One of the greatest songs I’ve heard overall, wish more people reacted to this masterpiece

The cover design was actually the visual read out of a star collapsing in space. They saw it in an astronomy book and liked it. That's where it comes from.

That’s actually so damn cool. Thanks for sharing!

@@EwokToRemember yeah I thought so too. It seems strangely very relevant as well.

Hell yea man! Great track the entire album is one of the most influential of all time. Hard to find a moody, experimental or progressive rock band that doesn't draw from them from them in some way ie) NIN, Tool, Radiohead, Smashing pumpkins. Shoot even some heavy punk. Henry Rollins has some interesting thoughts on their legacy/impact.... Also last point this sound is late 70s and easily a decade ahead of its time

yes yes yes!! my favourite band!:) love that you're covering the 80s - so much to discover (eventhough unknown pleasures was technically released in 1979) looking forward to more joy division,, the smiths, new order and so on!!

You must, must hear the live version of this from the Les Bains Douches album. Joy Division live is the best way to experience the sheer raw fury of this band.

What can I say of this song. I am not going to get into the tired "haunted" cliches. I just love the darkness, and the sense of menace, the tension. I almost get into a trance while listening to it, and I end up moving like Ian Curtis without realizing, and "to the center of the city in the night, waiting for you....." has to be one of my favorite lyrics ever.

Love the eclectic choice of music on your channel. I've experienced music I would never have heard on my own. This was cool. Subscribed and dinged. 🤘😜🤘

The killers are massive Joy Division and New Order fans, they actually got their name from the New Order music video for Touched by the hand of God, it's the name of the band performing in the video

Really? Didn't know that. I know they love playing Shadowplay.

This is my favorite Joy Division song. Some suggestions: 1) Die Krupps "Nazis on Speed", 2) Einsturzende Neubauten "NNNAAAMMM", 3) Nina Hagen "Hand Grenade", 4) 45 Grave "Wax", 5) Lydia Lunch "Black Juju", 6) Jefferson Airplane "Two Heads", 7) Crass "Reality Asylum", 8) Chumbawamba "Homophobia", and 9) Lene Lovich "I Think We're Alone Now".

I see from your previous reactions you've listened to Porcupinre Tree. However, the keyboard player Richard Barbieri was in a more influential band prior to PT. This band was Japan and if you like that late 70's, early 80's vibe, try them. Duran Duran wanted Japan to produce their first album, Gary Numan stalked them and groups like ABC used to go to their gigs. I'll give you 3 tracks, all from different periods that shows off their breadth and musicality. 'Obscure Alternatives' is the title track of their second album and hints towards the minimalist direction they'd eventually take. 'In Vogue' is from their 3rd album Quiet Life. The lead singer had tonsilitis between these albums and had them removed, changing his singing style. The song is lush with Mick Karn's fretless bass and Barbieri's keyboards. Finally, 'Visions of China' from their last studio album Tin Drum. Sounds like a completely different band!

Sick I love joy division. Please react to Leonard Cohens On The Level. The third track to his last album You Want ain’t darker. You’ve already covered the first two tracks in time I’d love to hear your thoughts on all 9 tracks.
