The Yami Fruit originally chose Thatch so the Dark Fruit can belong to a good person. Just how the Flame Fruit and Nika Fruit was in the hands of bad Pirates (Doflamingo) and bad agents (Cipher Pol). The Whitebeard Pirates were the closest to One Piece so its interesting how they had 2 of the 3 fruits, while Luffy the One to claim the Piece is an ally friend who will become a combination of Roger and Whitebeard as King.

I have a theory you may be interested in. The other day I was taking to my dad about the origin of devil fruits. He told me he saw a movie about giants that watched over a tree that grew fruits from humans dreams. The fruits grew from nightmares aswell. When I heard this I was surprised how much this could relate to elbaf and the Adam tree in one piece. He doesn’t remember the name of this movie 😑

The nika fruit is most likely based on the god of imagination and intuition Los (spanish word for sun "sol" reversed), from the mythology of famous romantic poet and artist William Blake. According to Wikipedia "Los is regularly described as a smith, beating with his hammer on a forge, which is metaphorically connected to the beating of the human heart", wich to me sounds too similar to Nika's heartbeat to not be an intentional reference. Furthermore, one of Blake's paintings shows Los with straw hat, sandals and undulating hair entering a crypt with a sun held in one hand. In Blake's mythology there are three other main gods called the zoas (wich in one piece could be four zoans): Urizen (god of reason, probably Im's fruit), tharmas (god of sensation, probably Blackbeard's fruit, this would explain why he feels more pain, this god also prone to flee just like blackbeard) and Luvah (god of passion and rebelious energy, probably Dragon's fruit).

My theory on the yami-yami no mi and why it seems to not be acting like a logia. I used to think it's NOT a logia, since it doesn't act like one, and everyone was telling me I am wrong. But then I thought of a different reason. Many logia fruits have a "natural enemy". For example, the sand-sand fruit has wetness (and therefore if you are wet while hitting someone who ate it, it's as if he's not a logia user) and the lightning fruit has bad conductors, hence Luffy being able to punch Enel without haki, much like with Crocodile. I believe that the dark-dark fruit's natural weakness is light. And guess what, we've only seen Blackbeard fight in the light, during the day. That's why every time someone punches him, the attacks hit him normally instead of going through him. If we ever see him fight in the dark, he will act like every other logia fruit. Additionally, I think that the light fruit that Kizaru is using, has the same issue. Its' weakness is the darkness, so if you punch Kizaru with the lights off, he'll feel it. Unless I was right at the beginning and the yami-yami no mi turns out to be NOT logia.

Yami Yami no Mi has already been shown to be self contradictory with it's ability to expel what it absorbed by "Liberation", not only is it being ironically a strange call forward to "Nika, the Warrior of Liberation", but also present a curious contrast to another fruit that can absorb object into itself, namely Carribou's Numa Numa no Mi, with a key difference being that while your can retrieve whatever object or people stored within Carribou relativly unharmed, everything within the dark space within Blackbeard is crushed into pieces as if the true form of the darkness is a super-dense body with immense gravity as a result of it's mass rather than being the embodiment of gravitational force like Fujitora's ability itself. Could it be that of the celestial bodies that surrounds the One Piece planet there is one such that was so massive that it emits no light? Maybe this 'thing' is the origin of the Kurozumi name, a "moon" that swallow all light from the Sun instead of reflecting it?

This is well put together. And the second I heard "three gods", I figured you were going to mention Imu, who spelled backwards means "sea" in Japanese. It just goes perfectly together. Also, I agree with Blackbeard being the "Moon god", but also wouldn't be surprised if Enel could happen to take over that role. I've been wondering about Devil Fruits and Awakenings lately, and I'm starting to wonder if Oda may have told us the wrong fruit for Enel. Going back, and rereading/watching parts of Skypiea, Enel's power seems a bit off from a normal logia fruit. As the story goes on, it seems very likely that Enel (Eneru) is actually a Mythical Zoan, especially with his "20,000,000 Volt Amaru", where he takes the form of Raijin, he literally has the same traits as the other True-Awakened zoan users. (Having the scarf around him similar to a hagoromo made out of similar element/material, along with his hair turning into lightning.) I really wouldn't be surprised if when he's eventually introduced back into the story, that Oda actually changes the name of his fruit, and it's labeled as the: "Hito Hito no Mi: Model Raijin".

