The narrator's voice was way louder than the people interviewed 1:20 into the video. It's annoying to turn the sound up to hear the man being interviewd, and then to have the narrator blast his voice. The volume levels on this video make it difficult to watch.

Me being from the North of the country, any comment I’ll make about this case might seem divisive since there were conflicts between the North and the South. I’m actually shocked especially when that man said South Africans aren’t giving them enough job. Like how the f you want them to magically heal your economical problems?

Yeah i think what the politician said was correct, that the neighboring farmers were promised a cash injection and jobs on this land, and the south africans were promised the farm land; so the middleman between the congolese and south africans effectively caused this tension, and run off with the grant money; where now the congolese farmers have to compete against south africans expensive farm equipment
@Winnas
@Winnas 3 жыл бұрын
@@oogabooga2581 Don't think it's even the expensive farm equipment. Modern techniques, efficiency management modeling, modern accounting, modern hiring practices, and general educational levels will have them out competing any African single family holding peasant farmer.

@@Winnas Well yes, the point of the Congolese government inviting experienced south african farmers was entirely for this reason, and the anticipation from the neighboring congolese farmers hoping for work when the *big south african corperation* employs everyone; Instead it wasn't co-operative venture that they were promised that turned up, it was their competition.

A lot of them left in a hurry when it seemed that they no longer had as much power as they did before. A lot of them came back. It's not surprising that they'd even have an interest in learning your language and being accepting of your cultures because they had to pull up that facade that they weren't bad people, that they loved black people and it's black South Africans who were the problem. White Americans do the same thing to black Americans. Thing is fellow Africans don't readily clock them so it really tends to drive friction between us all.

In our Congo Kinshasa, we face some problems of imports ... the government keeps on importing instead of encouraging the locals ... we have plenty of food but due to lack of good infrastructures, fishes are dying of aging, the vegetables are rotting in many areas ... the government doesn’t make it easier . So all the efforts the people are going to make will mean absolutely nothing especially for a country as big as the DRC... I believe it is also the problem in many other countries.

@Kamar G It isn't the Africans fault that the Creator created, then spoke them first. If you are of African descent, exactly what part of the earth, not your birthright? So please point in the direction we should begin our campaign. I humbly suggest, we start by fighting to change our hearts. Like it or not, as the firstborn, we don't have the luxury of pointing to any people who were born before us to place the blame. We, each of use has to change, regardless if you are first, second or third, we all are one in the eye of the creator. I hope we make tomorrow be the day our Creator witnesses a day, hour, minute, or second of the world without war, violence, and greed.

I will be kind enough to give some context to the name confusion. The Kingdom of Kongo, from which the name Congo was taken was a small Kingdom in Central Africa. This Kingdom was divided yes, but I'll come back to that afterwards to explain why it's bullshit to say whites divided the two Congos (that they were the same country in some past). Before French and Belgians colonized territoires in Central Africa, the whole region was referred to as "The Congo", not because it was a country known as Congo, but because the only ancient Kingdom with ties to European countries/Kingdom in that region was the Kongo Kingdom. If you had to compare that "The Congo" to the Kongo Kingdom in size, it would be similar to comparing a football field to a 30 cm ruler or so. So, what Europeans divided was not a country but a region with hundreds of Kingdoms and Chieftaincies which considered themselves different from each other. As a result, in some instances, rival Kingdoms were placed inside one country, in others some Kingdoms saw their territories split between different countries and this was the case for the Kongo Kingdom. The French decided the name their share "The French Congo", because as I already said, the whole region was then referred to as the Congo. Later on, the Belgians named their share "Belgian Congo". So, in short, if they did anything, they actually unified (or perhaps forced unity among) some territories and split some, but they did not separate a country named Congo. And most importantly, the confusion did not actually come from there. In 1958, right before independence, the French Republic granted some autonomy to its colonies, and the French Congo became a Republic, named the Republic of Congo, while the Belgian Congo remained that way till independence in 1960 where it was also named the Republic of Congo. That's where the confusion comes from, because then we had two countries with exactly the same name. To differentiate, the earlier was referred to as Congo-Brazzaville and the later Congo-Leopoldville (the capital cities were added to the word Congo). Although the later was subsequently renamed the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and then Zaïre and back to RDC, the confusion remained.

I did make a follow up and this is the correspondence on 4th of May, 2020 Dear Thomas, Thank you for your mail asking for information about the South African Farmers in the Congo (Brazzaville). I was the journalist who went with the farmer couple, Sarie and Frans Cronje, to the Congo in 1996. As you probably know, there was a civil war a year later which lasted until 1999. The first democratic elected President, Lissouba, who had invited the South Africans was ousted by a military coup through Denis Sassou with the help of the Angolan military. All the South African had to flee. As I have heard, Sarie and Frans found work in Pointe Noire. He was working at a saw mill, but I have no idea where they are now. Best regards, Marion

In your opinion where do these groups obtain their ammunition from? 2. What do you think would happen if these same countries did not have such problems (economically, socially etc.)? 3. In Saudi Arabia there is oil that is clearly benefiting the locals if one judges the quality of life there. How is that not possible in a country like Angola, Nigeria? They we invited!! The locals are stealing their things they bought on the property they were given. Take the fire wood for example. They are taking what they had already harvested. A little different if they had cut the wood themselves and carted it off. No race is imune from a horrid past. No race is immune from being slaves. I think these type of unstable countries that do not put in the hard honest work will never manage to survive long-term and will slowly disappear. They need a competent government, capital and mentality shift imo.

