I think you do the best reaction to journey for the fact that you can feel him just through his voice. Steve Perry touches your soul that why most people are stund and amazed and mesmerized by the sound of his voice. Steve Perry puts his pain through his voice but he himself lost a woman in the early 2000s from breast cancer. They had only been together for less than two years. She asked Steve to make her a promise that he wouldn't go back into isolation after she passed and that's why he made the album called ""TRACES!!! Look for "In the rain!!! ""I need you!!! ""You belong to me!!! These songs are bone chilling because his voice sounds raspy BUT he has mastered it unlike most singers who can't sing like they used to being of many concerts singing for hours at a time for years. Steve Perry is a very humble man and I've been at those journey concerts in the early 80s growing up in Houston. Steve has never smoked cigarettes nor have I ever heard of him doing drugs. That alone makes him a strong man mentally could you imagine how many women through themselves at him 🤔 those songs he sings is coming straight from his heart 💔

Yes he should defiantly check out that one but it needs to be the live in Houston version. I mean that is the best live vocal performance of all time in my opinion and many others. Steve Perry is defiantly a once in a lifetime and maybe even a once in all of time singers that makes you feel so blessed just to have lived in the same time to experience his unique Gift from God! That's what I feel every time I hear his live performances especially to the song Mother Father live in Houston. And you can even see how much joy he gets from singing, there's just nothing like it.

This song was nominated for a Grammy. Unfortunately Steve hurt his hip while getting in shape to tour for this album, so it didn’t get promoted well and it isn’t widely known. After this the band with Steve never got back together. Steve had to have a hip replacement and the band grew tired of waiting for him to have it done and moved on without him but continued to call the band Journey. After that I think there were wounds that could never be healed. Steve recently recorded a solo album, in the past 2 years, an album called “Traces.” It is really good. You should check it out♥️

Highly recommend checking out his newest album Traces. He is older now and the music is so emotional as it was mostly written after his girlfriend died but so so so good. My favorites off the album are We’re Still Here and Sun Shines Gray.

they were up for a Grammy for this one and lost out to someone I've even forgotten about now.... he was in a lot of pain during this vid - he needed hip surgery and they had to pack his hip with ice between takes on this vid - and then because he wouldn't do the surgery right away they said they were going to audition singers for a tour. With that he went to his lawyer and said he wanted a "divorce" and that was the end of the original Journey.....this became the last vid and performance they ever did together as Journey...