IF it wasn't for the fact that whitebeard previously held the gura gura no mi, I would've said that fit better as a mythical zoan moon god devil fruit, because of how we see whitebeard manipulate waves and effectively create tides with it. but whitebeard was the worlds strongest man, and probably awakened his fruit, so this is incredibly unlikely, unless he hadn't awakened.

The island was under oppressive rule then Blackbeard came and liberated the island but left them in a sort of chaotic freedom until Luffy came and truly liberated them giving them more of a true freedom. I think you might be somewhat correct. I believe the lack of moonlight in the crescent moon is what gives Kuro his urges and power. Not the light from the moon. The light the moon give off is still "sunlight", and it helps guide you through the dark of night, aka keeps you safe and gives hope for the light that will come. I believe Blackbeards devil fruit will cover up the sun/moon, hiding all of the light from the sun. And in darkness he gains more power.

I love Luffy and Blackbeard comparisons and do also believe that BB has a mythical Zoan fruit. But what if BB is more than just "the night" since he has more than one DF. The quake fruit seems like a really good fruit to also make him "the storm". What if the reason that he can have two DF is because the souls of these fruits were "one" in the past? Since Big Mom's fruit we know that souls can be split and eating these specific fruits would restore the original soul of the fruit which might be a requirement for an awakening. Maybe the Gorosei got their hands on this God's fruit in the past and split it apart (into 3 parts possibly since BB's flag has 3 skulls) - this is why they mentioned the Nika fruit always escaping their grip.

The sun, the moon… the only thing missing is the Stars, the place where good and evil legends are set for all time. The moon is also important to the Wano people, not just with their last names but also moon viewing rituals, seen directly on Zou and also after every successful leg of the Straw Hats journey, for all intents and purposes. The moon chasing the sun… makes me think of Skul and Hati, two wolves from Norse mythology that chase the sun and moon across the skies, destined to swallow all light and hope at Ragnarok.

During the same time we've learned that Luffy's Devil Fruit was that of the Sun God, I heard other people having a their own theories on Blackbeard being an opposite to Nika, which could explain one of the flaws of his Dark Dark Fruit. But at the same time, I honestly thought that you would somehow mention the other gods that were mentioned in the Skypeia arc besides the Sun God. And speaking of the other gods, I believe so far that Dragon could be the user of the Rain God Fruit, Chopper or Usopp's Black Kabuto as the Forest God, as well as Boa Hancock's Love Love Fruit being the Fruit of the Earth God. Anyway, these are just my thoughts & opinions, I just wanted to know what you think?

Have you looked into "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" (Released in Japan as "Esteban, Child of the Sun ") it's an older cartoon and from reading the plot of the show it seems to me Oda might have been influenced by this. It reminds me of "Castle in the Sky/Laputa" Lost civilization, ancient weapon like machines, lost energy source, descendant that can read the ancient writings...

Hidden Island actually suggests that Whitebeard was the representation of a moon an heavily associated with moon symbolism. Blackbeard is imo the darkness of the night sky or a black hole or dark matter/energy. It can absorb or snuff out others like he did with Whitebeard and Ace, absorb other dreams. Now Blackbeard is also the moon having taken the Gura Gura no mi. I think Luffy stands for the individual dreams of many, giving them the hope and ability to seek out their own. Blackbeard a singular dream, just his own.

I personally think that Imu should have a devil fruit that relates to war rather then the underworld, since Brook's devil fruit is called the yomi yomi no mi. Other mythologies such as the Greek pantheon have a god called Ares which is the god of war. I think this would tie in better with how Imu is portraied, since he has ruled the world from the shadows and has been seen wiping out countries which they call "A Great Cleansing."
