Hmm...perhaps a bit optimistic there Jim. There have been MANY great moments in the history of rock, quite a few of them involving bands of greater 'stature' as one might say. The live rendition of Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple being just one example in my opinion. I really like Joy Division and in particular New Dawn Fades but the greatest moment...? Not in my humble opinion.

Man, they were going to be fuckin big. One of the most heartbreaking tragedies in rock. Who knows what could have been. They were already on fire and they were just getting started. The music was so unique, catchy, and tight. New Order is fine and all but this would have been something extraordinary. Damn shame
@tylerskiss7 ай бұрын
I don’t know- New Order is extremely important to the history of music and were responsible for what is pretty universally considered to be the greatest 12” ever produced. And as much as I love JD, and it’s fun to imagine what could have been, I don’t believe they would have outlasted the Bunnymen or The Cure.

Most medications can have adverse effects when taken by children. Putting children on Prozac back in the day probably led to more deaths than letting the brain develop naturally. Beyond that there’s also the controversy that Ian faked his epilepsy, in which case he was taking medication he didn’t actually need. I often wonder on many of these people like Chris Cornell or Michael Hutchence- had they just gotten through 24hrs, woukd they have chosen differently? I remember trying a drug one night and the following morning I was lower than dirt- like really wanted to top myself badly, but after a day passed and my brain found equilibrium, I was fine.

@FireMinstrel5 жыл бұрын
Having them flash the lights when he sings "DAY IN, DAY OUT, DAY IN, DAY OUT" was pretty reckless of them, to be honest. Ian and his family were fortunate that his seizures were never captured on film(or if they were, that the person filming had the decency to discard the footage), but that was a close call right there considering how bad his seizures were by 1980.
@kwd-kwd3 жыл бұрын
@@FireMinstrel actually what that is, they turned the spotlight off Ian because he wasn't right up on the mic when he danced, the reason it blacks out is Super 8 cameras usually had automatic light meters, and when the front light goes off, only the lights above Steve's drums are providing light and when you back light a subject with a camera that has an automatic light meter, it blacks out everything in the foreground because the automatic light meter in the camera cannot adjust the exposure properly. Professional photographers always have separate light meters with them that can be manually adjusted for compensating in unusual lighting situations. Also the motion looks "floaty" on Autosuggestion originally, was the slowed the camera down to 18FPS to try to fit the whole song on one reel of film. the standard film cart was 50FT (15.24 meters for people outside the U..S.A) the other songs were filmed at 24FPS. the did make 200FT film carts towards the end of the format when video started to take over, but they were rarely used and the carts were prone to jamming, etc......sorry just a former film nerd supplying nerd facts.........
