A frantic father pounds the streets, searching for his daughter. Schoolgirls, abused by pimps and enslaved by heroin, disappear into cars and shadowy motel rooms. A band of policemen desperately try to fix a system that punishes rather than protects. This visceral film follows those caught in a web of underage sex trafficking spun deep in the cracks of American society, in a gut-wrenching exploration of the lives destroyed by it.

The girl that had those scars from cutting....😢 I just wanted to reach thru the screen, give her a hug and tell her she is worth so much more. These girls may be prostitutes... and i feel really bad for them and the situation they've found themselves in.... but our gov't along with a few more around the world are the ones trafficking the over 2 million children and they didn't choose that!!! When are we going to do something about that?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! It makes me so fkn mad ppl look the other way. Thay save the children was just a social media fad that like most fads just faded away when the new thing came along. Its disgusting that we have allowed our govt/other govts to get away with it for as long as they have and continue to get away with it.

Great documentary. Real but not exploitative. KZbin is filled with so many creeps interviewing these young folks and asking questions such as: "What's the worst thing that's happened to you out here?". This may be the first I've seen that could actually educate and dissuade a young person from falling into this trap. Well done. Thank you!

Thank goodness, some people are trying to help these girls. One of the best people I knew was a girl who was my student. She told me that she became a prostitute at the age of 12!!! She couldn't stand men and lived with her girlfriend. She decided that she wanted a child, so she did go with a man for that. She turned out to be a great mother. When I was in the hospital, she came every day. I was paralyzed after an operation and she fed me because I couldn't feed myself. I will always be grateful to her. I moved out of that area and lost touch with her. I hope she and her girlfriend and her baby did o.k.

It’s horrible to think how that’s the norm, to expect this of people. Up to 80 hr wks wow. It’s patently unreasonable and can be dangerous. We go to doctors when we have problems calling for high-stakes, specialized decision making. Why would we want them impaired by some degree of exhaustion? It’s kind of like getting your accountant drunk right before they do your taxes. Maybe the whole tradition is like expecting to help drive your financial advisor into debt or bankruptcy, to just burn through them. I mean, it’s one thing to have the fortitude & stamina to pull long hours to meet the needs of any number of medical exigencies, but chronically of course is unhealthy. As a nurse (practitioner), I understand the bind involved in trying to meet the medical needs of the community, but it makes no sense to imagine that docs are somehow different than everyone else, that long work hours, stress & sleep deprivation just roll right off of them.

Does the state enable traffickers/pimps with its' policies on dugs and drug use? 90% are dependent on a substance. The state's policies create the leverage the trafficker needs. It is that simple. That doesn't mean the policies are wrong or unjust, but you can't deny that relationship to concept. Also, there should be way, way more Summons issued instead of arrest. It's the same bloody thing, except the arrest facilitates so much negative results, for all parties including the public. Streamline some benches, and just start pumping people through the process, so their public activity is documented. Offer programs and resources, but stop arresting people that are not dangerous. The detective's actions are admirable, but the state should not parent those who need it, they will just end up with a nation of babies. Cz that's what the next gen will learn, cz that's all their parents knew. That is the same direction we are on now. We need freedom to be freedom, i.e. personal choices, in private, are not the state's business. Public activity is the state's business. And when that is in place, above all, we need Justice. Real Justice. Not just murder, sa, death and mayhem Financial, obviously, but that is so depleted at present. So much 'theft' goes on over the counters over the phones, this is what creates monsters who sell their children to johns. Injustice from the time they are kids. There is a world, a dream, that we are somehow all aware of, and so many people grow up in a world that is nothing like that. They are stolen from, lied to, cheated their whole lives, with no one who cares to even listen to the injustice, let alone right it. But then, this store owner, gets justice for his candy bar, the neighbor gets justice for walking on his lawn, a girl makes up a story and a kid is getting state justice for something he didn't even do, all the while it's, 'go to school, be honest, get a job, you will have a good life. NO, that's not how it works. The cheaters, criminals, monsters win, cz they are actively playing a game that others are not. Fix that.

Your rambling is just that rambling. You do understand that if we didn’t have LEOs taking down prostitutes/prostitution rings, sex traffickers and pimps, would have even more freedom to groom and prepare another young teen, or ya know steal her away, cheat her family outta her love, all that stuff. The ones who don’t deserve it, are those stolen from their parents or tricked into it by an online lover. Those who go into it willingly, are where they are by their “private” choice. And they knew what they were getting into! Dont say “because that’s all they know, that’s what they’ll become” My entire family is full of alcoholics and drug addicts, abusive parents and generations of “he works, she cooks cleans and stays barefoot in the kitchen” I became NONE of that. Because I knew that even though that was all I knew, I also knew, it was everything I didn’t want to become, so I got out!

Wow! This brought me back 33 years ago. I got clean in 1991 - I didn't know if I was coming or going. My life was truly a mess, even though I didn't want to see it was. To see Natalie's mom at the end praise her made me very emotional. My mom can care less in all the years I've been clean. No matter what I do, she remains to downgrade all of my successes while she drinks hers away. Of course I can't tell her she has a problem. Like I had to admit and surrender, maybe one day she will too, but I gave up hope on that a long time ago. This video, well done!

Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions, Lisa made it out and has been doing well for years now. People not giving up on her waited her out and gave her the time she needed to figure things out. Most people can recover and come out of the darkness with persistence n understanding not judgement. It's easy to say she's a lost cause or she did it to herself but You don't know what they've been through or where they come from. Feel lucky n blessed to have people that cared, provided and guided you, most of these lost souls weren't blessed with those simple standard things most of us take for granted.

Assumptions like that aren't true; idk as much as y'all don't the compounding traumas n stresses as the REASON to NUMB brain n body pain. You seem so well versed in what street kids need: open a center for them n get em off the heroin by your methods. Jesus Christ ve with you. Christ be with all addicts and God BLESS those in recovery from traumas, addiction, survivors... Amen.

It's hard to feel sorry for the girl who ran away from home to Seattle. Was she abused? It appears that she had a loving family and she just took that for granted and wanted to see what the world has to offer. Then she realized what the world has to offer is misery and exploitation. Just her making poor life choices.

@user-mu2jh4cm7n. Not true. Research is finding more and more that parents have secret contempt for their children. Especially a parent with narcissistic traits.
