Why did you choose beit shemesh? I realize you're religous and all, but there are so many better places!

It baffles me how a woman who was born in America and whose grandparents came from Eastern Europe believes she has a connection to Palestine where she calls home.

Have you read the document? The first five books. It should provide an understanding of why it is called home as the land is given by the highest authority and anyone may join the covenant.

@@7איעך so I see you’re just picking the parts of the Old Testament that justify your people stealing Palestinian land, homes, trees, crops etc.

@@terrybaker8156 you are erasing over 2,500 years of lived History with a narrative that was created over the past 60 years. Take this family for instance, this wasn't done for political reasons this wasn't even done for modern nationalistic reasons. This is a deep felt cultural/religious connection that our forefathers were exiled from the land. It's practically woven into our daily religious existence. For instance, we pray three times a prayer that was established over 2,000 years ago, but it's centered around Israel and the Holiness of that place. The miracles and the stories that take place in the Bible is primarily around Israel. The laws that we keep is primarily around Israel. There are whole sections of texts of how to behave outside of Israel being that it's different. When God rewards us, it's in the form of Israel and its blessings. A great part of the criticism against us in the Bible and onward is what we did to deserve the exile and how we need to repent in order to bring upon the redemption etc. But the pain is all about how we were exiled from the land and how God removed himself from the Holiness of that land to a certain extent. So both the good and punishment is all tied with the land. On the mystical side of course the same thing but we won't go there. Of course there's the historical feelings of always having ancestors that live there yet were never allowed to prosper... To dismiss this whole thing and fit on top of it a social justice narrative is totally missing the reality of our experience. Unfortunately you've been fed an ideological narrative. If you are concerned with preserving of people's culture you should ask yourself how come families like this have an organic feeling to uproot themselves midlife and finally make the leap to israel. Again this is not happening because of any political feelings. Rather it's organically deep within each individual. A sort of cathartic feeling that their great grandparents weren't able to achieve what they can. Yes the crisis and conflicts in the Middle East is a problem and we need solutions. But the cultural connections can't be dismissed and needs to be respected the same way as others as well.

''when you're so far from home'' isn't Jewish Aliyah supposed to BRING you to you're home, Israel ? lol. She seems not that much happy to be moving from were she is to the middle east, which is basically a down grade.
