I was stationed on an aircraft carrier in the late 80's, and used to pull into Subic Bay, Philippines frequently. Used to go to this awesome rock bar called "California Jams" in Olongapo City. I was always amazed at the band how the singer could imitate ANYONE perfectly. That singer was Arnel Pineda, and his band was the regular house band at Cal Jams back then. Dude did GnR, Boston, Queen, Bad Co, you name it, he could sing it. I must have seen him a dozen times back then. I remember thinking... "This dude could come to America and kill it!"

Be grateful if you are fan of Journey. All the people posting negative comments are living in the past. If you think Journey is going to sound like it's 1982 you're out of your mind. Even if it was the Escape line up performing, people age, people change and it's not going to be the same almost 40 years later! Listen to Steve Perry's solo album. While it is quite good, his voice could never handle any of these songs live. Be thankful Arnel is performing with them and you're still able to see Journey live. If not, go see Dean and Greg with Journey Through Time (Awesome too!). Either way, stop with the negativity and be grateful these guys are still making music and performing for you.

Also needing to be added is poor Arnels voice is worn from doing his job and trying to fulfill those Steve Perry tunes, and HIS ageing. Imagine what it did to Steve's voice! He hasn't lost his voice, but it has changed, but his talent for writing and delivery is what is loved. I love Hearing anything Journey, but it's Steve Perry's style that's the bomb!

The band insisting Arnel needs to sing the Journey material is also doing a number on Arnels voice. The wear on the cords is unmistakable, so the singer has to adapt. Or not sing those songs that made Journey. You know that won't happen. Well guess what, here comes another singer! Deen Castronovo.

What a superb performance by Arnel Pineda and the band. Aside from his raw talent, as seen in his live performances before he joined Journey, he gained so much valuable experience as vocalist and frontman of Journey through the years. He does not need autotune or any artificial vocal enhancements to showcase his vocal prowess and versatility as a singer. He don't have to prove to anybody how talented he is. Despite the grueling touring, he still gave it all night after night. Arnel Pineda gave Journey this badass rock persona. Definitely he is the best vocalist and frontman of the rock band Journey!

Dear god this song has the highest notes. Arnel Pineda will live in world music history as one of the best vocalist and frontman of one of the best and most admired band in the world. They all just keep on giving and that voice is eternally awesome. And it's 2020, sad early months with this coronavirus, listening to the band and Arnel sings takes your mind off from this virus crisis.

It's a karaoke killer unless you drop down a few semitones. It's 2021, still listening to this to take the edge of this disaster.

One of the best solos period, but one of the best solos in a ballad ever. Vocals, Arnel, as usual, on point.

Hot Take: This is the best solo in rock. Sure, it's not overly complicated. It's hard and soft at the same time. It doesn't just make me hype, but it makes me feel melancholic at the same time. It's beautiful. Any other beautiful solos like this out there? I want to discover more.

Great song! It is good to hear this song again with Arnel Pineda! Good to watch with people who enjoy playing and singing the music . I haven't listened to this since the 80s. Steve Perry said he has moved on from these songs! Love Steves new CD with Traces and Were Still Here. Glad there is no singer drama like in Van Halen. I seen a picture of Steve giving Arnel a hug - I think it was at the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

I have been a Journey/Neal Schon fan since the early 80's, have seen them in concert 9 times, have watched and listened to everything they have out and I absolutely can not get enough of Neal's solo on this one. WCN has always been my favorite Journey tune and his solos on it are always off the top, soulful, heartfelt, moving, and the sometime changes in the licks that he is capable of blending in and keeping the song fresh just blows me away. Ordered my self and my grand daughter ( named Jurni after the band ) each a set and cant wait to sit in front of my 70' tv with the surround blaring feeling I am once again in the front row. Keep doing what you do Neal YOU ARE JOURNEY

I miss the power of Deen Castronovo on drums and his vocals he made a big difference in Journey. Steve Smith is great drummer also but the music with Deen on drums felt more powerful.

Can i ask if where's deen? Is he now leaving the band? Tia..
@MikeHart665 жыл бұрын
@@n4dzudezie257 He was thrown out of the band when he was battling with his demons. Nowadays he's the drummer of the Dead Daisies, Revolution Saints and other projects. HE does awesome well there. When you hear him singing, you can see right away that his voice was also essential to the overall sound of Journey!

Yeah. I like the Journey Through Time stuff much more than this. There is no chemistry here. Singer is good but to me, Dean and this JTT band is just far superior. Greg is here toi. Much better mix of their songs and Dean really shows here he's a monster.

I grow up in this Journey's tone of voice in my 80's is a trade mark. Just listening feels like I'm still in my teenage year's. All good. 🙂

This is the best version of this song and that includes the original! The band as a unit was at another level this night! Arnel was channeling his Steve Perry and Neil solo was the best that he has played on this tune. Whenever I listen to this tune this is the one I listen to now along with the original

@@roydroll2542 I watched the documentary about Arnel being hired....actually think he's been in the band now longer than Steve Perry was, anyway, the arenas in Asia were packed, even in the states - be they Filipino or not, but a lot of the fans were Asian.
