But as I was saying coming of the drug is brutal but living without the drug is even more brutal because nearly every person in the world has issues and some has has more issues and problems than others that’s why they take the drug to forget there problems and when you come of the drug all your problems will come flooding back and you can imagine the strength off the opium or heroin the kids are taking in these poor country’s that the poppy is grown and the price they pay for it I wouldn’t blame the people from them poor war torn country’s from taking drugs just to forget the shitty hand they were dealt in life the D.E.A can kill or capture all these drug lords but drugs like heroin cocaine crystal meth weed and many other drugs are here to stay and worse it’s getting not better.

The rest, of course, makes its way to a population of addicts to fuel plenty of crime, death, and suffering. But at least nobody is simply wasting money! :)

From around 1770 to 1820 sales of British, Dutch and American controlled opium in China had increased by 22,000%! Khun Sa's operation was actually quite small by comparison. He also had to deal with competition for the market from other drugs sources; cocaine, designer cocktails and crack (later replaced by crystal meth). Inspite of western rhetoric drug abuse is encouraged in western nations because it makes wealthy backers (where are those offshore trust funds going?) even wealthier.

And on topic….why did the high grade and highly refined white heroin from this region get taken over by brown crude Afghan base heroin? Because it was a fresh marketing ploy pushed by global authorities as the “new safe heroin” knowing that smokable heroin would facilitate a whole new range of users who would have never in a million years considered IV drug use. I would also suggest that the golden triangle still continues to produces just much heroin as it always has but it will no longer be refined (#5) as it was before….Brown base heroin = more addicts = more government money and more destabilisation of society. there is no such thing as a gateway drug it is merely a decision of the drug taker But if you were to choose which drug out of Alcohol & pot is more likely to be a gateway to heroin , then it is marijuana with out a doubt. Only because some pot dealers also sell Heroin , not because one innately leads to the other To say alcohol is ever a gateway to heroin literally makes zero logical sense, and is silly. so NO the real gateway drug is actually NOT alcohol.
@milascave27 жыл бұрын
Basically, the gateway drug is the easyest illegal drug to get. I say illegal because once you get in the habit of buying drugs off the black market, it's not such a big step to get a different one. But I met a guy who said that he tried heroin before he tried anything else. Because of where he lived, it was what was around, and he had never even heard of anything else until later. Once he heard of them, he used it, so in his case, heroin was the gateway drug. A lot of young folks world wide start with solvents: glue, lighter fluid, gasoline, oven cleaner, liquid paper. It would be hard to ban all that stuff. Basically, some people try drugs. Of those, some people, a minority, are inclined to become addicted to them. Of the latter group, they will tend to get hooked on whatever is around, including, yes, alcohol. So, the gateway drug theory has a grain of truth in it, trying one thing often leads to trying another. But it is flawed in the idea that getting rid of one drug will keep people from trying others.

***** Still chasin' the dragon...I cannot stress enough how fucked up it is when you're intrinsically inclined to an addictive personality and ODC coupled together...it's fucking a nightmare...I made 72k last year and most of it went to, well you know...separated from the wife, daughter...just a fucking nightmare which I cannot get myself out of. The wife called yesterday actually, every time she does the first thing she asks is, "are you clean yet??!!!" She still holds out hope for us which is endearing...I would've wrote myself off years ago.

Mhas' I suppose it dose sound strange to us but as well as their chickens & food they took away their men too & did you see the children being trained as soldiers ? Well they came from the hill people also.Their lives are in danger. Life is unbelievably difficult for the hill people they can't survive on growing anything else than opium. You can go there & visit the hill people in Thailand as a tourist . And if you ask them for some weed they'll tell you they can only sell you opium. ( Do not buy it though) It's a big culture shock for us westerners . And don't get me started on what is going on in the Red LLight districts.Sad is not the word.It's beyond sad !

She was referring to the Burmese military who came and stole everything including their men. She and her family then moved to the other side of the river and began supplying Khun Sa's people with opium. What else could they do to survive? This documentary is about people with lots of power and people with zero power.

@@AFaceintheCrowd01yes. in australia, double 0 globe is easily the most common. though users have dropped significantly since the 2000s so production has scaled back an diverted toward methamphetamine production. its only a matter of time before the heroin dries up and fentanyl takes its place, which will absolutely devastate this country. i also work with former opium farmers from Myanmar who've sought out asylum here.

@@69AARVIPER What does it matter? He/She is doing great and living a happier life. Would you be saying anything if the person was taking heart medication? Are you against Tylenol for headaches? Coffee in the morning? I have chronic pain. Opioids made life tolerable, but Big Brother took those away from me, telling me they were addictive and deadly. It took about a weeks worth of pain before seeking out heroin. Then Suboxone to get off of heroin. Suboxone was as, if not harder to get off of than heroin. I heard that Methadone withdrawals are the worst of the 3. In the 1972 Consumer Union Report, it pointed out that, when street doses of heroin were far purer than they are today (China Cat and black-tar heroin scares notwithstanding), drug overdoses were practically unknown. It also noted that heroin overdoses began to be reported in New York City after World War II. Public officials can generally say any bad thing they want about illegal drugs. And they feel no doubt that labeling deaths as overdoses should scare most young people away from drugs. If it is not pure drugs that kill, but impure drugs and the mixture of drugs, then the myth of the heroin overdose can be dangerous. If users had a guaranteed pure supply of heroin which they relied on, there would be little more likelihood of toxic doses than occur with narcotics administered in a hospital.

Very informative. Why don't democratic countries like Canada, USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, etc., grow their own opium for processing into morphine and synthetic drugs for domestic medicinal consumption? Will the opium flower/poppy plant not grow in those countries? I read somewhere where that England had an opium farm in country licensed by the government to a private farming operation for consumption by the British through its regulated pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and physicians.

Yes, it's true that no country should be blackmailed into financing some warlord's operation. Are you alluding to legalization/decriminalization when you say different ways of handling it? If so, you and I are absolutely in agreement. I was merely stating that if people continue to be deluded into billions of dollars "warring" against drugs and thinking they will ever be eliminated, simply buying all this dude's heroin for a fraction of the cost would be more effective than current measures.