These South African farmers didn't buy that land .The land was leased to them by the government for a certain period .Then the land will be back to the government . How that happened ? In that province there are gold and iron deposits .More than twenty years ago , the former President signed a agreement with South African companies to exploit minerals .When the new president took office , the gold company decided not to continue .That's how the South African knew that province and its fertile land .

@MrsLovelyPendragon
@MrsLovelyPendragon Жыл бұрын
Considering most of the caucus mountains traverse Armenian, Iranian, Asian demographics are you asking non caucus people to colonize the area? You do realize that the Caucus region isn’t majority “white” as you incorrectly assumed. *Aside from the fact that the video shows the Chief of the village saying they were invited* because no one there knew anything about agriculture and was hoping the farmers could give ALL villagers a job. That’s the issue, not enough work, not the color of skin it’s work the villagers want from the farmers. Sadly, these farmers are not large corporations that can pay little wages to the whole village.

@hyacintheebula835 White people do not have monopoly over intelligence (or beauty for that matter). If you were to bother reading widely, then you would find, Boer farmers only thrived because they were heavily subsidised by the Apartheid regime. They used to receive loans at low interest rates to purchase seeds, fertilisers and machinery. The govt also imposed tariffs on imported food stuff, this gave Boer farmers monopoly over the local market and South Africans were made to buy food at high prices! Moreover, the Boer farmers exploited Black people by underpaying them or sometimes paying them in Alcohol (Cape wineries) or not paying them at all! White farmers thrived because they were cossetted by the apartheid regime and because they were able to exploit Black workers and customers. Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.

There needs to be gestures of goodwill between the locals and new farmers. Obviously, the S. Africans aren't rich enough for massive investments needed to provide the hoped for employment. Sharing tractors for harvest would be a good start. And restoring the stolen water cables. Everyone could benefit with mediation and expressed cooperation since they all face poverty, blacks and whites alike. Maybe the Congolese government should take the lead.

@DumaM-ir7rk you are very wrong there,it is not whites that were and are the slave masters ,slavery started with the Arabs ,and still today in their countries there is still slavery going ,to own a black slave in the early years ,you had to be wealthy ,poor people could not afford slaves ,period, .if you think that black people are being slaughtered here why don't you come to South Africa and see who is the cause of black people suffering,it's not white people,it's the black government and the foreigners that fled their own countries to come here to steal,rape ,and murder South Africans, women and children ,destroying South Africa's infrastructure ,stripping buildings that is standing empty ,pulling up railway tracks . Why do you think your government gave these white people land for free ,I can assure you it's not free ,those people signed a lease ,and another farms don't happen in a few weeks or months ,it takes 5-10 years before a farm becomes fully functional ,why your government did not give you guys first option,I would not know ,maybe you should confront your government. Tell if Europeans are so terrible why are black people from Senegal risking their lives in their rickety boats to reach the shores of Europe. Another thing the real aborigines of South Africa are the Khoi and the San ,the Bushmen and the Griekwa's ,Brown people ,black people came from the North ,arrived here on slave ships ,the Vendas are from the Congo, the Zulus ( Nguni) are from Central Africa etc.

I come from Zambia neighbouring the Congo but even I would have a problem staying inside the Congo as my people this side are very territorial with a very ugly history. Congolese do not tolerate racist colonial mentality so these families will not have it easy unless they change their approach. The communist and socialism the first man is complaining about is what has made it possible for him to settle in Congo because the government has given you the land for free. You will not stay there for long with that mentality and not even Europeans will tolerate you. Change or those Congolese will give you a very hard time. Best to befriend them than antagonize them indirectly by sticking to your own colony. Just because Mandela never took you to prison the crimes under Apartheid does not mean that lifestyle was normal. The lady on 8.02 has a point as she realizes that it will be senseless to make a white country in the middle of a black country that has just welcomed you.

Our leaders have been assassinated for trying to do what is right by their people and rewarded those who steal from their people. IMF, WTO, and World Bank have ruined entire countries through fake programs that disadvantage the local people yet people like you will only see these things on the surface. Go and find out why some of your intelligent citizens demonstrate at the G8 summit every year. Our God is Jehovah Rapha, the God of healing and we shall forever be in his favour. Ngobola Muyembe I don’t know which planet you’re living on , but NO ONE gets loans without collateral I assure you ...my parents farm was owned by the bank until the day they sold it ..the bank held the title dees because the land was the collateral . If my dad had not paid his loan back, the bank would have kept the land to cover the cost of the loan completely . Even when I wanted to buy a car , my parents had to sign surety for me because I was under 25 . It’s very very hard to get a loan for anyone and if you’re high risk because you don’t pay bills on time , the bank will not give you a loan whether you’re black or white Those guys in Congo on the video had very little money and no chance to borrow...they actually said that . When it comes to corruption and ineffective leadership ...white people cannot help you . You wanted us out and now you have to deal with the leaders you get I’m afraid . Diabetes and obesity? hmm I would look at the African American population who are the most obese in the country so your theory is nonsense ...stealing from you ..please look at your leaders again .
