game I once had, I remember being able to play as various character, including a dog, and I remember it being a sidescroller...
