@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 hey sweet... i am sorry you had a hernia too.. did you get surgery?? i have been living with hernias for a long time before they figured out i had them. and therefore some were neglected and at first they didn't even want to deal with them because of that. But at my second surgery they tried to do it finally and it really helped me on my left side. I have less pain in my back on the left side than on the right. And i don't think you can relate partially.. you know what it is to have lots of pain so.. I aways say it is what it is but i def have my bad days i mean in my head.. But i try to remain positive and still do some of the things i had planned for that day. Ii think to myself that pain is there anyway so why not do something anyway. To be in bed 24 gours a day is just horrible. I mean i had years where it was just impossible to go out and i couldn't do anything. That's why i want to encourage people with pain that if they can go outside for a bit and keep your chin up and say good morning to the people you pass because being alone in your bed is so lovely.. I am glad you can manage your pain somwhat. Do you take meds still?? And i love long stories so if you want to talk about your state of ok-ish i am here to listen!! i hope your health is oke for you and stuart??? Oke as you can see i am not one to keep my messages short lol.. And i am feeling a bit better every day for sure.. I also have my lovely chateau community to thank for that. Hi there. The prices of chateau really depend on the location. The closer to a big tourist draw, the higher the cost. The more dilapidated ones deep in the country start at around $400,00. And of course, there is no limit. The lower priced properties often require a lot of work and at least the purchase price once over. Glad you like our journey.

What a charming video! YT recommended it to me today. I'm now your newest subscriber! I've been looking at chateaux on YT as inspiration for design ideas of my own. I am currently working on a video series designing a chateau inspired by La Lanterne, in Versailles. Once I've finished it I want to do a few more, incorporating the loveliest and most characteristic elements from other chateaux, to make designs for homes of different sizes, from quite grand to the cottage down at the end of the garden. Your channel will clearly be a source for much inspiration. Thank you.

Hi there. Thank you for your comment. What a cool idea you are developing!!! We finished with our mid-century modern home about a year ago. Finishing up details before selling it. We have over 6.000 sq ft. and are not afraid of the hard work with an eye on the historic details. It's also important to realize, that we all have different ideas. Sometimes I get carried away when people do something we'd never do. That's why God invented chocolate and vanilla! I am looking forward to seeing your designs.

@@patrickjourneytothechateau8243 Hi Patrick! So nice to hear back. I love Mid-Century Modern too. It's funny but a person can adore the chateaux of France and MCM as well. My education and work experience was in architecture and structural engineering, but generally in more mundane projects. So I'm giving free reign to my own design ideas at the moment, assembling a set of plans which I hope to sell as stock house plans online eventually. I've got several of them, including my take on La Lanterne, on my KZbin channel. Feel free to browse. My videos tend to be rather long and boring. But if I may say so myself, I think the house designs are quite attractive. Holiday greeting to you and Patrick both. And by the way, if you are traveling in France and find yourself in the vicinity of Saumur (one of my favorite towns), I can highly recommend a chateau where you can stay as a guest. Early evening greetings Stuart & Patrick, the chateaux that got away, yes, I would agree it was perhaps not meant to be, who knows!! I have lost out on so many things in my life, yet, I feel there was no real reason for it, it got stolen away "by fate", yes. Had so many wonderful things yet they slipped through my fingers. Would my or our lives be different today with or without them, we will never know. Therefore, follow your dream. I agree we are too cautious thinking what if...... with that mindset we will never venture anywhere or do anything. Console yourselves with the fact you have now a beautiful chateau and you have to get on with it!! As time is passing you know or will start to realise this and that is not necessary. Devote your time and energy on things that are or will become important later let the rest just go. We are having left over chicken bake, so I shall love and leave you and get that in the oven to warm. An easy evening meal full of nutrition and taste. Always a treat to watch your videos. looking forward to the next show. How are the dogs doing, have no seen them for a while, romping about like footballs. Do take care, many blessings.

