On this song, I can hit about 80% of the vocal high notes but the upper few get me so frustrated that I usually stop trying for a while. Regardless, I would have to be having a 1 out of a 100,000 day to even come close, much less running around the whole stage and still doing it. There is only 1 Steve Perry!!

J P You're right. Seeing Journey live was a M I G H T Y experience, but only in looking back have I realized how truly great it was. But it's usually TOO easy to take golden moments for granted when you're in your early years. On the other hand, wisdom says that we should ALL take time to notice today's gold, and stop long enough to be thankful, because too soon those moments will be consigned to the past, too. Appreciate your comment, J P. ❤️

The Voice....Mr. Perfect Pitch. Met him on a couple of occasions while working security...fantastic human being with uncanny sense of humor. He knew he was good, but never flaunted it. Stevie and Ian Gillan were the greatest I've ever heard. Gillan a bit more rangey, but Stevie's clarity and pitch are second to none, including Mercury.

This isn’t an easy song to sing, especially when the drummer starts it juuuuust a bit too fast….and I know because I used to cover it in my band in the eighties and we had a drummer that usually started it too fast…so yeah, …but he pulls it off flawlessly regardless…absolute vocal genius. There will never be anyone as great as him ever again. Mic drop.

If Jesus, The Christ, wanted to sing, he would use Steve Perry's voice to do it, because he invented it. He created it to be indelible, and imbued it with a perfect phenomenologically charismatically incontrovertible sound.

My first real rock concert seeing them on this tour at the LA Forum. I was 10 and he wore the same shirt but I think came out with the white tails jacket at first. Loverboy was the opening act.

@@EuphoriaPiana Page and Hendrix are and were good but my all time favorite is David Gilmour. A true master of his craft. I'm a dyed in the wool Pink Floyd fan but I'd probably still like Gilmour, maybe not as much but his abilities cannot be denied.

@@danielstewart7163 Another one (although in different genres of music) is Rory Gallagher, who could sing and play well at the same time. Moreover, Neal Schön was left-handed and could play right-handed guitar even BETTER than Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, yet the elder, latter one gets ALL of the accolades for his just-above-average playing. But you can rest assured that all of the credit that Jimmy Page is getting is unmerited, not to mention that it has NOTHING whatsoever to do with talent, as usual. The VERY same thing applies to John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, who was a rather predictable drummer... I have seen MUCH better drummers than the likes of him; but hey, what do I know? Life never HAS been fair, sad to say. 😤🙄😔
