Definitely closer to what I want to do, but still not any easy lift to bring the table up. Thank you for the video!

I think it looks more difficult in the video than it is in reality; the pedestal has gas pressure inside, so it pushes itself up. Also, mine is in direct contact with the leather cushions and I have to squeeze my hand in there... but if I had made my table just a tiny bit narrower, it would not touch the cushions and would be even easier to lift.

I did the same thing with table. But, i put a 1/8 plate under the floor where the pedestal is mounted. And used bolts and nuts. My friend just used screws. And on a rough road in South Caroline it broke at the floor. He left it up during travel.

I used #12 screws... and I also used VHB tape to attach it. Between the adhesive and the mechanical fasteners, it's still rock solid. I pretty much always travel with the table up.

I used 3/4 birch plywood. They make a screen edge trim that is 3/4 for unfinished edge.

I thought about plywood but was all setup for hardwood anyway. I think if I did do plywood I would add battens to ensure that the table stays flat and rigid.

Nice job. Thanks for the video. We have employed some of your modifications and also was wondering about the cup holders above the seating area and the white item on the wall near the door

Ah! I could do a video on all that stuff. I bet lots of folks would like that. Will do! In the meantime: amzn.to/3tdrtln and amzn.to/3Hnaja8 will get you sorted. :)

Looking to do an adjustable pedestal as well, but in your video, you were raising it from the lowest position which appeared to be cumbersome. Was it a manual adjustable pedestal or the air-powered pedestal?
@JustaJourneyman5 ай бұрын
It looks more cumbersome than it is, but you do have to tug it a bit. The pedestal has some gas lift to it, but it's far from automatic.

Hi Journeyman... Will the table rotate if you want it to? Meaning, will the pipe in the pedestal swivel so I can re-orient the top?
@JustaJourneyman2 жыл бұрын
Yup, with the clamps loose you can easily rotate the top... you just need to be mindful of whether the shape of the top will allow you to spin it past the wall at the back of the trailer. Can be rotated a bit even with the clamps locked down, actually.

@@JustaJourneyman Thanks again... our table is split in half and one side can be lifted and flopped over the top of the stationary side to create a table that is half size, and then rotated and dropped to make a coffee table. So, we will be using it for dining, a coffee table, and we are having a pad made for the top so we can drop it and turn the sofa/banquette into a massive chaise lounger. Super excited!

@@vickiboiseWe're doing the same thing! What hinge did you use for the flip top table? I can't seem to find hidden hinges anywhere! And how did you support the table extension?

Hi. Nice job. I am looking to do the same on my camper. What is the lowest it will go and the highest.
@JustaJourneyman2 жыл бұрын
In the video, the "lowered" height is the lowest, and the raised height is the highest...

It looked to be really hard to lift.
@JustaJourneyman2 жыл бұрын
Looks awkward on the video, but not difficult to lift. To make it easiest, you have to lift from the center, so it gets you leaning over at a bit of an awkward angle. Also, mine is TIGHT to the cushions on either side, which means there's some friction at the start. If I were to build it again, I'd give myself a quarter inch there.

Hey I'm sorry I couldn't find an email or any other way to contact you besides maybe the blog? But I was unsure so hope you see this... I have a metal fab shop and I'm thinking about manufacturing a needed product but I want to make sure there is real interest ..we need something to fill that gap in the market .I've been asking as many welders and smaller shops home hobby welders and medium to small KZbin channels because that's my target consumer. I can make a real pro level fixture table an actual flat top up to 1' thick for 5x10 other sizes would also be availabile very quality table for under $2000 I've looked at every thing that I could get my eyes on in the 400-2000 range and it's almost all flimsy garbage.. If a table like this was on the market would you be interested in it?
@JustaJourneyman2 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing that most hobbyist welders will 1) want to build their own welding table as a way to practice their skills and 2) not care so much about a perfectly flat table. $2k is pretty pricey for someone rocking a $300-500 welding machine, using a fan or window for ventilation, and rocking harbor freight grinders. (Consider this: even deeply committed home woodworkers wait a loooooong time before investing in a cabinet saw.) My guess is that you want to go up-market just a bit and focus on small fabricators, metal artists, and craft schools/community shops. Someplace like snowfarm.org could use a table like that and in the price range, for example. Hope that helps!