Patrick and Stuart... Truly loving following your journey! My partner and I (maybe slightly more me - with a bit of twisting of his arm) have been exploring a similar new direction for several years - researching, investigating and now also watching and following the day to day / vlog to vlog postings of many new chateau life KZbinR's including those that you mentioned - who were also your inspiration and advisors. But, your new adventures and postings have become true, genuine, relatable inspirations to me, thus the first note written to anyone taking the risk to make their chateau dream happen. I was also surprised at how somewhat similar we are: two professional guys (me: the artsy / creative/ visionary... fashion, advertising, design, design history (appreciate your mentioning of 'toille') photography, event production, decor / interior design, floral, hotel management /consulting, professor guy... he: the logical, calm, 'steady', nothing phases, science, math, computer IT 'geek' professional one) long term couple (32 years), cold weather Canadian couple - from just east of Toronto. SO, you are living (good or bad) my dream! This European exploration, new life experience has been a minor obsession for several years - also looking at Italy, (Venice and / or Umbria), Spain, and now re-focusing once again on France. Due to the recent COVID period, we are now having a much more serious early retirement focus, and questioning what we really want to do in our next chapter. The chateau your featured in your posting today was truly stunning, perfectly formed and detailed for a small chateau home with the great added potential for gites, a small boutique hotel, weddings and special events, etc. Loved It! If it had been our time where we were ready to make the leap abroad and in the position to purchase, the property you featured would also have been on the top of our list. Just stunning! Sorry for the long message, but you both and your new journey are terrific inspirations to others! Best of Luck! Will be following your chateau adventures! Regards!

It is a beautiful Chateau. I really liked the symmetry of how the outhouses were designed and positioned. But then perhaps as you mentioned, it wasn’t meant to be. I’m sure the ideal one is just out there, waiting for you to claim it. 😊 Thanks for another wonderful video! 👍

I was also prepared to make an offer on it, but wanted to see it personally. As you said, Covid made that impossible. It did need allot of work inside, the roof of the chateau needed repair, but the "bones" were good. Quite sad.

Hi Robert. Now, that is too funny. It's such a great property - with some negatives. Sounds like I'm talking about myself. Tons of work needed indeed. But that's the challenge and the motivation. Now, you and us will find our home soon. And how about meeting each others once we get there!

Thanks Jill. Glad you are as visual a person as we are. We keep the price out due to the huge changes since Covid impacted all of us. Please stay tuned and I'll be happy to let you know any prices privately.

OMG. Really! That is not funny but too funny all the same. Meaning that we looked at the same chateau. Still find it so pretty. Now, there we people who said that things happen for a reason. I believe that and now, looking at our actual chateau that we bought, I like them both very much. However, I think we got the one that is better suited for us. Don’t you give up! 👍🏻⚜️👍🏻

I truly understand your disappointment, it was a fairy tale looking Chateau. . But as you said yourselves.. Everything happens for a reason lads 😉
@patrickjourneytothechateau82433 жыл бұрын
Thank you Cliff. I wish we could understand the reasons while it happens. 😳🤪. Love your comment. We were pretty bummed and stopped looking for some weeks. Over it now. There are two properties we are interested in. Can’t wait!

@@patrickjourneytothechateau8243 So very exciting! Truly I am really happy to see 2 guys at it. Something different. Are you also doing events, accommodation ect.. If so chef, designer, and high level crafts here. Even doing nursing during this awful time.

@@cliffhorman6846 WOW, you are a renaissance man! Fantastic. I have learned that life brings many surprises and good things. We would like to have 2 or 3 B&B rooms and hopefully develop some gîtes. So who knows if you, at some point pack up in Melbourne and stay with us for a while. Wouldn't that be something. In any case, for you to do nursing, kudos to you. What a fantastic thing to do!!! It is because you are a good hearted caring man! Fantastic! XXXX

@@patrickjourneytothechateau8243 You are to kind. i was born in London and bought to Australia as a child. I return often usually As although I am very grateful for the life, space (live opposite a beach) and education of being here in Australia my heart belongs to England and Europe. Although I loved the US. Another long story.
@patrickjourneytothechateau82433 жыл бұрын
@@cliffhorman6846 wow you are cosmopolitan. I totally relate to that. Born in Germany, I was fortunate that my parents took me traveling all over Europe in a tiny RV. They worked had but there was never much money however, a great childhood! A long story made me end up in Cape Town. Awesome time and I ended up in Chicago. 21 years later I’m ready to make a huge move again but this time not as a single and with our dogs and slightly more stuff than a bag and a suitcase. I feel that you will always be home in Europe/UK. And I want to hear the USA story too!
